I keep on commenting even though I feel like you don’t really listen to my advise I’m giving you ... I commented on earlier videos, don’t go around chasing your own tail with going too agressive on the Subaru paint. But I’m glad you finally moved over to a finishing polish on the least agressive pad you have. FINALLY it’s all coming together now. I’m waiting for my shoutout for commenting on literally every detailing video you have done on this car trying to give advise 😉✌🏻🇿🇦

Nice! Similar to using sandpaper, the more aggressive compound and pad combo will leave micromarring and look a little hazy. It's great for cutting quickly. You generally follow up with a less aggressive finishing pad and compound to remove the micromarring and give that deep shine.
@runeaa954 жыл бұрын
Just my little tip on the buffing prosses. I work at a car dealership and do rubbing/polishing and coating on a lot of cars we have in. I would recommend using less compound in the prosess, then you really working the compound in the paint. If you use to much compound, you end up just spinning the compound around and get less heat to the panels. Keep ut the good work!

Do you have Oil/Water separator on your hose ? Did you removed the sludge from compressor ? By time oil mixed with water stucks at bottom of compressor tank and it can spit in your paint gun this "greasy" mix and make these little pin holes So you have to remove this greasy sludge from the comporessor tank once in a while ( sorry for my bad english :D )

For the 2 step paint correction, this is my goto combo. Works on really well on pretty much every car I have worked on Step 1: Jescar Correcting compound with 5” Meguiars microfiber cutting pad Step 2: Sonax Perfect Finish with Chemical Guys Orange pad

Silicone from the sanding pad can makes pinhole defect in paint ,or like you said solvent pop. Your orange peel is coming from your paint temp being to cold .

You can dab clear into those pin holes, with a fine tipped brush, then sand them flat, and polish it out to fix them. I've seen show car owners do it with rock chips at a car show, and you could not tell they were repaired. Also use the Griot's red pad for polish, and wax on softer paint that shows micro marring in sunlight.

Haziness is caused from the paint being heated up and bleaching out. If you feel it and it’s warm either wait a few minutes and then go over quickly with polish or while it’s warm spray lightly with water and lightly buff to disperse the heat to where the cloud will go away.
@ashishpatel3504 жыл бұрын
Those pin holes seem to be the paint off gassing after it's applied. Like if you don't leave enough time between coats the carrier chemical doesn't have time to evaporate. And it shows up as pinhole bubbles.
@RP-xb3vh4 жыл бұрын
I did detailing for years and used similar products. One thing is for sure paint that has been buffed scratches way easier than original OEM paint because you’re essentially taking a layer off the clear coat when buffing. The think the Invidia is screaming for some chrome polish haha

At subaru, we call those spots "popping". Basically too much material got layed down too fast. Air got trapped in the base and had to escape through the clear. Sometimes you can buff them shut.

Have you checked out obsessed garage? Meguiars microfiber for cutting, Rupes yellow foam for finishing. For the condition this paint was in, Meguiars 101 would have been easier to get the cut you wanted over 105. Sonax perfect finish for polish is great. That said, the 105/205 combo is fine and the result will ultimately come down to technique and level of effort. Black paint is tricky, Subaru paint is soft. You made what you had work and it looks great.

Getting ready to do my first ceramic coating, i estimate a two day process since new to the polishing spending extra time on everything will take time. That is why if you get this done at a shop it will cost you around 3 or 4 grand verses 300 bucks to buy all supplies and polisher

There is a kit on amazon for the white cutting pad to use with the 105, blue polishing pad to use with the 205 and the red finishing pad that I use with the 21 mirror glaze synthetic sealant 2.0 from Meguiars.

Even if its a little hazy after cutting the polish will help get rid of that. Also if you plan to buffing out any of your other cars try giving 3m step 1 compound and step 2 polish a try, I'm an auto body tech/painter and I do have to buff some of the cars and 3m makes some awesome products. love the car BTW, good job with what you've done so far.

Microfiber is the most aggressive paint correction pad for the DA. I would actually use Meguiar's Microfiber Cutting Pads over the ones you have. They are available everywhere and are cheap. I would also use Meguiar's M110 instead of M105. M110 is the new and improved version of M105. M110 is more aggressive, finishes nicer, and has virtually NO dust.

Microfiber pads are tough with softer paint. Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda, Porsche etc. Foam pad will inflict less micro marring and hazing. Do yourself a favor and use a little detailer or water with the 105 bc it does tend to dust. 205 you can work forever though
@juanmaldonado72044 жыл бұрын
I love your guys learning curve it’s awesome. Great to see people trying shit out. For basics I would use a meguiars microfiber cutting pad on super messed up paint on harder paints and a rupes purple wool pad for softer paint, the I would follow with a sonnox polish (great professional products), and some lake country foam pads. A ultra fine pad for softer paint. The griots fast cutting compound is great too. I feel like the 205 is kinda left in the dust now.

pin hole could have been dirt in the lower levels of the paint. if you get dirt under the base coat but on top of the primer when you sand it out your going to pull the paint with it obviously. people seem to think if you get dirt in the paint in the lower layers you can sand it out later. thats not how it works...
@Techgizmo44444 жыл бұрын
Sometimes with super soft paint polishing will haze the paint and the compound is too aggressive. Try using water as the compound and a polishing pad. Had to this with my Evo X since their paint is so soft.
@joshmorrow4244 жыл бұрын
Megs MF cutting disc or Lake Country cutting. The Urofiber Hybrid pads I've recently been running in my shop hard too, subject to not come back though haha. All these for cutting. M110, Sonax Cutmax, M100 on the compound end. Rupes yellow polishing pads. I can beat them up car after car. I dont buy as many as they last in my case longer. REALLY soft paint I will use a Rupes white and a polish if it just won't finish. M210/5. Sonax Perfect Finish (HEAVY in polishing oils. Can be compound like on some paint too). CarPro Essence. Hyper Polish. For the gloss magic

Do you think those spots on the hood are Fish eyes . Silicone or wax can cause them .I used to work in a paint shop and a guy brought a car in with a lot of wax on it for us to fix a dent . It caused all the other paint jobs to fish eye kind of like your car hood did for two weeks after we were done with his car . We used a special cleaner on his car to remove wax but still it caused prob. We had to put fish eye remover in the clear and paint for a month .

using a true buffing wheel instead of a da ,, and long wool pads make it all go faster , way way faster ... but ya gotta be careful , they will burn right through stuff , its all about a slight angle .. so the next budget build with bad paint just go ahead and give it a shot .. its coming together though and looks real good for what it is ..

It would have been so much faster job with Rupes Bigfoot polishers and Rupes blue woolpad or Meguiars microfiber cutting pad. Second step rupes yellow or white foam pad. TLC+ for compound and for finishing Sonax Perfect Finish. There are tons of other goodcompounds/polishes too, but Meguiars m105 isnt one of them. M110 however is great compound. M210 and M205 are good polishes. Also i would suggest to tape edges when you sand, it is so easy to cut through
@ysonjohn144 жыл бұрын
next time use rupes or lake country pads, theyr more effective, my fav pads are rupes blue coarse polishing pad, which cuts rlly gud yet leaving a great finish and the lake country HDO orange pad for polishing, for most japnese cars(soft paint) its better to use a soft pad with heavy compound and haard paint with coarse pad with polishing compound.
