Timbaland produced only 3 songs on this album (We Need A Resolution, More Than A Woman, I Care 4 U) and Missy writted only I Care 4 U. The majority of the songs are written by Static Major and he had the artistic direction of the album. You can also hear the voice of static on a lot of songs like Never No More, Extra Smooth, More Than a Woman, Read Between The Lines on the harmonies.. etc

It was originally suppose to be on “One & Million” but that project was already mastered and done..so she kept it & waited to put it on the self-titled album. Appreciate the reaction to one of the best albums ever! One thing though, Aaliyah, Missy and Timbaland were not speaking around the time this album was made. It had to do with the making of this album and her really getting into her film career, having recorded the bulk of the album in Australia. The only record Missy is on is I Care 4 U which was initially supposed to be on OIAM but it didn't make the album and Aaliyah rerecorded the record for this album. Timbaland produced only three records, Resolution, MTAW and IC4U. Despite them not speaking, her uncle choose Resolution as the first single because of the familiarity of Timbaland and Aaliyah to the masses.

this is one of my top five favorite albums of all time. the blueprint for every record that i make. aaliyah was and still is ahead of her time. like no artist has matched her energy and unique “street but sweet” sound. she’s 1 of 1. loved this reaction. to me, there’s no skips. “what if” is a grower for some. she was really interested in the uk garage scene when she made this song and i believe she was in talks to work with trent reznor from nine inch nails. i firmly believe aaliyah’s next project would have blended so many genres. she was truly a gift.
