I wish you'd make more video content (for KZbin). When I listened to your Starting-Strength Q&A video that came out a short while ago (early June 2020), I quickly tried to find more of your advice on lifting matters and found your channel here and your website. As I'm located in Europe (Netherlands to be more precise), which is not anywhere near the Houston area where your gym is located (unless I manage to bend the space-time continuum somehow), your information in video or written content is invaluable to me. There are very few knowledgeable lifting coaches out there and even fewer who can string a coherent sentence together :) I mean you speak very clearly and you don't fluff up your thoughts. I learned just about everything about lifting through the internet medium from people such as yourself, who are so kind to provide solid information for whomever who stumbles on it or actively searches for it online. Thank you.

Thanks man. I'll try and get regular with it again. Putting out good content is almost like a full time job. When my gym gets busy, I fall behind on all the social media stuff. Thanks again for the support!! Andy

You went a bit longer than you wanted to? I could listen to you all day! You're videos are so informative. 🙂Not many good coaches here in Liverpool that can train middle aged women for strength. 😏

I’m 56, weight lift and do cardio about 5x week for about 60-90 minutes very intensely and have a very nutritional diet. PT training in the U.S. Marines never got out of my lifestyle. While putting my mt. bike into the back of the SUV one handed in the supination grip, I heard the loud pop of my distal tendon rupture off my forearm bone. I was lucky to get surgery within 72 hours and had the “endobutton procedure” done by one of the best orthopedic sport surgeons (Dr. Laura Timmerman). I was one of the unlucky 3-4% who lose all mobility of my fingers which was very unnerving (pun intendoned). She said my radial nerve must have been stretched but she was adamant she was extremely cautious about this. Fortunately within a week I regained full feeling and mobility of my fingers. I’m mentioning this to ease anxiety if this happens to you. Now I have a high tolerance to pain but I will tell you after I got the immobilized splint off a week later my pain level was about an 8 early in the mornings then about a 3-4 the rest of the day until evening when it starts climbing again. I’m now a month post op and the pain level remains the same. I have numbness on my forearm but I can make a fist and squeeze really hard. I can fully extend my arm out but I certainly can’t twist open a doorknob or bottle top. I’m starting PT this week. So my question to anyone who has experienced this horrible injury is this. A month after the surgery are you at a pain level around 8 early in the morning like 3 or 4a.m.? So far Andy’s videos have been the most informative and most helpful above any other information I have heard. Thanks and may the rest of you have a speedy and full recovery! Semper Fi Andy!

Great video Andy! I was that spreadsheet warrior and kept program hopping. Still undecided on what I should do......as a LP program would run me to the ground with being in the military and school at the same time.

Thanks Andy! Another great advice dump. Some of that stuff I had to learn the hard way for myself. I was definitely a "no-coach, spreadsheet, no-cardio, no-assistance" kind of guy. But I think those lessons were valuable, made me a better lifter.

Hello Andy. I am a big fan of your training methods. I tried the Garage Gym warrior with great results after my LP, then i tried for some weeks your Texas method, then your new HLM, and now i am on week 6 of your KSC for Raw powrlifting. Until now everything it was ok, but this week every rep felt like a true 1RM, my knees are sores and also my lower back. i dont know if i am burnout or i had simply some bad days. What would you suggest me? After this program i will give a try at S&M after 40 (i am 43 years old). Thank you !

I would go as far to say a good coach can save you years of shitty lifts/traiining because that's what it's taken me to "self-teach". I would have hired a coach from the outset if I had known better. And I did consider myself an "athlete" prior to my start of training.

Do you do online coaching sir? If not, how can I find a starting strength coach in my area? Thanks very much for your content and any kind of info.

I am sure that I am misunderstanding what you said about online coaches who are 100% online with no in-person training being untrustworthy. That isn't what your saying right? Aren't there many SSOC coaches who are 100% online with no in-person training facilities? Maybe because they have been certified in-person training others in-person they are ok? Or what is the reasoning? Thanks Andy, I apologise in advance for not quite fully understanding what your trying to convey :)

I'm not saying that you must OWN a gym. However, as a consumer, I would want my online coach to have a background in coaching real people, in a real gym, as part of an ongoing practice. Having done both for 10+ years, I can tell you they aren't the same thing. You learn far more about coaching and programming on the gym floor than you do through email exchange.
