Love your vids, Gary. Can you do one on the Lagoon 450 bulkhead issue? Does a survey even look at the bulkheads? Are there other makes/models out there that have systemic issues? If that's too hot of a potato to handle, can you give us some general advice on how to spot issues like that?

Hi Ben, yes all accredited marine surveyors evaluate the rigging and look for this issue. You can sometimes spot it yourself if you check the seams where the forward bulkhead meets the ceiling. I believe this issue is overblown because I sold PARLAY to the owner several months before hurricane Irma severely damaged the yacht (now called PARLAY REVIVAL) featured in the video. I was there when we did a rigging inspection. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the rigging or bulkhead. Any rigger will tell you that if a catamaran endures even a Category 1 (75 mph) hurricane the pressures on the tip of the mast WILL damage the rigging. Irma blew 155 mph on PARLAY! Lagoon has received and paid only 40 claims out of over 1100 boats produced. That's less than 5%. No masts have fallen down as a result of this. I've seen Lagoon give away repair kits even to yachts that were hurricane-damaged even though they didn't have to. This issue can affect some other models. Just rely on your accredited surveyor.
