Holy crap. I’ve been sitting around depressed all day and this man just made me realize what I’ve been doing. I’m suffering. And somehow realizing that infuses me with so much energy and relief. We don’t suffer because we don’t have XYZ....we suffer because it’s the human condition.

So many people misunderstand Buddhism because of the importance put on suffering-one of my teachers had a PhD in Philosophy and criticized Buddhism for this, but really had no understanding of Buddhism. I love Mingyur Rinpoche's clear and simple illustrations. Very refreshing!

@@universalinsights3314 true. It would be nice however if we would have been given some kind of hint as to why/what action in this or past life have we done to attract such karma. But I guess it’s way too much to ask. This World was made for suffering and hard lessons… it wasn’t made to be easy. I also don’t understand the notion of removing suffering- desires and expectations . What kind of life is that without desires and expectations- most people will fall in deep apathy and depression if they have nothing to strive for, no desires. I am not saying one has to be obsessed with desiring something. But no desires, wants and needs isn’t really a living here on Earth. Just apathetic existence.

Yes. However we can not be judged for attachments since it was made that we forget everything after we are born and we have no other memory apart from this existence and the people in it. We are made to live in seemingly unfair and aggressive World where most beautiful things happen along with most tragic ones with no explanation. It’s hard to make sense of it all. We have no knowledge of what happens after we die. It’s normal for us to be attached to loved ones and this life. I feel it’s unrealistic for anyone / any God to expect of us to be non attached. Besides most people will fall into depression and apathy.

Dukkha as a part of 4 noble truths (Cattari Ariya Saccani) is comprised of: 1. Common suffering (Dukkha-dukkha), having common cold, stomacache, toothache, etc 2. Pain caused by impermanence (Viparinama-Dukkha): losing/be separated from the one you love, meeting/gather with the one you hate, not achieving your aspirations 3. Suffering as a consequence of having a physical body (Sankhara-Dukkha): Old age, sickness, death And these suffering comes from unending thirst (Tanha) of worldly pleasures/desires and Avijja/ignorance or misconception of the noble truths that caused Kilesa (defilement/darkness of the mind) which are: 1. Lobha (Greed, craving for more) 2. Dosa (Hate, wishing bad things happen to others) 3. Moha (Not able to differentiate whether an act is right or wrong, having a wrong view of the world) (There is still so many derivatives of the kilesa there wont be enough space to explain here)

@@jeffforsythe9514 God? God generates fear of punishment. Fear is pain. Get rid of the idea that a god exists by watching some episodes of Atheist Experience, and that's one whole lot less agony to suffer. Help your fellow Earth inhabitant, because you want to through your own natural, instinctive goodness and generosity - not because you think a god is watching and judging your every action, deciding whether you should go to heaven or hell. Helping your fellow creature through 'fear of god' is insincere, and 'true' sincerity can only be mastered if you take action knowing that you do so entirely 'alone' and without the weight of 'judgement' and 'watchfulness' upon you.

Very educative. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to you.

Dear Tergar, J. Krishnamurti says, regarding anger (more or less): "you have divided yourself into you and the one who is angry. Is there only the watching of the anger, the seeing of it? Is it that you become the anger? Is it possible that with the very seeing of it, it ends?" I am confusing my self on the division subject. Someone tells: you and the anger, you watch the anger. Some other says: it doesn't exist, someone says: its a field of energy that takes over you, some other says you are the anger. Can this confusion be dissipated, considering that the questioner doesn't have in his experience right now, or doesn't recognise if had, the subject of witnessing as consciousness that is not identification with the witnessed, and which is liberating from the object (like anger or suffer)?

What they mean is that:In anger & fear,we become the emotion.We are not aware at that time.Only due to our unconsciousness can they exist.So when you are aware of it,it disappears.our life energies can be expressed differently a/c to our level of awareness.(Anger/hatred/greed/compassion/joy etc) But you should meditate to know it rather than just trying to understand. I think there's a beauty to the relentless striving to improve, but there are two problems with it: 1. It is impermanent, too. Eventually, I will not be able to become any more talented, or I might lose my abilities. This leads to suffering. 2. It is a form of escape. Constant work seems to me to be a way to cover up and hide from the fundamental discontent we experience. The materialist lie is 'having more and doing more will make you happy'.

HIT ME This quote from the Joker actor Heath Ledger from "The Dark Knight" made a huge impact on me and inspired me to create a philosophy. It helped me make peace with all of that. Through practices of all kinds. I have learned to love my trauma, my illness, my feelings, my thoughts, my conflicts, my life and ultimately my suffering. The hits are a fact of life and the key to enlightenment. A hit affects you, internally or superficially. Everyone and everything has this HIT ME side in it. HIT ME always works. And you will never be disappointed with this life expectation. Because something always hits you. Even if you don't want to be hit by something, it still hits you. Hence, it still works as a life expectation. It even works when positive things hit you. Like soft raindrops or a soap bubble. Same as joy or bliss. Hit me all the way, in any way, anyway (even if sometimes or often I don't want it). If you commit yourself to such an idea, you decipher the path to enlightenment. It is therefore a good reason to follow the path of loving our suffering. Because it brings you great benefits. From ourselves, when we don't want to be hit and don't want to take in the hits, to the desire to be hit and take in the hits. It always works, regardless of the form. Once one has developed a certain level of this practice, one masters the suffering and becomes truly enlightened. And for conflicts, but also that which hits us in general, I quote Bruce Lee: "I do not hit. It hits all by itself." Wanting Not Wanting Wanting and not wanting is a hypnotic spiral and by wanting not wanting, you get into the everchanging flow of yin and yang. The Way Out Of The Abyss Only when we can accept, what we want to let go, can we let go, of what we want to accept. A peaceful mind is the cure for restlessness. And love is the cure for a broken spirit. Pain is strength in disguise waiting to be revealed. And it takes a lot of strength to cry. Because when we cry, we open ourselves to the pain we experience. When all the waves are crashing down on you, there is faith to get you through. Express your belief in reality and believe in it. This is how you get through the waves. We make mistakes because we are not perfect. And for this fact I am grateful that I make mistakes. Remember that the solution to any problem, is the problem itself. It came into existence and it won't leave you. A sacrifice for love is a sacrifice worth dying for. We don't have to undo the things we do wrong or have done wrong in life. We die for it and thus sacrifice ourselves for love. Hence, die for your negative qualities. And live for your positive qualities. That is the sacrifice and the salvation of the human spirit. The guilt we feel is the one that enslaves us. Only when we also remember our innocence are we free at the same time. There is nothing in this universe that can harm a mad person. Except to make the mad person even more insane through harm. When one is ready to take in all hits, in order to gain strength from them and at the same time is ready to pass on all the love out of compassion to others; one will be as strong as a demon and as compassionate as an angel. A demonic angel. A victory can be achieved by resolving the battles within. When you give up fighting yourself and instead start absorbing yourself; you will be invincible. When you change the powers that hold you back, into the powers that hold your back, you will be unstoppable. You are an example of what a human being is capable of. Use the hits as fuel for the ascent. Because the greatest bliss is found when you make peace with your suffering. Because suffering is the root of blissfulness. If you love your suffering, blissfulness arises. And blissfulness is the key to heaven on earth. When you conquer yourself by loving yourself, your fears, your pain and ultimately your suffering; then it will transform you and you will be reborn. In order to overcome suffering, one must become suffering oneself. Because when you are one with all, you are bound by nothing and therefore free from everything. And by becoming one with suffering, you master it. The journey to enlightenment is a process that involves a lot of suffering. But in the end, every moment of suffering will be worth it. Because choosing to suffer consciously is the springboard to enlightenment. This is how you remember your origin and you begin to embody it. Because where there is suffering, the love spark resides. And the fire is kindled where God or consciousness enters and spreads. Become Ryu, the dragon. Become suffering. Have a relationship with the suffering (HIT ME) from sadness to madness. Want the not wanting. And become the suffering yourself, (HIT ME) and the hits. And Ryu, the dragon spreads its wings and rises with the darkening and the enlightenment. So the dragon finds the way out of the abyss.

I understand the other kind of suffering that comes from attachment, from wanting more and more and no matter how much you have it doesn’t make you happy. In fact, the more you have the more suffering it causes. That I grasp. I’m trying to understand why I am so sick and suffering, and I can’t. I have been sick all year and nobody can figure out what’s wrong with me. He always talks about suffering and materialism, but not sickness and suffering and that’s really what I need help with. We were born on this planet to suffer. Now everyone is thinking, where's your proof. I have no proof but I do have a couple of hints. At all of our births, neither the mother nor the infant is laughing and likewise at our moment of death. Only a Being that is perfectly Good would suffer if it were under the impression and believe that it is not perfectly Good. A being that is not perfectly Good would not miss being Good, nor long for being Good while under the impression and believe It is not What it Is. Only a Being that is perfectly Good would be perfectly happy with Itself, and will that also others be just as perfectly happy as It is. To accomplish that it would be willing to experience being someone else, to (once experiencing being that other) remember as that other Who it really is, so now also the other enjoys Being that perfectly Good One. Yet for the perfectly Good One to at first experience being someone else, someone that did not exist before, and therefore must be different from the perfectly Good One Who already is, is suffering. Yet out of Its perfect Goodness (infinitely great pure altruistic Charity) It was willing to undergo all the suffering It would experience as that other. Until as that other It would remember it is the perfectly Good One, and beginning to experience Itself by no longer identifying with the being It but seemed to be as the other, It comes to Itself, Its Life, Its original Happiness (which It had sacrificed for the other by taking on the experience of being the other) so now It enjoys Being Itself again, but now also as the other who did not exist before, and therefore did not have the happiness of the perfectly Good One yet either. And all this entirely to the benefit of the other, for the perfectly Good One only regains what It had voluntarily given up to have it again but when also the other would have it. It is the perfectly Good One reading this now in the appearance of the other. And all human appearances are the appearance of the perfectly Good One.

@GuildOfTheImmortalBlades
@GuildOfTheImmortalBlades Жыл бұрын
How I perceive it is that like is to suffer, your born and you suffer, you grow up and you suffer, you grow old and you suffer, but suffering doesn’t end in death because you can be reborn in 1 of the six realms such as hell, be born there and suffer grow up and suffer but over a longer period of time such as 100s of 1000s of years before repenting sins and being reborn again in another realm to suffer again, there is no god to pray to, there is nothing that can be said to comprehend a god, there is no one god but there is the power of gods, everyone dies even gods and then they are reincarnated to suffer, no god created what is, It was what is now without one creating it, life is an infinite loop of being born suffering and dying something that isn’t good and needs to be escaped.
