As someone who’s introverted I really loved tennis in middle school. Just you vs another kid or you and a friend vs 2 kids. And if you put any amount of genuine practice into it you’ll just dump all over the other players because they’re usually just there because their parents made them play something lol.

My parents missed two games I ever played in across multiple sports until I entered college football. had my school been a 1 hour drive closer they would definitely been to all the home games. I didn’t hate it, but my parents didn’t care if I played well or not but they would rip me a new one if I wasn’t trying. Effort was all that they cared about.

Catchers also have to be good at what you call “framing pitches”. Basically when a catcher gets a pitch, he has to catch the ball and try to snap it slightly outside the strike zone, while it also being a clean enough movement to trick the ump. Framing pitches is a huge part about being a catcher that is extremely difficult

I played baseball when i was 8-9 years old. One time during practice one of the "coach" dads who's almost never at practice definitely drunk pulls out the tennis ball shooter to shoot us at bat. His son was a Huge pussy and would duck from any ball that came near home plate so he thought shooting us with tennisballs was a good way to make us not afraid of being hit but It ended up making us all kinda gun shy at bat

@@KinoDerTotenTrain lol many times I wished he’d never agreed to coach also that I wish I never begged to play. I begged ALL SUMMER when I was going into 3rd grade. He said “ you don’t want to play soccer to get some running in and condition??” “NOOE I WANT TO PLAY FOOTBALL!!” “If I pay you play. After the season, you don’t want to play anymore, fine.” “ ALRIGHT LETS GO TODAYS LAST DAY OF SIGN UPs! It’s $75!!” “ ok.” Get there sign up everyone’s got pads like a week or 2 earlier. I HAVE NEVER WORN PADS OR A HELMET, I have played PLENTY of back yard football. Get my helmet and shoulder pads and all that good shit just in time for stretches!! Get done stretching and it’s 2 laps around the field, ok. We start running I get ONE half way IF WAY of ONE LAP and I start crying! I can’t breath! It’s hot! I look like a pussy!!🤣get that lap through and I’m at the fence in front of my dad screaming “ I’m done! I’m done! I don’t want to play!” He looked at me straight faces no emotion 😐 “ I payed YOU PLAY BOY.” I played. I played until senior year and I didn’t play that year… I had UofSC, Clemson, Tennessee, Florida, and Citadel ALL SENDING ME LETTERS! Some TWICE IN A WEEK! FOR MONTHS and I was done. I had played my entire life and it took one season of coaching changes (retirements and shit) in high school junior year to realize “nah these coaches don’t understand and they don’t care about any wins.” We wouldn’t win stste but we’d at least get the simi finals or the game before that every other year…. I love my dad but man he’s a strict tough son of a gun man. Been through a lot, no war hero but just poor and white in the ghettos of the south man.
