As a dual citizen I fully understand the stress of traveling with 2 passports and all the headaches that come with it. Thankfully the country I live in I don’t have to give up either citizenship

In the US the reason why you have to come with the children and BOTH parents (unless you have an affidavit) to apply for a passport is to prevent a parent from getting a passport for their children without the other parents knowledge. Because kidnapping your kids to another country is a thing here.

@@AndreosValentine I did know. I’ve followed Megan for a long years. Everyone knows how DNA works. Your comment and opinion is irrelevant to me so you could’ve just kept it to yourself. I hope one day when you experience parenthood, you’ll understand the beauty of being familial without the constant reminders of whose DNA your children have! For the many children who are adopted, who are surrogated and donated eggs by family members, may they all feel as much love and deep connections with those who raise them and choose to be their parents! May they shake off people like you, who can break their hearts with your words, just because you need to prove a point of how DNA works!

You also have to remember what things cost in South Korea vs Canada and the US. And the huge pay difference between South Korean workers and Canadian/American workers…unless you know something i dont. Are there nice apartments in Canada that you can rent for $400-500 like there is in South Korea?
@Maggs-lp

@@book_worm22 No there aren’t really! Rent is through the roof. Awful quality one bedroom apartments are minimum $1200 without utilities included, and that’s in the poorest part of the country. Minimum wage varies across the country but it’s usually around $11-12 an hour.

@@Maggs-lp Not sure where you live but in my city the minimum wage is 15,25$/hr and I'm paying 800$/month for a nice even though not fancy 3 bedroom apartment Canada is huge and really diverse so it's pretty much impossible to use the whole country for comparison purposes 😅
@Maggs-lp
@Maggs-lp Жыл бұрын
@@veebie0015 I wonder how long you’ve been in your current apartment? If it’s been a while, I can guarantee your landlord is just thirsting for you to get out so they can raise that rate. Luna was so happy with her "gift" haha but it looks like they will soon be holy terrors racing around in different directions now they are up and ready to walk. It's very interesting about the military, who knows what will be going on in another 18 years. We had mandatory service for a year here in the Netherlands but just when my brother would be getting old enough they stopped that, so my older male cousins went but my brother didn't. Back then there were no wars to be active in so it was just a year of young men hanging out with other equally unmotivated men doing work outs and chores. Safe to say they did not enjoy that. But on the other hand if anything went on., like a dike breach they would have the boys over there is no time filling sandbags and helping out. The dutch military still does a lot of humanitarian work like hooking up water in other countries. Sadly they do have to fight now with the way the world is going now.

Korea seems similar to Japan. You technically have to give it up, but that usually means talking to the non-Korean country to get it done. If it's like Japan, they aren't confirming if you did it or not. As that would require a lot of work and communication with many countries. Basically, in Japan, at least, there are plenty who still have maintained both citizenships because Japan never checks.

I just watched the video and was wondering if Korean has laws about property ownership if you weren't a Korean citizen, as Moon's parents and home might one day be his/yours but if one day, Mr. Moon passes away, being an American citizenship might have more difficulties down the road. I suppose it could be left to the children if they both have Korean citizenship, might be okay until they make their decision. Carrying dual passports must be a headache as well as those countries of the passport tracking. I imagine during the war years and conflicts in America about who was traveling in and out of the country, some government official says print out all the lists of inbound/out bound international travelers and they say, we have this American Megan Moon coming in but no record of her ever leaving the country, the last time, we have her is only coming in, how did she leave? Or vice versa? Wouldn't they have records of which passports are being used along with the people? It is a good topic and interesting. I was wondering if Korean has the tech or people that do like they have for missing children where they make pictures of how missing children would look if they were gone for years. With the twins being so young, I was wondering if Mr. Moon and Megan ever wondered what the twins might look like as adults. That might be a interesting and personal decision of both to see without waiting how the twins would look and compare as they age.

Some of this information is conveyed a bit unclear so I just want to clarify - for boys, 18th birthday is the CUTOFF date, meaning that they can renounce korean citizenship prior to that date but once it passes, its then too late. For Korean girls, they can keep dual for their entire lives but they have to register and report their dual citizenship by their 22nd bday

Megan, love your family videos, the babies are getting so big. I'd like to know is Mr. Moon's English progressing? Is he studying in case you do move to the states for a bit?

Yes Megan. I have 7 passports that I carried on our trip home. One for my partner and 2 each for my children and myself. I can vote in the US and UK elections.

Having both is nice especially if you two come to stay in the US for a few years and move back and forth, would be really interesting content still because you guys are entertaining ones not where you live. ❤😊 🇰🇷 🇺🇸

I also have dual citizenship Portuguese/Angolan, and so do my children and husband...... lets just say we have a bag with all documents so that we do not loose any while travelling. It is stressful, but you do get used to it and then just becomes muscle memory.

It seems strange that if you have a duel Korean citizenship you have to follow their rules abroad but the rules in your other citizenship says it is fine??? That is so confusing.

OMG I'm getting crazy since I got to Korea with veery tech object talking! I'm always stressed out if the machine is yelling at me at the grocery store or in the metro! And when I heard your car talking to you I laughed so hard!
