My father passed away 17 years ago on this day. Qawwali was his favorite music so I decided to listen to some of his favorites and stumbled upon this video. I was in tears by the end of the video. I know he would have loved this. I felt him here with me, heard his laugh, saw his smile. Every time I thought the song peaked, it elevated again. The video was pure beauty. I am an American and have been with people from India now for 12 years and when we chant or do satsangs I do not know the translations and my Guru says I do not need them. After so many years I found out that what happens is the vibrations and love of the music lifts you up to higher dimensions in this Universe where in vibration we are all one. THIS IS TRULY THE PROBLEM WITH PREACHING DIFFERENT RELIGIONS AND ALL THEIR DISAGREEMENTS IN CONTEXT. When you continually focus or even bow down in prayer to words alone, you are never lifted higher than those words.

I don't know your background or what country you grew up in, but if you're referring to contemporary western music when you say white supremacist narrative, a lot of the genres in existence today owe most of their traits and structure to early 20th century blues and jazz. They were a fusion of the African diaspora's culture and other immigrants' cultures, such as Chinese, not white culture. I am so glad Orchestral Qawwali are mixing both east and west in the music to create something unique and beautiful.
