I was known back then in my local arcade for beating the game with one token. How'd I did this? Well the arcade cabinet of our House of the Dead (1 , 2 , and 3) can be wired and those times security cams weren't good to be depended on. Since the thing below the box can be opened (because of it not having a lock) and you can just open the thing and just keep putting the token and take it back by that process. Damn those were times I literally was ripping off the place but they didn't cared about it tho for some reason even if tho I got caught like 5 times. They're still running until now.

I've managed to flawless the Empress in House of the Dead 4. The key is to remember that only the head takes damage so you need to make sure you aren't wasting your ammo with body shots when she is above or on the side of the train. The blue reticle on the monochromatic blue model kinda makes it harder to see where her actual hurtbox is so it's really easy to waste ammo with body shots without even realizing it. She follows the same route and attack pattern each time though so with some memorization you should be able to lead your shots when she goes behind one of the doors which blocks her hitbox and hit her as she becomes vulnerable again instead of wasting ammo and not having enough time to reload.

House Of The Dead 2 & 3 on the Wii was actually my introduction to the series. The difference between these versions, aside from how you aim, is the amount of extra content outside the main game, I think. 2 has two challenge modes. One tests certain aspects of your shooting abilities at three different difficulties each, and the other is a time attack against bosses. On top o' that, there's two ways to play the main game. Arcade is just the main game as is, but Original Mode lets you equip all sorts of different bonuses and extras such as a larger magazine, damages booster, shoot the UFO, and even weapons like a double-barrel shotgun, grenade launcher, and a bass lure launcher. 3 has only two unlockable main game modes, but they make the game way more replayable: Time attack takes you through the whole on a short time limit, but you can increase it by playing skillfully and hunting for bonuses, and Extreme mode locks you in solo, makes enemies tougher, and your shotgun is essentially a rifle now (in other words, AIM CAREFULLY), but it gives you a faster reload, and a melee attack.

If anybody has the chance to play House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn do it, the game is super fun in arcade and it is as violent if not even more than previous games, you are set against bigger hordes compared to previous HOTD, and you have to mow them down with machine guns and rocket launchers. Good times.

15:35 actually if you're doing really well in the game and you haven't taken damage in a while, the Tower will start attacking with 2 heads at a time. The Magician increases in difficulty if you're doing well too, getting faster and faster and once his little after-image movements glow white instead of red then you know he's at max speed and "I want you to put more money in."-mode.

In-depth explanation over the two crucial ports of HOTD2 below. Warning : Too Long; Don't Read. [?] In the PC and the Wii ports of HOTD2, not only do they have HOTD1 level options, but different modes as well, including the Original Mode which I will elaborate on later. There's also the Practice Mode which is self-explanatory, giving you a set of levels to test your skills on each part of the game's action itself, which is just mostly shooting. There's also a Boss Rush mode, with each boss having a 5-set difficulty level which goes up whenever you defeat the boss, but you can set it just at about any rate you want [first rate to fifth rate], so there's that. Arcade mode is well, Arcade, obviously. In the PC and Wii ports, there are many secret items/assets plotted throughout the main levels of the game that you can interact/loot, although I am unsure about the Arcade version since it doesn't have any customizable content [Score/Health Assets are the exception]. Some of the secret items give you a different route through the mission, such as the 'key to the gate' from Level 2 'Muddy'. As for the others, they're either just there for you to get extra points, or some features which give you advantages the next time to pop in Original Mode, such as infinite health, costumes and even an entire arsenal of weapons, including the Machine Gun, Shotgun, Grenade Launcher, Toy Gun and the Air Gun. Hell, there are even DIFFERENT ENDINGS ranging from Normal, Bad and Good determined by the following 4, of which they are : 1. If a solo game was finished as either player 1 or 2 2 .If both players defeated the last boss 3. Number of continues 4. Points earned All endings have their own cutscenes, my favourite being the Bad Ending solely due to how cheesy it is. And here comes the massive arsenal of customization within Original Mode, of which I copied and pasted it here from an old but useful guide [www.neoseeker.com/housedead2/faqs/16804-house-of-the-dead-2-b.html by SloDeth and published/hosted by Neoseeker.] Bullet Powerups: Power Up 1.2 - bullet power multiplied by 1.2(20% stronger) Power Up 1.5 - bullet power multiplied by 1.5(50% stronger) Power Up 2.0 - bullet power multiplied by 2.0(100% stronger) Bullet Blow - all monsters killed in ONE SHOT! Life Up: Life +2 - two more life torches Life +5 - five more torches Credit Up: Credit +2 - two more credits Credit +5 - five more credits Credit +10 - ten more credits Credit +Infinity - infinite credits Chamber Up: Chamber +2 - two more bullets in the chamber Chamber +4 - four more bullets in the chamber Chamber +8 - eight more bullets in the chamber Chamber +Infinity - no more reloading Costumes: Bruno Costume - A costume of Bruno Delinger, a protagonist from Sega's 1998 beat 'em up Dynamite Cop. Civilian Costume - A costume of a civilian. Amy Costume - An Amy Crystal costume. Harry Costume - A Harry Harris costume. Goldman Costume - A Caleb Goldman costume. Unlocked after completing Original Mode. Rogan Costume - A Thomas Rogan costume. G Costume - A G costume. Guns: Machine Gun - six bullets shot at one time, one ammo Shotgun - wider shot, two ammo Grenade Launcher - disappointing, three ammo Custom Air Gun - ping pong balls for ammo, twelve ammo Toy Gun - zapping sound, six ammo Other: Double Score - doubles your score Life 1/4 - monsters have 25% their life(not as good as Bullet Blow) First Aid Kit - Life Up in each barrel Primitive Meat - civilians have large hands and heads Rotten Meat - monsters have huge heads , excluding bosses Bass Lure - lure shot out by gun UFO?? - UFO appears in the sky occasionally, which you can shoot out for points And finally, for the red blood toggling, you have to finish the game first and then go the options, and you're good. For the rest of the game honestly, I'm just going to hook-up some sources. I used to spend half my days there playing that game and was quickly able to beat it with one coin only. I became so well known for that that there was an audience of 9-12 kids and teens around me watching how I played and finished the game with that one coin. Oh the good times and epic game :D

Also the second game, in stage 2 and 3, has different boss arenas depending on your actions. Also a cool fact about stage 3. Depending on what arena you fight in stage 2 you actually go backwards in stage 3 from that arena. For example; You fight stage 2 boss on the actual bridge (A path) you end up by the wooden bridge and fight the stage 3 boss. If you fight on the wooden bridge (B path) you will end up near Sunset bridge for the boss fight for stage 3. Stage 4 has 2 different starting areas as well depending on the path you take in stage 3.
