When George said at the end "Jurijs is going to like this" and then proceeded to lift up his sweater, I was thinking "am I still on the right George Farmer channel!?" Haha I really need to visit Horizon Aquatics sometime soon.

I live in the south west. But I will definitely be visiting this store at some point. Its the most well laid out and attractive store I have ever seen. When you mentioned about dyslexia and how doing a visual video or workshop helped you are not wrong. Although I don't have dyslexia I do suffer from a mild form of autism. Watching things being done and explained along the way is so much easier than reading it in a book with pictures. The apriciation is beyond words for what you guys do for people in the hobby. its amazing 👏. Thankyou x

Loving the rambling style of these one take videos. Horizon is a beautiful shop. I’m so fortunate to have it on my doorstep 😃 Two great owners of a great shop filmed by an industry legend all helping grow an increasing aquascaping community 💚

I find the dry goods the most interesting honestly! I think it is cool to see all the innovations and options in the industry and what advancements have propelled this hobby further. Would love a more in-depth tour of their dry goods room and equipment on their tanks. I love how every tank in their shop has a different pipe set on it and would love to hear more info on that.

In Canada, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Material Information System) is how we teach about and manage materials that may pose a hazard. Compressed gas is on that list. Every WHMIS training video I have seen is WAY over the top and truly makes you cautious around certain items. The Co2 cylinders themselves are also labelled heavily with warnings. The idea of having something with explosive potential near a glass box made me hesitant to get into co2. Obviously now that I have used it for a while those fears have subsided. I would be interested however to see an informational video on what to do if something did go wrong with any portion of the co2 setup. I have experienced a leak from a faulty O-ring before, but without any prior preparation those circumstances can be extremely frustrating.

Great tour, George! Question: do you agree with the statement made about plants melting and dying if moved from a tank with co2 injection to a tank with no co2 injection? It looked to me that the majority (if not all) the plants in the holding tank were grown hydroponically at an aquatic plant farm, with access to vastly more co2 than could be easily diffused into an aquarium. If that statement is correct I would think most any plant from a plant farm would melt and die when put into a tank with no co2. Hopefully you have time to weigh in on this. Thank you again for all your hard work over the past many years!

Hi Goerge, I'm planning on having 3 60P tanks next to each other and was wondering if my space is enough. The most left tank has 6 cm clearance from the wall (corner) on it's left side and 13 cm from the middle tank. Same 13 cm space from the middle tank to the right tank. Total is 212 cm of wall for 3 tanks = 6+60+13+60+13+60. Middle tank is the DOOA System Paluda 60. The other two are ADA 60P. What do you think? Is it too close? Should I have only 2 60P on this wall and have the Paluda 60 somewhere else?

Try yeast, water and sugar, and if soft water add bicarbonate of soda, with a cheap in tank plastic reactor on low hour dose 24 hours per day plants grow cleanly and faster and, if combined with deep substrate, makes for lower maintenance.
@rte64rte2 жыл бұрын
The big to do about Co2 is we can accidentally kill the fish. I won't turn it on in my tank unless I am in the house. Wonder place thanks for sharing with us.
@williammcdowell62572 жыл бұрын
Yep, but then I once killed Rummy Noses doing a water change, they swam into an input flow which was just too cold for them and they shocked and sank, lost maybe half a dozen out of shoal of around two dozen.

I don't understand the appeal of Dutch style aquariums. Am I missing something? To me it looks like it's usually a combination of the same 6-8 most common plants, all just jampacked together, and usually trimmed in that same sloped fashion. Maybe if I attempted it, it would click.

millenium wood drops ph to dangerous levels in the beginning, it should NEVER be placed in an aquarium that is running with fish, in new setups, livestock should not be placed in the aquarium until the ph stabilizes. cheers.
