Just wanted to make sure y'all do realize that Shimano made those DC reels to where you could back off the spool tension quite a bit I always run my DC's with a fairly loose spool and never have any issues backlashing and they Outcast every reel I own by far. By the way I have the metanium DC 70 XG and I used a measuring wheel and put it on a Dobyns Kaden 7 ft 3 medium heavy moderate fast with a .71 Oz casting plug and casted it 199.5 ft so free up your DC reels you'll thank me later.

@@krisearley4689 agreed the manual says to tighten to remove side to side play is all you need. The dc does its job to stop overruns.

Great video! I’m not totally sold on this reel. I like the ideal the controls are on the outside. It looks 🔥. But sadly not what I’m looking for at the moment, or maybe it is and I just can’t get past the 70 size spool.
@LakeProTackle6 күн бұрын
To be honest the 70 size spool isn't bad at all casting up to 17lb test. The IDC5 is so powerful and can even throw BFS!

Hope you see this, just got a Metainium DC dose the drag ramp up quickly on this Shimano , Thanks in advance !
@LakeProTackleАй бұрын
I noticed the drag does ramp up very quickly on this model and the Bantam. They were designed for fast drag control so you can lock it down in dense cover

I own 2 of the new Metanium DCs. They cast brilliantly! Guys remember is a 70 series spool. It’s not made for 3/4-1oz deep diving cranks or super heavy applications. It is more of a finesse style reel, small cranks and 1/2oz jerkbaits its wheel house. It’s not completely idiot proof don’t expect it to be.
@krisearley46894 ай бұрын
Just because it's a 70 does not make it a finesse real automatically granted it may have been intended for finesse applications for most situations but there's nothing that is keeping you from using it for all around it performs beautifully on a higher-end medium heavy rod that is lighter weight.

@@krisearley4689 basically what I was trying to say bud. It’s just not an HD reel doesn’t have the gears for 1oz and over nor the line capacity.
@The_Bass_Stunters3 ай бұрын
@@krisearley4689 you want to fry the gears on that Met 70 run an 8XD for a day on it with 15 pound line. Much rather have the older Met DC for cranking 16’ and down divers.

I’ve heard the people having problems with their Metanium are from the Japanese market model, not the US market Metanium.

The 2 2024 met dc reels I have are both used for texas rigs/pitching. They are amazing at pitching and still cast very far when needed. They feel great in the hand and are just a joy to use, but I did swap out the aluminum gears sets for brass gear sets. Im not a fan of aluminum gears in reels at all. I somehow missed they have aluminum gears, or I likely would have gotten 2 Antares Dc reels instead. But, I have them now, complete with brass gears. I love these but the 2 Antares dc reels I have are my overall favorites. The standard Antares reels and the Met dc reels tie for my second most favorite. They all are wonderful, just different in some ways.

I bought one of these have not had a chance to fish it yet, but it’s gonna be tough to beat a zillion sv

Not to hard zillion sv is actually my shortest distance caster.

@@jimmypage279 shorthest by not far. But Zillion is much much more user friendly reel that it just simple cast without being nervous for backlases. And is much cheaper! For me the Zillion is absolut an winner!

Honestly, I gave mine away. Felt burned by Shimano on this one. $500 in the toilet. But lucky for me. I don't need training wheels on a Baitcaster

Why will you set the tension knob so tight, just to cast with 0 DC braking? It just doesnt make sense :/
@911Getsome6 ай бұрын
I did buy a steez. I love it ! But I don’t see that big of a difference in the performance of the steez over the zillion. For the price difference!
@The_Bass_Stunters5 ай бұрын
There isn’t any with performance really. It’s just the material of the actual reel.
@911Getsome6 ай бұрын
Not mine ! First time I’ve EVER heard that from a Zillion owner. Maybe you need to learn how to adjust it. It took me a while to fine tune it.
