So exciting! That water color change was incredible! Thanks for sharing your excursion!

I think the color of the water is the most striking thing about the Bahamas.

Awesome! Did you cross with any other boats?
@onFIREfamily Жыл бұрын
No, but there were plenty of boats out there on such a nice day so we had company.

You guys did a nice job shooting and editing this video. You should consider putting the kids in charge of video shooting and productions and pay them the proceeds. Might be a good job for a kid. Thanks for sharing your faith, your family, and your journey.

Wow, your patience got you a truly ideal crossing. I had to cross once in far less than ideal conditions and it was a slow, up and down slog. Enjoyed the video.

Would you mind sharing your fuel usage to get to the Bahamas on a very smooth day please?
@onFIREfamily Жыл бұрын
Something around 60gallons for our route from north of Key Largo to Bimini. We get around 1.8mi/gal at our normal slow cruising speed.

Bon voyage! May the wind be at your back and sunshine in front of you. Have a great time in the Bahamas. We tried to cross once but the weather window was not in our favor for our limited travel schedule
@onFIREfamily Жыл бұрын
It’s all about the weather. We found that out once we arrived. We had a less than ideal crossing back but we made it.
@mattgreven7615 Жыл бұрын
What was your crusing speed? I'm always curious why people who CAN do 16-20 choose to do 8-10. Is it just fuel cost (which I understand can be a significant difference)?
@onFIREfamily Жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s fuel cost. At double the speed, it’s probably 5-10x the burn rate, depending on the boat.

Congrats on the perfect crossing, you guys have proven once again that patients and common sense pay off. Glad you made it safely.

Thanks! Stay tuned for the less smooth crossing back! He he

Congratulations on making it to the Bahamas. Your crossing looking very uneventful and that’s a good thing. Did the Gulf Stream speed you up a lot? When I crossed in late March, the current was running pretty good. I was doing 13 kts at about 1300 rpm. I actually had to idle back to keep from going faster than I was comfortable with. Enjoy your stay. I’ll be looking around for you. Maybe we can hook up.

We picked up a couple knots. Not as much as we had hoped so had to adjust course.
