This is the most amazing Mini Bike build series on youtube IMO

You said you have that "Butterfly in the belly feeling". That's part of what keeps us coming back. For some of us, that never goes away. I'm not sure everyone gets it but if you are lucky enough to have something that gives you that feeling, it's part of the passion. There are people who get that from other things (programmers get it from starting a new program for the first time). I've been playing with cars/machines for 50 years and that first start is "IT" for me.

An easier method to fix your battery box issue would have been to move the box so that it was on top of the frame brackets so it was sandwiched between the frame and seat. Remove the bolts, and the box is still sitting on the frame.

A lot of motorcycle exhaust systems are double tubing to stop discoloration and so that the outside doesn't get severly hot and overheat your legs or feet.

This is currently my favorite build on KZbin! Not only is the craftsmanship damn impressive, but I really like the way you film your videos. I look forward to the completion of the project, but I have enjoyed every minute of the series. Keep up the great work! I like your pipe expander rig you set up on the press! Isn’t it just so satisfying when such simple things like that work so incredibly well?
@John_Makes2 жыл бұрын
I swear I am the most stoked person to follow this build! Due to having an exact same engine for my current powerwheels build. I made my exhaust a week ago and I actually utilized the original one. I cut up the doubble-wall tubing and used only the outer tube to make the new one. Yesterday I also made a batterybox and started bundling up the wiring. It's close to a start up and MAN was this inspiring to hear yours! Love the bike 🔥

The crank journals are opposite each other like in a Honda. It sounds proper for that arrangement. A Harley uses one journal for both rods that's why it gets the potato potato sound. Oh and you didn't need to get shocked. Since the sound changed when you took one plug off and it was still running it had to been running on both cylinders. LOL
@michaelmeinzer58632 жыл бұрын
I assume he knew that at first one worked by his reaction, but for fun and to see if other sounds any different did the other. I hate getting shocked by bikes.

Probably one of your best builds yet. It's not the biggest, it's not the most complex, but this one, to me at least, shows that you're started grasping all the major build concepts. You're getting into aesthetics now. Cool stuff!

Love the build man! Simple Green and water are my go-to for the ultrasonic cleaner. A degreaser works really well as long as it isn't a heavy alkaline as that will etch aluminum. Keep up the great work!

Next time you want to see if both cylinders run(instead of shocking yourself) just use a temp gun on the exhaust, you'll know right away if one is not running or not properly. Also for your ultrasonic, they do sell fluid for that that will help dislodge and clean parts. Good work on the mini bike so far, can't wait to see you ride it.

For small parts use a metal mesh tea ball for them it keeps them contained and you don't have to fish for them later. float pins, needles ect............. Also the lithium ion battery will tank if charged close to freezing temps so be aware of that.
@vintagetintrader10622 жыл бұрын
I’ve used a few of these mufflers, there are many cheap exhaust inserts (51mm) available that fit and work well to keep down the sound. The little v2 engines usually sound good and still have the distinctive V2 sound, I would guess as your primary header is so long and the rear so short, by the time the sound gets from the front cylinder firing, the rear is almost firing so the sound is less uneven and sounds closer to a single. Most factory exhausts on v twins has the secondary header loped forward before going back to increase its length before joining the primary pipe.

You should use a carb synchronization tool on any multi carb engine where you take them all apart. And the reason the chain is jumping is probably due to power pulses from the engine.

Great build Chris. Re. your clutch, the plates will just be stuck from standing. Just cable tie the lever in and once you can sit on it and roll a bit to engage 1st gear the plates will break loose. More likely though you will do it right not easy and strip the clutch 😉, love your work. Thanks for sharing, Paul (UK)

Don't know if anyone has told you, but when you're planning for foot placement on the pegs, you're supposed to ride with the ball of your foot on the peg, not your foot arch. You're supposed to slide your foot forward to shift or brake, and then bring it back. There's a couple of reasons why you're supposed to do this, but the two you need to worry about are; 1: dragging toe on ground when leaning, and 2: better stability and control over the bike.

Hey :) I want to clear something about your "muffler".. you got there an after market exhaust header, its an sc project and its pretty good as far as quality goes, it doesnt make the sound much quieter!!! Its just tones it to bee little more bassy than a straight pipe "wich you got there", to make it remotely quiet you have to do what a stock exhaust makes, they record the engine sound and make the buffler in a shape so the acoustics inside will cancel eachother so the escaping sound is tons tons quieter.. Its pretty hard to do at home.. though theres a solution you can take a pipe make a lot of holes in it and then wrap it with insulating ceramic wool and put another pipe on it make it much larger ( doesn't has to be round) fit it under the seat or something that should lower the db to a point that you dont need ear protection to idle it😅 Hope youll find this comment and it will help you :)

@jasonbirch11822 жыл бұрын
It's turning out pretty good. I would suggest in the future maybe, chop up an existing tank for some curves in the corners/top. That one is a bit bulky. The funny thing about this project is that you have gone the complete opposite of the original. They tried to make a small engine look big in their frame. Double wall exhaust so it doesn't look like a pea shooter on a big bike.
@apexaero2 жыл бұрын
Just a couple/three of quarter inch wire struts parallel to the piping spaced off one eight inch. Stops the rub while spacing you away from the exhaust pipe both the ankle and heal. Check the pipes for heat. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . way easier than pulling wires
@KoltFin2 жыл бұрын
Id highly recommend header wrap on the header. Like on the merge pipe and leave the front header exposed and just painted black. And then make some aluminum heat shield(s) to kinda hide the wrap and be another thing to keep the heat down.

Great built. You might just need to balance the carbs (vacuum gauge) to get it running like a twin. Once the float height and jets are clean you should be ok. For the clutch it is common for the plates to together from not being used in a while. They should free up when you'll drive the bike. Great job on the exhaust. 👌😎
