GG Aleste 1cc [with commentary]

Enjoyed the commentary on this one, always glad to see more Compile games. I really hope they eventually port the original Aleste games from the MSX to a modern console. While the GG series is fine, Aleste 1 and especially 2 are some of the best in the series if not Compile's entire library. I completely agree about knocking out easier clears too. Some people feel that the entire purpose of the genre is the challenge, but to me that just isn't the case. Not every moment spent playing these games needs to be a struggle, sometimes i just want to enjoy the music, art, moving and shooting. Even for easier games nothing else quite delivers the game feel that shmups can.

I’d love for switch to have more than just a few Compile games because playing things like Musha, Gun-Nac, Aleste Gaiden, etc., would be awesome! I agree, I thoroughly enjoy being able to jump into much more casual sessi)ns amidst my more serious commitments. I could go for more from the dev that did Graze Counter GM. That one stands out because of how refreshing it felt and how many different clears you could go for with character types, and various challenges. Thanks for watching, Chino!

Really cool commentary Dace, nice to hear your thoughts on clearing easier games - I think having little breaks from the ‘main’ games you are playing is a great fun and a way to enjoy the genre to the max. Thanks for the shout out on my clears of this collection, GG Aleste 3 was a pretty tricky one without the slowdown but I had a ton of fun with them all.

Yeah, man! There’s certainly a place for easier games and it only adds to the overall experience since they serve a different purpose that harder games can’t offer once you’re beyond a specific skill/experience level. Thanks for this!

I haven't played it but it'd be neat to look into it at some point. The only thing is, I'm currently only on Switch and as far as I know, it's not on that platform. Thanks for checking this out.

on that concept of easier clears, that's why everyone should play classic compile style games, and especially the caravan games. 2 minute runs aren't demanding and I honestly see them as great routing practice, as well as getting people who might not be into scoring as much to think about scoring more actively.
