Gheenoe Demolition - Rebuilding My 1984 Boat

This is the destruction of a 1984 Gheenoe that was headed to the dump. This video talks about the first step of restoration, DEMOLITION!!! This was my first time working with a boat, so I’m sure I could l have done things easier or better. Please give me tips so I know for the future!

Good job with the restore. My son and I are beginning restore on a early 80s gheenoe and 82 Coochie (like gheenoe). We look forward to joining others on the water with these great classics.

@@DesOnTheFly I bought the LT 25 in seafood green, with aluminum center console steering and rear platform to match. I went all out, figured why not spend a little more to be done right. Guaranteed to be the only one in Iowa. Would love to see the follow up on yours

What paint stripper did you use? I’m going to put Facso steel flex and I’m using a side grinder to remove it.

I used this stuff Dumond 027691033322 Smart Strip by Peel Away One Quart ‘Sample Size’ Paint Remover, 1, White a.co/d/4tnm98s I put the fiasco steel flex on the bottom of mine last year!!! It is awesome!!!!! What color are you adding? It made so much difference! I don’t even need the boat in the water to launch I just push it with one hand and it sliiiiides off. Just make sure you have the back secured when you travel or that thing will be on the road at the first turn.

Theres no such thing as rotten fiber glass. It isn't biodegradable

Hey! I agree, but a lot of the side walls were brittle. (Not something I’m used to when working with fiberglass) it may not have been rotten but it definitely wasn’t viable.
