Timbaland produced only 3 songs on this album (We Need A Resolution, More Than A Woman, I Care 4 U) and Missy writted only I Care 4 U. The majority of the songs are written by Static Major and he had the artistic direction of the album. You can also hear the voice of static on a lot of songs like Never No More, Extra Smooth, More Than a Woman, Read Between The Lines on the harmonies.. etc

She was apart of the Holy trinity Brandy, Monica, and Aaliyah. This Album had to contend with Brandy's Full moon the album when she got the title Vocal Bible and Monica 's All Eyes on me. I am a Brandy fan but if Aaliyah would have lived. This album would have out done both of them.

Fun fact : “I Care For You” was actually 5 years old from when she did her final project! It was originally suppose to be on “One & Million” but that project was already mastered and done..so she kept it & waited to put it on the self-titled album. She was only 16-17 when she recorded that song, which made it even more amazing knowing she was so young and singing like that and capturing that emotion 😮‍💨💕 Baby girl was special 🙌🏾🫶🏾🕊️

Appreciate the reaction to one of the best albums ever! One thing though, Aaliyah, Missy and Timbaland were not speaking around the time this album was made. It had to do with the making of this album and her really getting into her film career, having recorded the bulk of the album in Australia. The only record Missy is on is I Care 4 U which was initially supposed to be on OIAM but it didn't make the album and Aaliyah rerecorded the record for this album. Timbaland produced only three records, Resolution, MTAW and IC4U. Despite them not speaking, her uncle choose Resolution as the first single because of the familiarity of Timbaland and Aaliyah to the masses.

this is one of my top five favorite albums of all time. the blueprint for every record that i make. aaliyah was and still is ahead of her time. like no artist has matched her energy and unique “street but sweet” sound. she’s 1 of 1. loved this reaction. to me, there’s no skips. “what if” is a grower for some. she was really interested in the uk garage scene when she made this song and i believe she was in talks to work with trent reznor from nine inch nails. i firmly believe aaliyah’s next project would have blended so many genres. she was truly a gift.

The guy singing with her on most of the songs is static major, he wrote a lot of the songs. he’s mostly known for his song with Lil Wayne lollipop.. a lot ppl don’t know but Aaliyah put Timberland, missy and static on the map! Aaliyah was so ahead of her time! Who would’ve known the writers, & producers she was the first to work with, would go on to produce and write most of the hits of 2000s and it’s thanks to her they’re even there. I know there are some people who think Aaliyah is beloved because she pass away before her time but it’s honestly because of the music. The sounds on her albums were ahead of the time. When she put a album out you just knew it was gonna last 3-4 years. If you think about the progression of her first album to her last and imagine if she was still making music today.

The prominent producer of this album was actually Static Major (RIP) she wanted to go for a different and mature sound at the time; Timbaland did a few song as well. After it came out on streaming, listening to it makes me sad and happy; because she made such a timeless album and she passed away before she could fully soldify herself as an artist!

Timberland didn't produce that much on that album he just produce 3 songs Missy just wrote on one song. While she was working on her final album Tim and Missy had to much going on also Aaliyah was not that much in contact with them because Aaliyahs uncle had business issues with Tim and Missy. She was working with Tank,Static and many other new producers for this Album.

The rockesque songs always make me sad - shortly before her passing, she expressed wanting to work with Trent Reznor, known for his industrial rock style production from Nine Inch Nails. That would have been very interesting to hear a 2000s R&B/rock hybrid

Aaliyah had ‘I care for you’ recorded for her second album ‘one in a million’ but it didn’t make the cut for the final track list. So Aaliyah personally held onto to the song because she loved it so much and wanted it on her next album.
