Jamie thank you very much for explaining where 'Baker Street' originated from I did not know. This really is an exciting most excellent way to learn and you are right in 3 mins as I have improved enough(embouchure and tonguing techniques in 2 yrs) to have been able to play most of all it before the video had ended so it was fairly easy & be it as it may, I have achieved just from this video alone. Thank you again for another great lesson! Love ya!

Hi Jamie I am playing sax at my grandsons wedding and Baker Street is one of my choices (I'm even singing the song as well). I never could finish it properly but now thanks to you it's in the bag. Many thanks. PS how many people get married and have their granddad playing sax at their wedding? I'm a bag of nerves but it will hopefully be OK and something he will never forget. Many thanks again top man and please keep up the fantastic work. Much respect

Hey also, could you make a video teaching on how to play altissimo notes, because I just can’t seem to get them out except for the altissimo D
@GetYourSaxTogether5 жыл бұрын
@@magmaquarta6205 - Yeh, it's actually not straight forward getting high notes on sax as a lot of spade work has to go in first to get a great foundation. I'm doing a video soon on an overtones warm up that will help you though, and I'll certainly add that topic to my list! Thanks.

Hey Jamie - How about you do a Top Twenty of famous, iconic pop sax solos by former members of NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra)? After all, having been in existence for more than 50 years, there must be loads of standout performances to choose from?....... and I'm sure that Bill Ashton will supply you with any extra info that you might require? Great channel by the way!! 🙂

@@GetYourSaxTogether - Jamie - congratulations on some really helpful advice on your video posts! Re. NYJO saxophone alumni - I mean big hit records, with sax solos, that the public are familiar with e.g. Baker Street, Careless Whisper, Just The Way You Are, Will You, I Will Always Love You, Saving All My Love For You, Brown Sugar, Lets Stick Together, Pick Up The Pieces, Respect (Aretha Franklin), Jazzman (Carol King), Listen To What The Man Said, Love And Affection and so on?! After 55 years - NYJO sax players must be on loads of hits like these surely? Can you help with a list Jamie? 🙂

Yeh, as far as I know, every PDF I've ever done has got Bb and Eb parts. It was one of my first vids, and tbh, it's pretty hard on tenor cos of the range - loads of top Gs which sound kinda duff anyway. But yeh, get the PDF!

Awesome! But, why not include the backing tracks at the end when you run through all of it? I think by doing this, you're showing the viewers/learners how and where the solo fits in and why the phrasing is so crucial.
@GetYourSaxTogether4 жыл бұрын
Nick Danna - I never really thought about it at the time I suppose. I did that with the Cagney & Lacey video mind you. Too late to redo the video now. I have got the backing track somewhere.
