this was very helpful, thank you so much! was wondering if you would recommend this board even when there's pretty much no wind. I fear that it might start sinking,despite me being pretty light (I weight around 40 kg), when during training for regattas you need to be still. Is it also possible to raise the sail without water-starting? During winter in my area there are often less than 6 kn so would I be able to use it? Thanks in advance for your time

usually your board should be your weight in kilos+30 litres so with your weight any board should be fine but 6 knots is probably too little for any board

Hey Phil, I am currently using a 144L F2 Hornet with a 7.7 freeride sail(best sail for the lake here). I am at a point where I can almost do a planing jibe and I feel like I always have full control over the gear while planing. However the board is quite big and I feel like it is too static sometimes. I also have a F2 Vento 116L freemove Board. Should I use this board instead, to learn jumping and jibing better?

Hi If you can plane easily on the small board you should try using it. It will require less effort to turn through the water. It will be less forgiving though. You can still use the big board in light winds to help you plane. Pick the right board for the conditions. :)

Hi Phil. I'm just staring my freestyle carrier. Can do 360 is traps, sail switch in straps, 90 deg on a vulcan, rarely 180 ( fall on the back after, as the board catches ). I'm using 99 fanatic skate with 22 cm stock fin. Should i go to 17-18 cm fin now, or it is not so crucial on the current stage?

Hi Thanks for writing. A smaller fin might help you to slide more the 90deg 18cm is usually a good size. Try it firstly on flat water. It is possible to use the stock fin, it is bigger so it will help you to plane early but wont slide as consistently as a smaller fin. How much do you weigh? What conditions do you usually sail in?
