GG Jackson of the Memphis Grizzlies isn't "overrated" - he needs help

Salt Lake City NBA Summer League ended with a bit of a whimper for the Memphis Grizzlies - another hard fought defeat, another game with multiple key players out due to "injury". While GG Jackson silenced the "overrated" chants during the team's loss to the Thunder, he didn't get much of a chance to grow his game in a way that will help Memphis down the road. What stood out most were the defensive lapses-players being left wide open, leading to easy buckets for the opposition. The Grizzlies need to tighten up their DEFENSE schemes. I know it's Summer League, but the team needs to demonstrate they can correct this issue.

How can he be overrated after being selected in the second round of the draft. We will certainly find out how good he can be if given the opportunity to play with the core group.

For the first time ever I'm going to agree with Joe. Summer league is for playing young guys and possible roster breakers and what you want is for them to see minutes. That's the entire point - not playing proves nothing. If the guy is too good for summer league then he shouldn't be tthere. Edey could have been playing for us in the red and white and winninng some games in the tournament.

This is insane...judging the Sumner league is crazy. Everyone playing with youthful energy and just running around.. Judge GG off the Denver game because the Nuggets and the Lakers really needed to win those games. GG hasn't practiced full time with the starters yet so that means he isn't getting the proper training of the full Grizz staff. Wait next season after a full training camp, then judge him because that's when the other players will get him focused and locked in on how to be a pro at this level. For now just enjoy his development and put the whistles down!
