@@SuperLlama88888 That is what I would always build back in the day! Noticed it broke at 1.21. So, I experimented with alternative ways to build it or improve the rates, but there's really not much else you could do to abuse the mechanics "/ Even tried a cage type thing to max out the spawning platforms, buuut then the ghasts float around rather than immediately tp into the kill chamber.. So! Made the fixes, threw in my 2 cents & tried to make it as concise as I could :D

Good updated tutorial, well spoken and to the point, one thing i'd recommend. I recently built a modified version of Whispers ghast farm as well. The exp will stack up leading too tps slowing down, which can lead to pending ticks in the area even on mid tier devices/realms. This can be solved with shulk catalyst placed 1 block up and 5 out from the trapdoor. These are just preference for the farm from here, but there's a very weird mechanic with brewing stands and ice which can be used as a cheap alternative to the final hopper collection line. Archthunder762's fortress farm has a good breakdown of the mechanic. For sim 4 i'd use a pressure plate to activate the farm to help prevent accidentally walking away and breaking the tk's. You can alternatively put grindstones under the trapdoors to make it relog proof, if you do play with less tech savvy people I find iron trapdoors on the tk's help them alot.

I was wondering if the xp would build up to laggy levels, but noticed that it usually jusy falls of the platform, or despawns before stacking up since the spawn rates are basically 2 at a time. Catalysts are a fantastic idea though! I always always forget they exist & can remove unwanted xp >.< What can cause the pending ticks??? I'm def intrigued by that!! Is it like the xp moving outside of sim distance? Or lag causing ticks to skip from the comp clock? I can only think of like clocks outside of sim, or portal ticking. Would love to learn more about pending tick causes. Never seen brewing stands as item transport o.o only like slime + ice. But i don't like free floating items on servers. I've never had lag from overusing hoppers, but throw some items into a watersteam or ice/slime and everybody's items stop having physics XD Pressure plate is also a great idea! That's why I suggested a door. Keep you safe and make sure you don't leave on accident, but pressure plate activation is 100% guaranteed to turn off. No room for error. As for tridents, I havn't had them fall through in a very very very long time, so I was wondering it it's been fixed or what. I still face south when using trapdoor killers, but as long as i turn them off everything is always fine. I still read about it happening, so I've been really curious. Even tested more for the video, to try & make them break. Unloaded the area while they were moving, logged out with it on, & off, and none of them ever broke.. so I just assumed they are more stable now or something. All in all really great points!! I look forward to hearing from you again! I'm super curious to hear more details about these topics if you feel like it :D

@@OmLedu The build up of entitles causes stress on your cpu/server. When the game tries to queue the next tick, it fails. From my understanding a missed tick will only "pend" if there is a lot of entities. Real catch 22. Pending ticks cause the infamous random fall damage death, as well as mess up precise tick based contraptions. If on a realm it'll really hurt anyone else performance (The xp build up). If you log out with the farm on the tridents wont fall out of the world, they will go inbetween the trapdoor and blocks however. If that happens with a grindstone underneath you can just relog and the hitbox of the grindstone will realign the tridents so you don't have to rethrow them. Maybe because i'm on a realm? Weird though.

But that's why I never tick portals -.- fastest way to build up massive pending ticks & break everything lolol i try to avoid building them up as much as possible, but didn't know they can come from xp build up as well o.o catalysts it is!!! Haha That's good to know about the grindstones!! I will def try to remember that

@@LamaLuk Rocket (scaffolding mob farm) farm get's 10 stacks per hour at 1/4 size. So would get around 20 stacks at max size, maybe a bit more. (Because it's not optimized for split density, and reaches the creeper cap very often at 1/4th size anyway.) But ghast gets 60 stacks per hour at max and 30 at 1/2 :D

@@LamaLuk If you don't needs the tnt I would just build the scaffolding mob farm (the rocket farm) so that you get strings, bonez and all the other mob drops. I actually will usually build a small version of the scaffolding mob farm inside my base that uses fall damage instead of a trident killer. Like 24 blocks from my chest room, or wherever I hang out the most. Lower rates, but it's always producing as long as I'm hanging out, building, or sorting items. I wana build this. But let's say I don't ever wana be bothered by replacing tridents. Can I put powdered snow, or soul sand with a wither rose in place of each trap door with trident? I'm not concerned with rates. I have other sources of gunpowder. Really just want an easier way to grab some ghast tears when needed.

@@jonnytapasgaming9730 Hmmm it all depends on where exactly ghast hitboxes are, but I would assume floating lava or powder snow would totally work. Tridents falling through also depends on world lag & render distance. I've never actually had a trident fall through on any farm even if I forget and leave them on, because I play on a lower render distance. But!! You can also place upside down grindstones under the trap doors! That should always prevent the tridents from falling through. People in my discord even say that doing that will 'pop' the trident back into place if the trapdoors get messed up. If you just want some easy tears you could also build a glass platform 2 blocks above a large floor. Ghasts spawn trapped in the glass and can't see you. Then you can just kill em haha

@@OmLedu finally got around to this. Replacing any one of the 3 glass blocks surrounding the minecarts with a soul sand and wither rose works like a charm. Powdered snow works as well but kills much slower if you don't have access to wither roses.

Does it need to be in a soul sand biome ? I have a very large lake that I wish to attempt my 1st ghast farm in. Can you help with ghast spawn mechanics? I will start at y78 and chunk align and face south but wondering why 😂 (might help when bugfixing my build) thankyou for your vid !

@@stevecook1190 Yes need to be soul sand or else it will spawn mobs that you don't want & will hurt the rates. For chunk aligning, that is honestly just for the split density version. It keeps the ghasts exactly 4 chunks apart so that you can have 2 spawn on each side at any time. But if you only wanna build 1 side and never ever build the other, it doesn't need to be chunk aligned. As for starting on the north side. The game starts to the north when determining spawns. So building farms to your north get slightly better rates. Plus the trident killers need to open toward the south, so knowing the direction before hand makes that easy. At least in the past the flippy trap door trident killer would break allot if the trapdoor was facing any other direction. Not sure why, but i would guess it has something to do with the directions tridents face after being pushed a few times. & mobs spawn 24-44 blocks away from you so being at y 78 ensures they can't spawn on the lava, or on land that is even with the lava. It's super scary building over a lava lake XD def def def use potions of invisibility & with no armor! Everything will ignore you. & try to keep your stuff safe in a chest just incase the worst happens! Ones you get in the grove it'll be easier than you may thing :D Hope that helps!!! @@stevecook1190 yeryer! Anytime! Now for split density though, its basically 32-44 :< cuz u want to keep the mobs 4 chunks apart at all times, or they'll share a mob cap. So it's always finding a balance between maximizing spawn areas, vs double rates by ignoring mob caps t.t

@@wallie2strong516 If the trident killers aren't killing; Make sure the trap doors open toward the south. Then rethrow the tridents. Be sure to throw them so they are on top of the trap doors. And make sure there is no extra repeater delay between them and the comparator clock. If the clock isn't fast or if you unload the area while they are active, then the tridents fall through the trap doors and no longer work. And it might go without saying but just incase; trident killers don't work on java

@@040ryno How interesting! I didn't have that problem while testing, but!! If it does, you should just be able to expand the glass barricade. Let me measure really quick to see where exactly 1 sec...

@@040ryno okay! So from the top most glass. Go 2 blocks out, and 1 down. Build another line of glass there front & back. Then connect the ends of the new lines staying 1 block away from the ends of the original ones. But instead of a perfect rectangle, on the back corners that are short: stay 1 block away from the ends of the back glass, but connect them 1 block behind the redstone line. Then for good measure u can also add another new line of glass in the center, 1 block above the original glass lines, or maybe aligned with the glass lines. But i don't think they should be able to escape towsrd the middle because they should get captured again. Hope all that makes sense XD If not, you can join my discord and I'll post a picture haha

3 things can cause this, the tk doesn't have a rail in it. The tk might only have 1 minecart, or the glass barrier is misaligned.

@@arceusland ohhhh I didn't even think about it missing a minecart! Would be really hard to tell if it is or not Haha tbh i even thought about expanding the barrier just incase some strangeness happened. Like while i was testing i noticed that if you hit them, sometimes they pop out but usually they don't. So building an extra barrier would guarantee that it never happens kinda thing. But then figured it was an extra step, for a low chance happening, that only has potential when you poke them anyway.
