Thank you very much for the video - very informative. Can I offer some constructive (and I hope non-passive aggressive) feedback? Slow down and apply less force, when disassembling an assembly such as this. You mention that both the push-fit connectors are unreliable and that the heater clips are difficult to replace and unreliable. As I see it, there is a significant amount of damage being done in your removal technique, which is to blame for the aforementioned difficulties. For example, when removing the heater plate clips, spend more time aligning your tool (i.e. flat head screwdriver) into exactly the right position before levering, instead of having 'a bunch of goes at it'. Again - I hope this comes across as a friendly engineer advising a fellow engineer, and not pas-ag trolling! :)

Your two readings of 27 ohms and 15 ohms between each the thermal fuse pad and its associated element wire tell me that the thermal fuse pads are connected between a split element. ie 27 + 15 = total of 42 The Platinum + that I have here appears to have a similar 4 wire Element/Thermistor arrangement. ie. I measure 40 ohms for the element and 490 ohms for the thermistor. The thermistor appears to be a PTC type. Do you have any info on the specs for the internal Thermistors at all ?

Hi I will only share the information that it is not a thermistor. The elements are the same on the Gold, Max and Platinum Plus

I got my Platinum Plus ones from Amazon 2 weeks ago and it showed up that they were genuine according to the code on the label. The woman on the phone said they were genuine and knew which ones I'd just bought plus I've registered them for 3 years. I hope mine are genuine? How worrying.

interesting they have just remade the MK5 and ditched there tri zone idea (and those kapton ribbons), did not see much heater tenstion only time will tell if this causes cracked heaters.

@@Trevs-Shed I almost returned mine , everything checked out and had the website authenticate it , but then I saw the plastic pin and freaked out . Thank goodness for this video . I am shocked they use poor quality but they still work good for me anyway.

I just saw in your site that latest GHD gold is not repairable. My plug is broken. Will it work if I replace it with a new plug?

@@nethramugala3232 Hi The cable can be replaced on that model but we only have the UK type. Cut the broken plug off and fit a new one. That is not a problem at all.
