My parents missed two games I ever played in across multiple sports until I entered college football. had my school been a 1 hour drive closer they would definitely been to all the home games. I didn’t hate it, but my parents didn’t care if I played well or not but they would rip me a new one if I wasn’t trying. Effort was all that they cared about.

Catchers also have to be good at what you call “framing pitches”. Basically when a catcher gets a pitch, he has to catch the ball and try to snap it slightly outside the strike zone, while it also being a clean enough movement to trick the ump. Framing pitches is a huge part about being a catcher that is extremely difficult

I played until senior year and I didn’t play that year… I had UofSC, Clemson, Tennessee, Florida, and Citadel ALL SENDING ME LETTERS! Some TWICE IN A WEEK! FOR MONTHS and I was done. I had played my entire life and it took one season of coaching changes (retirements and shit) in high school junior year to realize “nah these coaches don’t understand and they don’t care about any wins.” We wouldn’t win stste but we’d at least get the simi finals or the game before that every other year….
