GHAIYYATH wins the 2020 Coral-Eclipse with Enable only second! - Racing TV

Ghaiyyath wrested away Enable's Coral-Eclipse crown with a relentless front-running victory at Sandown.
Charlie Appleby's remorseless galloper led after the first furlong and was never headed as he added his second successive Group One following last month's success in the Coronation Cup at Newmarket.
Enable, having her first run of the campaign and absent since finishing a gallant second in last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, was held up off the pace by Frankie Dettori and could never get to the winner - eventually finishing a two-and-a-quarter-length runner-up.
Just like at Newmarket, Ghaiyyath and William Buick refused to yield and won at 9-4 from John Gosden's even-money favourite.
Buick said: "He's got a huge cruising speed and he knows how to use it. He had won over a mile and a quarter, at Group Two level, but it was his first go over a mile and a quarter in a Group One and he was in a nice rhythm the whole way."

Where does this 80% fit crap come from. On Saturday Weaver said he saw her pulling trees up in her Newmarket workout. Just excuses at the ready. Truth it Ghaiyaath burned the finish out of them then kept on to the line where inferior animals would've folded. Stradivarius, Van Dyk ,Enable and Japan all put in their place over last few weeks. Give this beast the credit he deserves.

It comes from understanding the race her owner and breeder wants, on her CV, that third Arc.. Consider the month and date. It's a while off. You do not prepare for an Arc by stoking the fire too soon. Japan's new owner also wants the Arc... Look at how is is being eased in. Very similar. It was VERY obvious she was carrying weight. Just search her condition next start, I guarantee a significant appearance improvement and performance. 3rd up she will appear rock hard fit. Japan also.. He will come into his own 4/5 up. Gosden is looking after his 6 year old mare. This is the way to do it for an Arc

So John gosden said before the race that enable would need the run but Jason weaver knows more? I know who I'd believe, win or lose enable has one big target, the arc, gosden would not bottom her out on the first run of the season

The proximity of horses she's comfortably beaten in the past, Japan and Magic Wand, shows us that this wasn't Enable at her peak. Perhaps she hasn't come back as good this year as she was in the past but her best of the past three years is much better than this.

Perfect ride of William Buick. Ghaiyyath destroyed Stradivarius (three gold cup) and Anthony van Dyck (winner of investec derby 2019) in the Coronation Cup on june. Great work Appleby and the Godolphin team for having prepared him so well in July.

Enable should've been retired after loosing to Waldgeist she's 6 and has won 2 Arc's why do they need to tarnish her reputation. She's seems past her peak and I think she deserves the retirement.

Rubbish. When does protecting a reputation become more important than good horses racing on the track. Why would you want her to retire when we could see her racing, even if she does run a few seconds and thirds. Why is it these days if a horse wins a few races in a row do people want to protect it rather than test it. Weird attitude.

@@elgransenor1472 Enable was 1st up, racing over shorter than her best, ran 2nd to the form 10 Furlonhg horse in the entire woirld. The horse loves running and racing and is treated better than most people, as a person that has owned and worked with horses (no good ones) they have to be interested to be competitive in races. Should I "retire" taking my dog to the dog park to chase a ball and run around because he is not as fast anymore. The only reason to quit racing her would be to breed her, she shows disinterest, or if she has injuries.

No shame in defeat for Enable here; Gosden pointed out she was carrying more weight than she would typically - thanks to her age, where prepping her will take a little more time. She will come on for the run and I think she will be the horse to beat back over 1m4f for the King George. If it should be evident that Enable is well and truly past her best, I can see her being retired and Logician aimed at the Arc by Gosden for Juddmonte instead. Well done to Ghaiyyath, he is going to be very competitive this season.

Race time 2m 4.48s (fast by 1.02s), a good win by a good horse in a true run race, not like others we've seen this weekend. Was this training in public like when Stradivarius ran in the Coronation Cup before his Gold Cup win, for Enable? Strange things happening in this strange year.

Night Owl they wanted her to win three Arcs on the spin - aside from getting turned over by Waldgeist in that race she still had a very good season win the Eclipse and the King George in the same season. I just think it seems to be playing on some sentiment to keep her in training just to win one race for the sake of history IMHO

El Gran Senor never said that; it was obviously a great run first time out - but then again, she did the same last season and won. No disrespect to Gayyarth, who obviously ran very well to win - Enable looked very one pace in the last furlong and nearly lost second to Japan. She might do better over further but like I said, I feel her best seasons are behind her IMHO

Whatever else turns up in the Arc she’s going to find it hard against Love getting the allowances. I really want her to go out in style winning her third Arc but at 6 it’s a big ask for her now. King George on Good ground next hopefully.

Ghaiyyath reminds me alot of his Grandfather the legendary beast Dubai Millenium. I don't think he can defeat Enable and Love in the Arc but he's a lock for the Juddmonte International in my opinion. Awesome horse!

People also forget that Enable first race last season was also the Eclipse, where she won beating Magical and Regal Reality. This year she lost to Ghaiyyath who is a much better horse than Magical and Regal Reality.

Anable in my modest observation is running with her tail unusually hight ; so she could be in Heath or sore , a tale sign when something is not quite right , I hope I'm wrong , never the less she run a very good race ; will see what Mr.Gosden find out with this race from her CHAMPION RACE MARE !

Amazing, when Frankel beat Cirrus des Aigles by 2 lengths they said it was easy.....no such praise for Ghaiyyath going away by 2 lengths.....Enable was only 80% fit, that's what it was.
