Getting to Duna in KSP2

In this episode we are building an interplanetary ship and we are getting to Duna in KSP2. We will design and launch the craft, do interplanetary transfers, and hopefully land on the surface of Duna, so help me kraken....

The fuel bug is due to the landing gear. Having those landing gear on a piece force-enables fuel cross-feed regardless of any other settings. Using the huge legs will avoid the issue until it's fixed.

I've run into this and will try that mitigation next time I play. I'd bet that the lander tank was drained during the launch / first stage so by the time the nuclear engines came into use it it was already empty...

Next to the launch button, you can press the "Left Triangle Button" and it will show you Delta V per stage.

@@GrunfWorks TL;DR - a little story of how i got things "done", had to send a rescue mission... had to send a rescue mission for the rescue mission to get the increasing number of kerbalnauts back home. This video, and your station video was crucial for mission success. No Kerbalnaut Left Behind: I had a wild mission to the Mun. I made an orbiter and lander apollo style - connected upside down. 2 things went wrong on the first mission. 1. was the Jebidiah had snug onboard the lander (even though i told the game the lander had to be empty) So.. i knew one of them would strand on the moon any way. 2nd thing that went wrong was that i had the same issue as you that the fuel was gone from the lander when i came to the Mun. I cross fed the fuel from the orbiter to the lander. and then just barely landed the lander x) - I had put way to much RCS fuel on it. so it was heavy as hell. But the lander was landed, and Valentina and Jebidiah became "The Munians" Bill quickly went on a rescue mission with a redesigned lander that could take 3 crew. I was "smarter" this time, I cross fed the last fuel from my second stage to the lander, "fixing" the fuel issue, and send if off to a crash course on the mun before putting the lander and orbiter into orbit. I placed the orbiter at 70km above the Mun and went down, saved Jebidiah and Valentina 8 days later. Then i got them into orbit. how ever i could only get them into a 35km orbit. Now my 3rd error came... Since there was no crew in the orbiter.. and no antennas i could not remote control it or link up with the lander. SO! Billemone went off in a rocket without a lander (it was fast, i had so much fuel around the mun) It then took me an hour or so to rendezvous with the lander (your station movie was a great help there btw) - transfer crew to the craft. de-orbit the lander so i didn't leave more trash around the Mun, and then go home. after 16 days in space, Jebidiah and Valentina was back on Kerbal.

i only do propulsive landings in KSP2 on planets / moons that don't have an atmosphere. Therefore my Duna-Rockets usualy have a ridiculus number of parachutes :D

Sorry haven't watched too many of these KSP 2 vids. Trying to keep it fresh for myself until I get my hands on it, but still liking, and letting it play in the background while I do other things, lol... My bad. Sooooo I broke down and bought the game, lmao... Managed to pull off the extra funds for the month so it wasn't a prob. Rebuilt this mission, BUT missed the stack seperator and couldn't detach the lander SOOOO I went to Ike instead, and landed the entire ship there, lol... Mission, success, sort of... Great video man...

I encountered the same thing with one of my stages after undocking... I think disabling fuel crossfeed on the docking port before launch will fix the issue.

Is it possible to deactivate the tanks for the lander while youre in transit, like in KSP1, to protect the fuel supply? I'm asking, bcz I haven't played yet.

There are lot of bugs at the moment. For every successful mission there is at least 4h of failing

you can either assign it to action group hotkey while in VAB or you have to do it manually through parts manager while in flight.

Understandable, 50 $ is a big ask for a buggy game. Hopefully major issues will get fixed soon :-). For me it does not matter but last night thing i was recording took 2h instead of 30 mins so i get the point.

​@@GrunfWorks quite clever pricing, just high enough not to entice too many and they know those that buy it will likely be good KSP 1 players and therefore get much better quality feedback. I'd be surprised if they really do increase the price, once the games stable I think they would probably make it £60 and then that means on sale it's £30-40... All very well thought out this and not all about making the most money... Which of course they have to do.

Step 1. Uninstall KSP2, Step 2, Get ksp and put 20 mins worth of mods and its better than this. step 3 enjoy.

Here is alternative. Get KSP2 mods from startdock that fix the game. Enjoy (just FYI i am just now doing that - downloading ksp2 mods .-) )
