It's really interesting how they managed to make the slower paced movement work. The FPS trend lately has been high speed acrobatics but it makes way more sense for RoboCop to move a bit slowly and deliberately. I'm usually a big fan of complex movement but this still looks pretty fun.

I played the demo, and what impressed me was how much these devs did with so little budget. Because it shows that game is low budget, but you can feel every dollar was carefully considered. They nailed gameplay, AND they nailed the atmosphere. When you are in it, it feels like a sidestory to the 1987 movie. Havent played the full game yet but i can tell you this game deserves all the praise. I cant even imagine what this studio can do with full AAA budget. Probably cause robocop to make a full return in popularity.

@@SENATORPAIN1 I don't agree. They are average if you look at their respective budget but that's about it! These last 2 games they've made are full of passion and love, Terminator Resistance was so much fun I played that game non stop for weeks when I first discovered it. If a game is fun, then that's all that matters. I'm almost happy that these games don't have big triple As budgets because it feels more retro, it has a certain ''stifness'' to it, like it's not as smooth as most modern games. And for me it's kind of the reason why Terminator and Robocop feel the way they feel. It's like a perfect mix of retro and modern design, lovely.

@@SENATORPAIN1 Average in terms of mechanics, perhaps. They are absolute love letters to fans of the franchises, and manage to be GOOD games in the way that they provide fun and entertainment. Also I really liked how the attention to detail in this game was nailed on the head, as every time Robocop gets out his car, you see his foot, then only the top half of his body, a nice Easter egg as when they filmed the films, Peter Weller had to film those scenes in his car and getting out of his car wearing only the top half of the Robocop costume, while just being in his pants below, because he couldn’t fit in the car fully suited up. So a bit of cinema magic, they would show his foot touch the floor below the car door, then a top shot when he would get out the car not revealing his lower half, and I love how the game replicates that.

One example of the care given to the source material that I don't see many people talking about. Not only do they recreate some shots, they recreate the stop-motion animation look some of the robots have during cut scenes. The first few times it was subtle so I didn't quite put two and two together, but as more robots start showing up it finally dawned on my what they were going for. Someone had to have busted their butt lowering the frame rate to the right amount while painstakingly doing the animation work in those frames so it has the alien quality the animation in the movie had.

The game had problems with AI enemies being really dumb at first, but they've corrected it later with patches (though they're still not super-smart). The game has also different outcomes, depending on your actions, so that's something to remember, while playing😉 Without spoiling, there are some parts, where you can't fight Terminators, because you don't have a suitable weapons, so you have to avoid them, but these parts have epic atmosphere - and that comes from a guy, who normally hates sneaking...

Wow I can't believe it actually is Peter Weller doing the voice! I have not followed the game super close and listening to it here, I just assumed it was someone doing a DAMN good Weller impression/some sort of modulation. I wasn't expecting the legend himself to come back but boy am I excited he did.

I stopped playing FPS' a while ago due to difficulty (I'm old af now lol) but I think I'm gonna give this a shot. I miss the more back to basic shooters where you just run around and blow shit up. And seeing how they nailed the feel of the movie... Holy shit this looks cool

Pro Tip: When you start running into enemies with body armor and helmets, aim for the nuts. It drops them with one shot in most cases. Even the heavies can be brought down that way. Once I figured this out, most of the second half of the game became a reenactment of Scene 27.

Words can't describe how amazing was Terminator Resistance for me. And looks like Teyon did it again - despite their technological shortcomings, they can create a magical atmosphere that makes you forget any minor (or even major) flaws. Call me a boomer or whatnot, but I miss these old movies. This review proved it once again that those guys deserve every single penny.

For the company that went from producing one of the worst shooters ever made, to making arguably one of 2023's best shooters? Bravo, Teyon. You've got more to give, and I know for a FACT I'm gonna be excited to see what else you have in store. By the way... ...it's been a while since we had a good Dredd game. Nudge-nudge.

This is one of those games I always wanted, but never thought I'd actually get. The game is far from perfect, but it nails every single thing that makes Robocop the enduring classic that it is. If you're a fan of Robocop, this is an absolute must-play and is another feather in the cap of the stellar year for releases that 2023 has been.

there's one thing i think they didn't nail. I don't have the game yet but by the info i've gathered, the music from the original score is underfeatured? I would have appreciated more epic cinematic music from the OST and/or similar stuff

@@WadaMalone the theme is very much present but is used sparingly. Different renditions of it are used throughout, like one for detective sequences, one for sombre story sequences, one in the menus, one for side quest related content. The original theme is used very rarely though, like at the very start of the game when you first take control of Robocop and a few times after that.

This review and this whole game is a direct hit on my childhood. I remember watching this in the theaters when I was 7 years old with my dad. We went and saw part 2 also. The rest were kinda corny. I'll probably buy this to show it to the old man and watch him light up.

This Dev Studio, despite somehow getting licenses to the best franchises, and everybody loving their games, saying "I actually feel like in the Terminator / Robocop universes" - But, this studio to me feels like a 1 1/2 A Studio. Despite using the Unreal Engine, their textures for Terminator & RoboCop are INCREDIBLY LOW RES - Like, 2004 Half-Life 2 Low Res... Everything is scripts and the AI on its own is just junk AI.. Barely able to have proper behavior and reactions as you would expect from a Modern Game. I truly think people love these games because of their Nostalgia Factor, and while there are a lot of gamers that prefer gameplay over graphics, I still find it repugnant that amount of polish felt to this game is on par with Bethesda's Fallout 3 (2008) for me personally Though thankfully with the lighting additions in RoboCop, and an added cinematic style touch, the game does look much better than Terminator, and let's many not notice to the low res textures of random assets
