In an earlier reaction you did for Spillways, you mentioned not catching a lot of the Satanic vibe. You have to keep in mind that Ghost is more than just a band - they are a story. And you also have to understand - Tobias Forge is an atheist. He doesn't believe in Satan - but "Satanism" is a vehicle for creating satire. What he's doing with the Satanic satire is to turn a mirror back on so much of the popular religion today and say "oh, you think Satanism is monstrous and scary? Well, we look at you singing praise songs to a god that is supposedly going to eternally torture most of the people on earth - including some of your relatives and friends - while you party and sing to him, and we think THAT is monstrous and scary."

Ghost (or Tobias) is truly a genius in writing songs. The underlying meaning in the lyrics is so awesome! I fell in love with them back in 2014 and are still in love with their music! A funny trivia is that among the party animals in the video, you can see Kirk Hammett, Phil Anselmo, and Chalie Benante, amongst others. Happy chasing down the ghost rabbit hole!

Been waiting for this one guys🤘Loved the smile on your face when Papa starts to sing.. 😀 This one is from the "Prequelle" album.. and the theme of the album is the black plague.. the pandemic that killed around 25 million people in Europe. The disease was spread both from human to human.. and by animals (mostly rats). When people realized they were most certainly going to die of the plague, they partied and danced like there literally were no tomorrow. That is described as a dance macabre.. ("Ma' caabreh") Looking at the lore and history of Ghost, this allegedly shows the first meeting back in the day between Sister Imperator and Papa Nihil. (The first Ghost vocalist) As you can see in the opening scene.. The guy at the door is quite dismissive.. until he realizes that the person to his right is actually the guy supposed to become Papa Nihil. So he states "We've been expecting you".. Sister Imperator, waiting patiently.. recognized Papa, and connects with him.. She gives Papa his first skull paint during the party, and as you can see she knocks Papas left eye white which becomes the well known feature of all the Papa characters.. Being their first meeting.. also explains the "The beginning" line at the end of the video.. You _have_ to see them live.. going to my ninth Ghost concert in June, when they are one of the headliners at the 4 days long "Tons of Rock" festival in Oslo, Norway. 🤘 Just to show some of the genius diversity.. Without deep-diving into the "lore" I got that they were waiting for him at this initiation ceremony thingy ("weve been expecting you")... so is the other guy his BROTHER? Tobias has spoken about his unexpected death the day before Ghost was launched. I actually cried when I realized (umpteenth time seeing the vid) that this might be what we're seeing in the video storyline: a "trade". Birth of Papa thru sacrifice of the brother. Am I off?

@@Chris_Gangstad Never heard that one before.. So I wouldn't know. 🤔 Tobias' brother died suddenly of a heart disease, and we don't know if Papas friend died of the "feasting". (I thought the point of feasting on blood was to keep the victim alive for as long as possible, not to spoil the blood.) But none the less. The comparison could be made I guess. Fun fact.. The actor who plays Papas friend is also playing the character in the black & white movie shown in Square Hammer video. He who wields the square hammer in the crypt. 😊🔨

Great reaction. As you mention, Ghost - mastermind "Mr. Ghost" Tobias Forge - writes amazing songs. Their level of quality is so high - every album, track, video, show is done with fanatical attention to detail. They seem to be filling a huge void - and have a keen sense of how to write catchy, melodic rock/hard rock music.

The music you hear fading out at the beginning of the video is their instrumental track Miasma which is an absolute banger of an 80s homage. If you listen carefully, there's an odd sonic thread between Mary on a Cross, Miasma and this song , which I totally love

The underlaying music when they were at the door at the beginning is Ghost's instrumental called Miasma it is off the same album as Dance Macabre. It is an awesome track worth a listen as well, it has a fantastic guitar and saxophone solo in it!

Is it just me, or has anyone else had the illusion of the main riff starting on the one count at the beginning, then somehow "sliding" to the four count as the song takes off? Follow the drums and they'll show you it was on four from the very start. That's the kind of s---t I like about this band.😁
