Great conversation. And I loved Lynn's final point. That is also something I'm trying to get across in what I'm writing. It's something I feel very personally towards. I also wanted to really amp it up to extremes and see how far can and should we take forgiveness.

Thank you so much! Yeah, the theme of forgiveness and redemption is timeless. It all always depends on execution whether they worked or not! :)

Thanks for the video. Awhile back, I was wondering if there will be this kind of video with the author. You make my dream come true. I finished reading this book 2 weeks ago, and have to say it's one of the best books I read in 2024. I can't wait for her new book to come out. Thanks, Petrik for giving a book review before it was released. If not, I would have missed out this book :)

She really is confident. I am getting Pierce Brown energy from her. And she has done art for her own book! In theory she Could do a Manga adaptation on her own !!

One thing I noticed when reading something unpleasant is: my brain tries to find a pattern out of the mess this introduction is in. As if it can be saved. When the reader is presented a bad situation and if they're given the time to process it, they may reflect on how to overcome this situation(as if they were the characters, essentially empathizing with them). Not everything that is unpleasant is, necessarily, bad. Catharsis is something we intrinsically find entertaining, even if it is provoking, moving, or irritating even. I didn't finish watching, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems you chose to write a main character that is unlikable(which is the bad situation) and there is no way to contour/avoid it during the first part. In the beginning of the video you say "but this is my objective, the character needs to be unlikable", was it your final draft's plan? What tools did you use to circumvent the unreliability of the main charac. in order to make the introduction a good ride?

I will die on the hill that Howl's Moving Castle is the single most boring piece of media I've ever seen and the reason I refuse to watch anything else Ghibli does. Mononoke Hime was pretty good though, I saw that first.

You will be lonely on that hill but not alone!! :D I, like Lynn, watched Mononoke a bit later!
