Getting the Most Out of Rootsmagic 9 Book - The Truth about the quality

Thank you!! Was about to order the book as I thought those issues are bound to be cleared up by now - judging from reviews they're not. So just bought a copy of the RM7 book for £2.98 (with free p&p!) and hope that'll at least give me some basics.

You're welcome, ordering the book was the only way I could factually comment. Sadly there were so many conflicting comments about the quality it was the only answer. When I rang Amazon to get a refund they told me to dump the book and processed the refund.

Almost a year later, and it's still there and still just as badly printed. What I don't get is that if they can have a perfectly legible preview version with the colour intact, why can they not just sell a colour PDF version? Surely that would be an easy solve. There's also more money to be had in electronic versions as there's no printing costs.

I don't, and didn't, expect it to change, sadly that's the Rootsmagic way. I'm not a book reviewer but I mentioned a book in my latest video, the paper copy was in full colour and a PDF is available. Rootsmagic only need to instruct Amazon to print in colour but it will cost them more to do so, less profit.

I’d be willing to bet that the official response will be along the lines of “The issue has been reported to development.” The standard response.

They stayed very quiet on the issue, head in sand approach. I noticed some of the early support statements of confusion were later deleted, yet those pointing the finger at Amazon were left in place ??

You say you no longer use Roots magic what do you use if anything to replace it, it does do a lot of good things despite the bad.

I left Rootsmagic after 20+ years and testing RM8. Not an easy choice but my research came first and 8/9 were slower and more buggy than RM7. Rootsmagic 8 purchasers never got the program they paid for so I have no regrets detaching myself from the company and product. I still show the product in comparisons but use Family Historian for research now, you will see this in my other videos.
