I remember when I was a kid, I spent $20 in a single day at this tiny arcade at a water park playing Time Crisis with some kid I had never met before. Had a great time. Time Crisis seems to become dormant series, for consoles at least. Time Crisis 5 seems to be the only game that has not been ported for any consoles at all, which is a shame, I want to try that game out but not a single arcade place in my area holds a cabinet to play. But like you, I want that series to continue, even though coming up with new features can become tough as it's become a staple with the new entry that there is a new function for the game. TC2 - Co-op Gameplay and using enemy machine guns, TC3 - Multi-weapon system, TC4 - In-game dialog and multi-screen battles(first seen in TC: Project Titan), and TC5 - Multi-pedal cover system. If you're at all handy there's a diy project called Gun4Ir which has much better accuracy then the Sinden. It basically repurposes a wiimote sensor with 4 tracking points instead of the Wii sensor bar which fixes all of the Wii's tracking issues and doesn't require an overlay like the Sinden. I actually liked Time Crisis 3 the best of the series. It felt the most polished to me, especially when the arcade cabinets were well maintained enough to have calibrated light guns AND working recoil on the light guns. The fact that enemies had 3 hits' worth of "tangibility" (you could shoot them 3 times before they disappeared) but only 1 shot was necessary to kill the basic guys also gave you a good way to chain combos and get a lot of points. I think that feature was in earlier games, but it felt really well implemented here and the animations on the enemies when they were shot felt helpful for telling how many times they'd been hit. I do agree that it was pretty hard - that final area always ran me through a couple quarters. But after many times playing through Time Crisis 3, I got to the point where I had memorized enemy appearance patterns and only the bosses ever really hit me. It was a lot of fun.

@@TheZackofSpades A thing with translation and localisation is that you not only have to translate the meaning of the original dialogue but you also have to reasonably stick to the original length as well, so while the original Japanese may have been something along the lines of "Don't come any closer" (which makes sense because it's warning the player of a trap) that would have likely made the sentence too long and so would have to be squashed down to the unfortunately double meaning laden "Don't come" (not to mention that a non native speaker may not necessarily pick up on puns and double meanings like that). Of course, the same length and meaning could have been achieved with the phrase "Stay back" but that is the difference between a very comprehensive translation and one that may have been done in a bit of a hurry (which is likely the case).

I can't believe you didn't mention the extra modes in Time Crisis 4: First off there was the 'Complete Mission' which included extra levels where you played as Captain Rush, with standard FPS controls (the reason why the GunCon 3 has that awkward controller sticking out of it) though you still needed to aim and fire at enemies manually. These levels included a boss fight with Wild Fang, who had a robotic leg and some sort of wolf-based, magic powers. Then there was the 'Crisis Missions' where you played as a rookie VSSE agent going through various trials. This culminates in a boss fight with the main characters, Giorgio and Evan (as part of the training) followed immediately by a boss fight with Wild Dog... who turns out to be Richard Miller from the first game in disguise, who wanted to observe and test the new recruits himself. Also I still own my GunCon 3, including the sensors and a copy of the game (I'm from the UK but I have a US copy, so I couldn't trade it in). But after watching this video I might stick it on eBay, though it's definitely not in pristine condition lol

@@zacheryeckard3051 Check out Gun4IR and Sinden. Gun4IR, in my opinion, seems like the better buy as there is no software you need to run on your PC to use it, whereas the Sinden needs software running for EACH light gun. Gun4IR also can be modded into just about any light gun if you are willing to do it yourself or hire Raymond from RPEG Electronics to do it for you. For example, he modded an old Super Jolt + foot pedal to work flawlessly for light gun game emulation, it is pretty sweet. You should check out his channel for more footage. So, if you hook up two Sindens to your PC to play together with a friend, you will have to open two instances of the Sinden software, which opens a Camera app that uses the camera on the Sinden for aiming. Sinden is also heavily dependent on lighting, and it requires a white border to be added via the software on your screen, which can conflict with any borders a game may already have in place.

My brother bought me the home version of Time Crisis for PS1 for Christmas 1998 and it is by far one of the best gifts I ever received. I had already sunk tons of money into the arcade version (and finally beaten it at one point), so this was a welcome relief to my budget! My cousin and I played it frequently and always got a laugh whenever Richard punched the first boss in the face after beating him, and adding our own commentary by saying, "Quiet You!" whenever he did so! Great times. I still maintain my old PS1 and a CRT television purely for the ability to play this game, but I would love a remastered version that allowed my to stop doing so, because lugging this HUGE television around whenever I move to a new home is getting to be downright painful. Thanks for the great video and stay safe out there!

Awww man, the memories! When I was a young guy, my mom would take me with her when she went to her bowling league (casual thing for fun) and I remember begging her and all her friends for change so I could play Time crisis in the arcade inside the place. It got to the point that if there were other kids around, we would form into roving gangs looking for change. Whenever we got enough for a few more games, we would yell to each other "ACTION!", across the bowling alley. I wish there was a way to tell you were in the good old days, before you've left them.

You might've missed this detail in Time Crisis 1. In the First Boss which is the Gold Ninja. Depending on where you land the 3rd hit against him will affect the defeat scene. If the final shot hits while he's jumping from column to column. The death scene will show him falling down from mid-air. If he is on the floor. He just dramatically drops on his back. Cool detail from an Arcade Game.😊

In the PS1 Special mode, it wasn't just the time you had to deal with, there were certain other conditions. For example in one stage you have to kill all fleeing orange soldiers to access the top final stage, in another you had to blow up a crane control room or not, failing to do so sending you straight to the final stage (yep, skipping to the lowest final stage for screwing up). The final stages all had good and bad endings, The top and bottom final stages were based on your ability to unload bullets into a fleeing transport and you had to do a certain ammount in a short space of time (3 clips if you are on the top and it is VERY tight in timing), the middle final stage was purely based on how long you took to clear the boss.

I remember going to an arcade and seeing Time Crisis 4 but way in the distance, I see another gun game Police 911 2 (The first game, I have only seen one machine of it. The 2nd game seems to be more common) Like Time Crisis, you can take cover and peek out. But instead of a pedal, YOU, the player would have to lean left right and move your body up and down to avoid getting hit. This game also had a time limit but felt slower paced in a way. The enemy bullets weren't that fast. There was a promotion system if you didn't get hit and didn't run out of time. Awarded with more time, lives (The highest level in that system gave you 100 lives) Only problem would be if someone not playing were to stand where the game would track the player's motions, things could get messy and could cost you a life and you'd get demoted all the way back down the bottom of that promotion list
