I’m not a mobile welder. In fact I’m nothing more than a DIYer, but debt is a thing I’m really big on avoiding. I think right now would be a horrible time for anyone to get into any kind of truck and that’s why using what you have is a good idea. No plans to be a welder for a living but this was all pretty good advice from a personal finance stand point for whatever it’s worth coming from me. Good to see you again D.Erb.

Bought my first truck for 2,600. F 250 with a v10. Need some Maintance done on it, I’ve put almost 40,000 miles on it now don’t think I have 5,000 into it today. Good maintenance routine will help keep these old trucks on the road

Derb, I have a Ranger that I put a flatbed on over the summer. I have a Miller Roughneck that I am going to mount on the back. I have a small crane to mount on the back along with a drill press and a decent vise. I plan on starting the welding business when the weather gets warmer as I am recovering from getting run over on my Harley. I found a mag drill a few months ago from a business that shut down .You have great advice. It seems crazy that it is snowing down there. I am up in Pa.

Hey Daniel glad to see your doing well. Other then that nice video . My recommendation is this. If you don't have a really reliable rig welding truck then you're probably better off working any unreliable vehicle that you have into the ground by making the most minor roadworthy fixes to it that you can, until you have enough financial gain to purchase a more reliable vehicle for your business. As you well know Derb from your experience you started off small and now you have worked your way up to become a more successful business owner, and your having some mechanical background has helped you out along the way. Learning how to fix the majority of your mechanical issues on you own vehicle even if you need help from your friends who have mechanical knowledge is a way smarter direction to go instead of putting it in the shop everytime, as it could also greatly save you a lot of aggravation in the long run in your quest to purchase something newer to drive .other then that Derb have you not also considered buying yourself a nice stand alone bandsaw to go into your shop for cutting larger and heavier materials after all bandsaws are much more quieter then any circular saw or chopsaw and you don't have to stand there forcing a blade through the materials you want to cut everytime because the gravity of the saw does the cutting for you so you can accomplish other things at the same time just by keeping somewhat of a close eye on the bandsaw. If you ever buy yourself a stand alone bandsaw make sure that you buy one that has a compound miter to it though so you don't have to keep flipping the material over everytime you want to make any second cuts at less than a 90° s. Nice thing about it unike you is that I don't have the space that you do for buying a more expensive bandsaw then the one I have. And possibly you'd enjoy having any saw that helps your productivity out a little bit more if you didn't have to stand over it all the time to make a cut. Just a though for you to possibly consider to help you out in you business ventures. I barely ever take my 14" evolution chopsaw out anymore to make any cut's on bar stock because I just like how much more quieter my bandsaw is then my chopsaw and that I don't have to stand in 1 place all day long cutting up materials on my chopsaw all the time I want to make a cut on metals or any other materials. And this is for anyone else who reads my comment if any of you out there are just starting out in the welding trades and all you have is only have a car add a hitch to it so you can pull a rig trailer behind you like until you can purchase a truck. You have to be completey silly to think your gonna get big welding jobs right off the bat you gotta prove yourself to other's in small ways first and then keep building upon your reputation to get better Jobs especiallyif you need to prove your worth to any bank to get a business loan even if that the way you are leaning towards.

Regarding the F-250 vs F-350 debate, the '80 to '97 4×4 F-350s have a solid front axle compared to the F-250 TTBs. That being said, I really dig that dually!

@basiliohernandez51112 жыл бұрын
@@adamswelding5052 Okay, yeah. The four wheel drive F-350s still had the live axle up front. Some F-Super Duty class 4 or class 5 trucks had a solid front axle on the rear wheel drive trucks though but I am unsure of the GVWR and the specific model years.

I don't know how you get around not having ac power with the 200 but I got my SA on a trailer, and the main rig just has a small generator on it that powers my fronius machines. If I were to put the SA on a dually I would probably also have at least a 4000w generator right next to it. unless I really didn't need it. but doing the stuff I do I seem to be drilling into concrete all the time so having that ac power is pretty nice since corded drills are cheaper than battery powered.

I just got a Miller bluestar 1e from my foreman. I put a new carburetor and battery on, got spark (weak)won't pop or fire up. Might get new points, coil and condenser/capacitor for it. There's a weld repair shop close to me if I can't get it running after that. I don't want to put to much money into it is I have to put money into the generator side because a lot of parts are discontinued. How much money should I dump into it before realizing it's not worth it and just buy a new gas welder so I have warranty?

I found a single cab 8 foot bed 1995 f350 2wd with a 7.5l 460 most people dont want those motors but i only paid 1000 for it has a little over 40k miles on it clear coat is peeling but i sold the bed for 800 so i got 200 in the truck lol and im building a flat bed for it the trucks in great shape sure id like a brand new f450 or 550 service bed but im not spending 150k for a truck when i could literally buy 100 trucks for that same money like mine people get to caught up in how their truck looks rather then if it gets the job done if it works it works

If you already have a truck and it's worth 10k or more ditch it and pick up a cheaper truck. Welding trucks get beat on and covered in grinding/welding sparks ruining the glass and paint which will make it worthless. Guys who buy fancy welding trucks and put fancy wheels on them are idiots.
