Ghoomar is a traditional folk dance of Rajasthan, known for its graceful movements, vibrant costumes, and cultural significance. It is primarily performed by women during festivals, weddings, and special occasions. The dance originates from the Bhil tribe but was later adopted by Rajasthani royal communities, including the Rajputs.
Bollywood popularized Ghoomar through films like Padmaavat (2018), featuring a stunning Ghoomar sequence by Deepika Padukone.
UNESCO has also acknowledged Rajasthan’s folk arts, preserving Ghoomar as an intangible cultural heritage.
