In Berlin there is a beautiful little romantic island called Pfaueninsel (peacock island). Some years ago I spend a wonderful long weekend with my love there. It was a very cold, bright sunny first advent. The little fairy was empty - only half a dozen visitors on the island and the peacock were crying…. As a child I saw Juliette Greco there and in the summertime it is full of tourists. It is a very special place in the middle of Grunewald - the big city forest . This turned out so great! After hearing you talk about the life size peacock for so long, my thoughts about what you wanted were no where near this. 😆 I imagined a peacock sitting on the top of your tree with his magnificent tail wrapping the length of it. I love this idea more (but still wouldn’t mind seeing one wrapped around the tree, 😂.) Very much looking forward to this years decorating, and pray that your feeling the festive mood.

You can try using floral wire and pipe cleaners to curve the tail. It is also sometimes easier to DIP the piece you are trying to add glue to into a shallow container.

Did your boys ever get to decorate a family tree like with school ornaments ?

Their schools never made ornaments. It s a Christian holiday and we have diverse school systems, at least in the towns we lived in, here in New Jersey. They made pottery items which I have kept, plates and bowls. But that was around Mother's Day, which is not a religious holiday.
