Interstate Batteries and Autozone are both made by Johnson Controls. You're basically buying the same battery at either place. Wix/Baldwin/Napa are all the same oil filters. Goodyear Gators are the only belt I use now, there's no comparison.

oil at autozone is expensive. just go to walmart save yourself like 10 bucks on the 5qts
@hedga0017 жыл бұрын
I know! It cost 23.99 at AutoZone for a 5 qt bottle of Mobile 5000 5W-30 and Wal-Mart sells the same oil for 14.99. I tried to buy some from AZ once and they wouldn't price match with WM even after showing them the ad. O'Reilly price matches with Walmart with no problems as long as you show them the price on the Walmart App.
@RockandrollNegro7 жыл бұрын
Autozone will only price match with other auto parts stores, so Wal-Mart is a no-go. But like Harrison stated O Reilly's will price match the hell out of Wal-Mart oil and filters. I bought a gallon jug of Castrol GTX and a Motorcraft filter at O'Reilly's and once they price matched Walmart I saved like 8 bucks.
@chieftp7 жыл бұрын
it's not the same. everything that walmart sells is made specifically for walmart to meet their pricing demands. the result is a lower quality product even if the packaging looks the same.

Love this channel, I've learned SO much about keeping the family wagon going. Two quick questions if I may about my 08 Grand Caravan: 1. The AC system blows cool, but not cold air. I recharged the system with a can of AC Pro, definetely helped. I have done everything mentioned in your AC Maintenance video, cleaning air intakes, washing the bugs of the condenser etc. What might be the next place to look? 2. The van has 210,000 KM on it, and while I know she is getting a bit tired, I need it to last until the winter, then we are selling it and moving overseas. We plan on doing lots of driving this year. I am getting slightly concerned about the transmission. It seems to "hesitate" a bit when driving around town, around 30mph it cant decide if it wants to be in gear or coasting it feels like. I know it is leaking fluid, I had the output seal replaced a few months ago, but that seems to have not fixed it. I watch the fluid levels very closely and top up as needed. Last week I put some Lucas Transmission fix in it to see if that helps. I'm considerting getting a fluid/filter change and if the pan is the leak that would get a new gasket at that point. Do you think this is enough to get her through the rest of this year? Thanks, keep up the great work.

I use the long summer vacation highway drive to help clean my engine. I put a bottle full of engine/injector cleaner into the gas tank, then I fill it with premium gas. That 4 hour drive at highway speeds, along with the cleaner, cleans out all the junk and deposits inside the engine.
@Trapster998 жыл бұрын
Well, actually, I keep my cars an average of 12 years, starting from High School. I'm 45 now. Twice a year, I fill the tank with high test gas and do my 4 hour vacation drive. Cleans the cylinder, injection heads and lubricates the intake valves. And I have never had a problem with the fuel delivery system in my cars and they always get fantastic gas mileage. Do the math.
@frogbear027 жыл бұрын
Sorry to say you are not benefiting at all from premium gas unless your car states you should use it, in fact you might actually be doing bad for your car efficiency wise.
@Trapster997 жыл бұрын
LOL, what are you smoking, Man? It is not doing your brain any good. Factoid: Premium gas, the high octane stuff, contains more energy (BTU's) than the regular stuff. My car always goes farther on a tank of the more expensive stuff. Plus, it helps clean out the carbon build up and other crud in the fuel/ignition pathways.
@wills.57627 жыл бұрын
Frogbear is correct. Octane has nothing to do with energy - It is simply the fuel's resistance to detonation. Premium might only be better because of it's additives and whatnot.
@frogbear027 жыл бұрын
it's as Will states, high octane just means it can compress more before self detonating, which is ideal when used in turbo or super charged cars, as pre ignition can cause severe damage to your engine. Use whatever you like, its not likely to hurt your car if its not made to use premium, but from all the testing I have seen, gas mileage suffers if you use it over regular in cars that are made to take regular, though only slightly.

A feet or two of a high temperature resistant and non flexible string or insulated copper wire in case you need to tie together plastic panels. Had an incident on last road trip where the Wheel-well liner separated from the front bumper and the airflow bend it back behind the tire!! used a piece of thick insulated wire to hold it to the bumper for the remainder of the trip and got it repaired later.

Tires are also a top-must-check. The last thing you want to happen is to blow a tire (been warn out or having cuts) doing 65+ on the highway, or change them if you are going from cold to hot and vise-versa if you are have two sets (winter-summer, unless you have an all season) since winter ones are good from 44F and below on average brand.

Autozones are like any mechanic shop- it's no better or worse than the people that work at the location. My local Zone has one guy, who's like 60 years old and knows what he's doing, and a bunch of teenagers who wouldn't know how to change their own oil if they had a gun to their head. I go there because of that one guy who knows his shit, and if I had to deal with only the dumb teenagers I would just go somewhere else. This is why I used to pay more to shop at NAPA. NAPA seemed to go out of their way to hire older guys that knew what they were doing, and I didn't mind spending the extra couple of bucks for their stuff because they definitely weren't as cheap Autozone or Advance. But I just moved to a new city and the NAPAs here are full of the same dumb kids who don't know anything automotive that doesn't directly correlate to their V-Tec just kicking in, yo.
@cesarghost12037 жыл бұрын
Marvin Harrison Smith II hey, just because there kids doesnt mean they have to know everything about the automotive world. you were a teen once, give them a break, at least there learning while having a job
@TacoBurgalur7 жыл бұрын
Marvin Harrison Smith II As one of those teens working at an Autozone I can see what you mean. However, how else was I gonna learn about what to do and what not to do on a car. Thanks to what I learned there I managed to maintain a 2005 tc and build it up to 250 hp with help from my brother who used to work for advanced and my dad who has got 50 years worth of experience. Not to mention I just got my self a clean 2010 john Cooper works mini. I currently know more than a lot of 30-40 year olds know working at Autozone for a couple of months claiming to know about cars and I'm only 20 going onto 21 in a few months. Not every young guy at Autozone doesn't know anything about cars. Some actually know a thing or two, and I'm more than happy to change a battery in your Chevy Tahoe which takes about 30 minutes at most in Florida heat and those damn brackets GM decided to put in there.

Overlooking the obvious sponsorship.. Disliked for fucking Fix-a-Flat. That shit is the devil.
@scottykilmer8 жыл бұрын
I disagree, it often seals tires so you can quickly go on your way. Yea, it makes the inside of the wheel gooey, but that's better than being stuck on the side of the road. Realize almost all large construction vehicles use a similar form of sealer in their tires permanently
@tgyk15688 жыл бұрын
It also completely ruins the TPS in newer vehicles. It's better, in my opinion, to just carry a plug kit and a full size spare.
@Arieeeee8 жыл бұрын
Scotty, love your videos and a big fan, I but have to disagree with you. Fix-a-flat voids tire warranties at pretty much all the major tire shops and many won't even attempt to fix them once it's put in there. I found out the hard way when I was lazy and decided to use that instead of change the flat. For an absolute emergency if your spare ends up having a flat and you're SOL in the middle of nowhere? Ok, but it shouldn't be advertised as a substitute for airing up a tire or changing the tire with a spare.
@cykablyat14667 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know Fix-a-Flat is a popular choice among a lot of people, but it isn't really that difficult to carry some tire cores and plugs which have always been better in my own experience.

Having one fuse for each amperage is ideal.
