Great to see the snorkeling element, it would be great to see you doing your intro dives as well. I'm PADI certified but what I would say is, if you really get the bug go and find a local BSAC instructor. PADI (Pay And Dive Instantly) is great in warmer climates where you don't get the tidal changes we do in the UK. If you're going to dive predominantly in the UK the the more in-depth pool training BSAC offer is recommended. And, o my god, that van 🙈

We are coming down to Cornwall soon for a couple of weeks. My son and his girlfriend have lived there for around 3 years. We always came every year when the kids were younger and then they decided it was the life for them. He is an engineer / mechanic and she works in hospitality. They managed to secure jobs and just with a lot of luck they managed to get a house a few miles from Helston, it was sourced by his new boss who is now a good friend of his. One thing I appreciate is a lot of locals, young locals seem to be pushed out of the housing and accommodation market in the area, it's very tough for them. Cornwall is a victim of its own success.

Not really, they all seem to have reliability problems due to the "wet belt" design. A real big mistake on the part of Ford to run a rubber cam belt in oil so that all the bits of rubber end up in the oil system messing up the engine. The DPF, EGR and other issues are common to many modern diesels.
