I gotta say, seeing them open with this song on tour caught me completely off guard and it was so insane. Will never forget it. A whole month before the album released, really something special to be surprised like that.

I got spoiled on it before seeing them but it just floored the whole damn city. They gave the album recording as a bonus for some customers before release as well, and after the concert I found a pirated download.

Ghost became an 80s Rock metal and I am fucking down with it...
@danielpavlik7242 Жыл бұрын
In my opinion the sound got really some sort of power to unify the audience over generations. Its like 17 years old band so nowadays you can see people 50+ who listen to them, they have also become more and more mainstream in last 5 - 7 years so you got another group of 25 - 40 fans and recently one of their song exploded on TikTok so even the teens know them and some really like them too. When you put this in perspective, its just freakin insane what this band achieved and theyre still booming and growing.

For those who want to know, this song is apparently about the Christian mob who murdered Hypatia, a pagan librarian/philosopher who lived in Rome within the 2nd century. The theme of the album is about the fall of empires, and Ghost seems to want to critize the intolerance of religion here.

Tobias is islamophobic?
@ajalonzo27052 жыл бұрын
@@jonasthemovie I mean any atheist worth their salt is by default Islamophobic as well as christian-phobic. I as an atheist by default am Islamophobic. I don't have any shame in either because all the Abrahamic faiths (including islam) are barbaric and should be expunged from the world. We shouldn't be living with doctrine that hasn't advanced since the bronze age and Islam is a particular culprit seeing as its never had reformation like Christianity and Judaism has.

I think this is the best song on Impera. That first fill is straight out of Crazy Train, and then out of nowhere you get that interlude and it turns into Dream Theater. Love it.

I'll say this, to open an album with this song, second on the list, but the first actual song, Ghost just killed it! They nailed the opening song like no band has done in decades! This blows away anything they've done......ever! Kaisarion is one of those songs that will live forever! Actually, if truth be told, this whole album will live forever! One of the all-time greatest albums ever done! Period! Oh, and I'm a snobby Jazz Fusion guy! And Ghost is one of my all-time favorite bands! Go figure!
@wallywest23602 жыл бұрын
Yup. Impera was a surprise for me. I expected to like it, but holy damn is it fantastic. I imagine why people who usually don't like rock/metal can get into Ghost is Tobias weaves so many different styles and types of music into his compositions. The songwriting this time around is just so good, he's a genius.

Loved watching you work through and commenting: ‘Oh my god - Let’s go!’ first time starting at 1:22 and ‘That arpeggio riff is so f’kin good!’ at 2:36 the 2nd time around. That sequence is the highlight of the song.

You're the best, Chain. Your face and expressions always reflect the mental gymnastics your brain cells are scrambling through - Sort of like a Parkour Pro systematically navigating the leaps and grabs of an unknown urban cityscape: Hail Mary leaps, hanging on for dear life, moments of 'damn, I'm good', then scraping your knee - but you keep moving! Awesome!

That part at 2:15 that the charter put as just a swipe while picking is actually much cooler and I haven't figured it out yet. The guitarist is scraping the pick down the high strings while tapping with his left hand near the top of the neck. It's a combination of sliding and tapping that sounds really unique.

I'm more of a fan of the early ghost, papa 2 Era is my favorite but I have to say this song is so fucking good. I literally have to listen to it multiple times a day, I haven't had a Ghost song hook me in that hard since monstrance clock. This the best song on the new album in my opinion, I just wish Tobias could maybe channel that darker mysterious Ghost once again and make me feel like part of a cult rather than another big rock band, although I wish them great success such a great show can't wait to see them in September.
