“Getting Very Annoyed With This Preposterous Prince” | Harry Loses Challenge Over State Security

The Duke of Sussex will seek to appeal against a High Court ruling dismissing his challenge over a decision to change the level of his personal security when he visits the UK, a spokesman has said.
Harry took legal action against the Home Office over the February 2020 decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of taxpayer-funded protection when in the country.
Ravec’s decision came as a result of a change in the Duke’s “status” after he stopped being a “full-time working member of the Royal Family”, a judge was told.
In a judgment on Wednesday, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane rejected the Duke’s case and concluded Ravec’s approach was not irrational nor procedurally unfair.

I don't think Harry can just appeal this decision, he needs permission from the Court of Appeal before he's allowed to proceed. I would hope that the CofA will refuse him permission, since the High Court's decision is crystal clear, and IMHO there are no grounds for an appeal in this case. NB It's not just 'royal status' he's after, he specifically wants 'International Protected Person' status, which he would get if his previous security level were reinstated, then any country he visits or lives in would have to meet all his security costs in future.

If he had won this case and his previous security level were reinstated, that still would not automatically entitle him to IPP reinstatement. IPP status is for working, representatives of their monarch or government whilst working abroad, and their immediate dependent family members. Since H is now a non-working royal and therefore not officially representing either his monarch or his country, and is living and travelling abroad by choice not necessity, as a private individual, it would be a very hot diplomatic potato for the UK government to insist to foreign governments that their taxpayers should pay for his security when he is in their country - which is how IPP status works.

It is not his protection in Britain that he wants or is concerned with but the security status. If the British Court had given in to him , it would have been all taxpayers anywhere in the world he and his family are that will have to pay for his protection there. If he had won protection in Britain than us the taxpayers in the US would be having to pay for his and his family's security in Montecito for life including Doria. Not only that but he would have access to any private information about friends or foes. That security escort was only given to him because he came uninvited and the King and Queen were preparing to leave for Sandringham. H was making them late as it was getting dark and the King and Queen do not like to copter in the dark. An escort was quickly scrambled to fetch him, as he was not expected, and they wanted him to not make the King and Queen any later than he already had. He did not get the same escort but had to find his own way back to Heathrow! Please Michael Cole get the facts correct and not use them to fit your narrative that he already gets adequate security!
