This album changed the music industry. I was a junior in high school, waking up realizing that Twitter was in a frenzy because Beyoncé dropped a surprise album. 😂 Albums used to drop on Tuesday, if I remember correctly. Self titled dropped on a Friday and it’s been that way since. 💁🏾♀️
@ImaanWheeler2 жыл бұрын
That’s true! And ever since then, everyone dropped their music on Friday and get that weekend play for streams/ people to get hooked onto it. She was gonna drop her new album, Renaissance on a Tuesday this time and that would’ve changed the industry AGAIN, but she dropped it on a Friday. (Even though some stores overseas sold her CD’s and some people leaked it online.)

It feels so CRAZY "BEYONCÉ" was realesed in 2013, I mean... It feels like yesterday (and it was THE moment, the WWW stopped!!). And her 2014 VMA performance is AMAZING... She sang all the songs from "BEYONCÉ" and KILLED, one of the best award tv show performances!!
@kittyjohnston7857 Жыл бұрын
The difference between Blow and Rocket is that Blow was fun and teasing but Rocket is extremely intimate. It's slower and the bass is deeper and her voice is not in her high range. The melody is smooth and her falsetto breaths make you breath with her. The tremble in her runs remind you of approaching a special peak(-_^) wink wink

This brings back so many memories. Wow almost 10 years ago. This dropped as a surprise in 2013 during first year finals back in med school. I love this album so much. In the black community we have a wording for what you do in the video. It's called "stank face." It's when the sound of a song and/or the artist singing can belt out a sound that reaches into your soul and sounds so funky or have singing acrobats to it, that your face has no choice but to make that face of something that shows what you are hearing is too good. You, sir, have a "Don't make that face or it'll freeze that way" type of Stank face. lmao🤣 Beyonce can do that to people, though. I don't much blame you. It's deserved. Glad you invest in your music and really feel it. As always, I like your insight and enthusiasm reactions. Thanks.😂 btw....Pretty Hurts is one of my favorites on this album. Can't help but cry whenever she gets to her last verse about being alone and the truth hits you, and are you happy with yourself. My voice cracks whenever I get to that part...it resonates subject matters for me. Beautiful album and visuals. I can't wait for you to watch them all. This was Beyonce's "mothers can still be sensual and sexual just because they had kids" album. This was released after her daughter, Blue Ivy was born. People got absolutely offended about Partition. And I'm like...she's not talking about meeting some stranger in the club and going home with them, like millions of songs other people do. She's singing about keeping the fires burning with her husband. There are insecurities involved in between the telling of the story of this song. Basically the many emotions a new mother and wife would feel in yet another title put on her of "mother". She still worries about being attractive to her man and not being enough to keep him interested.

The sexual theme on this album is actually an advocate for feminist women that you can remain a wife in the kitchen with children with a demanding career and still be the sex goddess in the bedroom. You don't have to lose the spark, you can have it in public (drunk in love video), in the car (partition), in the kitchen, anywhere.
@flopmura26152 жыл бұрын
YEA! Also, she said in an interview that after giving birth, the sexual aspect of her life was very much on the sidelines and she wanted to bring that back. So I think the way the album starts with pretty hurts is really smart, because I believe that, after you give birth, your body changes completely and, for someone who is well known for the image, she must feel very charged for that physical perfection. The album itself seeks to bring beyonce working with the acceptance of her body and how this permeates the way she feels safe to engage sexually with someone, to the point of creating a persona / alter ego, capable of overcoming mental obstacles and make her potentially sexual again - in my opinion

You've never asked for all the Beyoncé lore you get on these videos from the Hive, but here's some (very basic) from me: In Jealous she sings "if you're keeping your promise, I'm keeping mine", and in Sandcastles she sings "every promise don't work out that way". Which made me bawl my eyes out the first time I heard it. Second-hand heartbreak right there. In Jealous it sounded like a warning and a pledge, and in Sandcastles it sounds like acceptance and healing.
@PrinceLeigh2 жыл бұрын
This album is sexual and for more mature listeners, and it also came right after she gave birth to her first child 💙🌿*BLUE IVY*. I think she even explains this in a 4 part interview giving details on a few of the songs. And from what I can remember she stated that she wanted to show her body and more mature sexual side to herself because she basically has that right, and because being pregnant for 9mths most women who are don't necessarily feel sexy. So she got back in shape and to did this album as a result from that. Plus, she was also finding out at this time that Jay was lying to her and possibly cheating etc etc. from which led to the elevator incident and then Lemonade.
@kittyjohnston7857 Жыл бұрын
So, the lyric about eating the cake is a play on dominant and submissive roleplay. Yes, the original context of the line is about domestic abuse however Jay Z is a Master at wordplay and dynamic. It reaches back to the lyric Bey said in Haunted. "I walk down the hallway. You like it. I'm pinned to the doorway. Slap me. Kiss, Bite." As Bey has grown musically and has become so much more settled into herself, her sexuality, and femininity she has really started to indulge in her more sexually empowering and liberating fantasies. The BDSM community is an interesting place where dynamics are constantly examined and tested. When most people think of strong women they think of Alpha women. However, Bey is finding strength and power in the act of submitting. And if you have ever submitted to another person, emotion, or energy you will know how otherworldly it feels to do so. I also want to add that Beyonce and Tina Turner are actually really close. Tina is Beyonce #1 inspiration. She has honored Tina Turner on more than 1 occasion and they have performed together. So know and understand in your very being that Beyonce would not allow any Tina disrespect especially on her own song and album. I hope this helped in understanding the dynamic of that lyric and the fact that it is Jay Z, Beyonce's husband, saying it.

In Mine when she’s talking about getting married I think she might me mean getting re-married. If you listen to their joint album that they did she talks about him “fucking up the first stone” and then having to get remarried. Jay also talks about them breaking up and getting back together. Late to the party, didnt read all the comments so idk if anyone's cleared the "eat the cake Anna Mae" reference.. that phrase is used by alot of artists in their songs, metaphorically; some guys compare a female's (big)butt as "cake" and Drunk in Love is a sexual song soo yea lol No disrespect to Ms.Tina Turner, as Beyonce idolizes her til this day!
@Mx.RumpusParable Жыл бұрын
This is long back but I found it by searching Dorian Electra reactions and then jumping around your videos.... I had to check when it came up if anyone in the comments explained the "eat the cake" reference's use inside the song and I didn't see it when I searched, so just in case even after this long no one did it: The scene from the movie is of Ike shoving cake down Anna May's mouth. The song is about having sex and Jay-Z's section is the more explicit and aggressive portion. Put together a guy shoving something down their partner's throat during sex....

“Eat the cake, Anna Mae” is a pop culture reference (what’s love got to do with it was biopic about Tina Turner and Ike turner‘s life which day. The line is less about that and more so that’s a double meaning of the word cake. Cake equals so he’s telling Us Bey eats his booty but in a way that is not instantly understood.

Let me tell you an interesting fact. Have you heard of K-pop? K-pop, which means Korean popular music, is gaining popularity all over the world, mainly among young people. It is characterized by strong and impressive sound, addictive lyrics, colorful stages and costumes, amazing stage effects and transitions, and attractive choreography. It is trendy and intense, so you can choose according to your taste. If you search for the group name on KZbin, you can easily listen to their music as they are a famous group all over the world. However, we recommend a few groups for beginners. BTS - The best male group. As an all-around group capable of dancing, writing lyrics, composing, rapping, and singing, they are performing solo performances at stadiums in the US, UK, and Europe, and their performances are famous for being sold out within a day of ticket opening. (Representative songs - Butter, Dynamite, Dope, etc.) BLACKPINK - The best female group. Their beauty, dance, singing, rap, and fashion sense are admirable. He is also active as a global ambassador for Celine and Chanel. She has collaborated with famous artists such as Selena Gomez and Nicki Minaj. (Representative songs - DDU-DU DDU-DU, KILL THIS LOVE, Ice Cream) There are also many other groups and soloists. Sohyang, Forestella, IU, etc. These days, Cookie, Attention, Hurt, and Hypeboy sung by a group called New jean's are trending.
