Finally reacting to Ghost Love Score by Nightwish
WOW! I wanted to keep the whole original track in this reaction and analysis so you can fully feel what I was feeling - but so much talk about the voice still!
To watch the original video (which I recommend first so you can experience it for yourself!) click here - • NIGHTWISH - Ghost Love...
Ghost Love Score - Nightwish Live at Wacken Open Air 2013
Are you a fan? I think it's pretty obvious that I am!
Ghost Love Score is vocally demanding as we go through many singing styles, but listen to how effortlessly Floor Jansen sings and easy it is for us to listen to. You can tell how much she looks after her voice. The whole Nightwish performance too - what a great performance to witness - thank you for suggesting it :)

Hello Jennifer Glatzhofer ! Nightwish fans here, your musical quest summoned us. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air festival 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of a 82k audience. Also a recent sad news - these days Marco Hietala, the bass player and male singer of the band, announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw, you enjoyed the powerful performance of the band, together with the stellar vocals of our Dutch metal queen, Floor Jansen. Thank you for your vocal technical insights. Hope you'll continue on this path. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs (with links) with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory): "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKvCaIJ5eLafjtU "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqfOiqqFf7-ChLc "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLYZoSgnsl7jck "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmbImqeaYqp0bKs "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haeydWmumsijnpY "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ_UlnxuZZyNors "Sleeping Sun" live at Vizovice Masters of Rock festival 2016 (ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/poezhYh7jJaDe68 "The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco in charge..) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "Alpenglow" live at Wembley 2015 (uplifting / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKOtp36Qg6qbbck "Sahara" live at Tampa 2016 (middle eastern vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooXZipmClpmKos0 "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXKXZaeglrVopJI "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOylZqun8djoa8 "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VZGyGl9aVoNE "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqfWl6p3hceKjsU And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqbaimSaYrB8qdU Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..) The links presented above are with the current singer of the band, Floor Jansen, since I'm a fan of the recent era of the band, with Floor as the singer. I have nothing against previous singers, but I do not consider myself the most suitable person to give specific recommendations from their repertoires. ** I think it's your place, fans of previous Nightwish eras, to present to the reactors the best recommendations with Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon, because you know and appreciate them directly. I encourage you to add the best recommendations in the comments. ** That being said, I will add here the message left the other days by an old fan of the band, @Fabrizio Gorla: " To be fair to the old fanbase, you may want to include also some of these songs. Just be fair and don’t make a comparison if you don’t want an open war in your comment section. * The Tarja era *: The power of Tarja - Nightwish - Wishmaster [Live] - kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3u3nXtrZ5Z4bNk The lyrics of this song are a treasure of citations from fantasy books. Then 15 weeks ago she dropped the third cover, in Dutch: "Is Dit Nou Later" from Stef Bos - already 267K views. Just before Christmas she made a powerful cover of "Ave Maria" - already 282K views. 12 weeks ago she added a remastered / remixed version of the first one, "Let It Go" - already 183K. 10 weeks ago she added to the list a powerful cover of "Adagio" by Lara Fabian (!!!) - 385K views now. Then, just 5 weeks ago she gave us the last one so far: "Oblivion" by M83 - 386K views in 5 weeks.. Thank you! Waiting for more Nightwish reactions. All the best from RO. Stay safe.

@@JenniferGlatzhofer Remember that Floor is very well warmed up by this song - it is the 13th of 15 in their 90 minute headlining set at Wacken 2013, and they had been on stage for 70 minutes at the start of this song, although Floor was doing a costume change during one - which had a slight malfunction, which was remedied in the intermezzo section of this song after putting up with it for the three previous ones - can you see where it is fixed? Once you know, it is clear, but on her entry to the stage after the instrumental ("Last Of The Wilds") and costume change, for "Bless This Child", Floor arrives at the sprint and hits the mic on the millisecond! The Intermezzo on this song was the first chance she had to get it fixed. The whole concert is worth watching, although a few of the songs do have better recordings from elsewhere - "I Want My Tears Back", for example, is better at Buenos aires 2018 - the audio quality is similar (most of the officially recorded ones are good) but the audience energy and interraction makes the difference. Just avoid fan-cams, which have universally dreadful audio quality, unless it is for a song you can't get any other way. And because the band in general and Floor in particular gain energy from live audiences (Floor has said so herself), they are almost always better than the studio work. Singing in an isolated recording booth does not lend itself te the passion you see in the live shows.

Speaking of looking after your voice, this song was #13 of 15 on the set list of the Wacken 2013 concert. So that type of stamina is also a much welcomed quality in a singer. Rio 2012 is also wonderful: better camera love for Floor, more audience including them chanting her name after just one concert never having heard her before, clearer choir in the mix, and I'd say more sincere expression overall, not as polished yet as here. She also had a cold which helped the grit & choked up feels. She was auditioning still and not a permanent band member yet. Actually I like Rio more than this more refined "perfect" version, for those reasons.

Please react to Nightwish rendition of "The Phantom of the Opera" with the original Nightwish female vocalist Tarja Turunen. It's from Helsinki Finland 2005 End of an Era concert. Tarja is not as versatile a singer as Floor, but her operatic vocal style really fits the song. But for me the star of the performance is the bassist Marko Hietala, in the role of the Phantom/Eric. For me it is the best version I know. Marko has blown away several opera singers, vocal coaches, music teachers with his vocals. Greetings from Helsinki Finland!

I was surprised by two things. The fact that she was nervous that day. I know it’s a normal human reaction but she looked so confident up there. And the second thing when she teared up after that last note. I didn’t expect it since she sang the song 100 times but it still got to her. A lot of musician get jaded by their own music. It was wonderful to see tbh.

An 8 year old performance of a 17 year old song still blowing peoples minds, Nightwish been doing this for 25 years now, sooooo underrated and so sad that the majority of the world is only just discovering them, "raw" talent, there's nothing "raw" about it their all masterful and Tuomas Holopainen has got to be the most underrated composer's in history, he is a pure genius at putting together these monumental once heard never forgot scores, as for Floor, words cannot describe her very very few singers can sing anything and everything with perfection. These modern day "popular" music female singers who call themselves "Diva's" Know nothing, Floor has no limits, no boundaries, no specific style, whatever you've heard from her and how ever much , you've seen nothing yet.

Hi from the UK. Just another day at the Nightwish office! Floor is Dutch and is classically trained. She is a 1.8m powerhouse and can really "sell" a story with emotion, expression and her vocal gymnastics. Nightwish instrumentalists...there are no words. Always epic performances, sometimes inclusive with audience participation and brilliant compositions, which take you on a journey! Great reactions and analysis. Best wishes and stay safe.

Welcome, Jennifer, from the Southern California contingency of the Nightwish Army. We all love Floor for her amazing talent and grace. This is a band I consider the best of the past 25 years, and my music appreciation began more than 60 years ago. Want to take a moment to recognize the composer: Tuomas Holopainen, and the entire band (Tuomas on keys, Marco on bass, Emppu on guitar and Jukka on drums), plus the London Philharmonic Orchestra playing in the background. The is much that makes this performance so exceptional. This song was written years before this performance, for a different lead singer (Tarja Turunen), yet most of us NW fans recognize that Floor's performance here in 2013 was seminal. Floor is a generational talent. I hope you continue exploring the rabbit hole that is the greatness of Nightwish (with Floor and before), as I have enjoyed. It is very much a rewarding experience. PS: It is "My Fall", not "My Fail."

As I understand it, Floor rolled the dice on that high note - it wasn't planned, she was just "feeling it" extra good that night, and went for it - and it came out perfectly. You can almost tell how pleased (and pleasantly surprised) she is with that execution. It's what I feel makes this performance THE performance of that song ; from any other year, from any other venue.

Hey there Jen!!!! I saw it was you and I had to click on this video. Lets get deep into this masterpiece of a show. Floor is a vocal beast. A damn good looking beast, but a vocal beast nevertheless! I am interested in what you have to say. You usually manage to teach me something & you often make me laugh. For that I thank YOU!!!! Lets go......... Yes the notes are long. As is her cape! My favorite part is near the end, they leave the stage. When they return Floor blasts us away with her voice!!!! At times she is the conductor. Directing the crowd!! And on a side note she rides horses. I think you smiled the entire video. For a darn good reason. This is a masterpiece!! I saved the best for last --- She recently BEAT cancer!!! You go girl................... Please take care Jen and keep these lessons and reactions coming, please!

You are so smart. Floor is awesome. So good, so well trained. Lieder Style. She relaxes and sings these notes with ease. Plus she is easy to look at. She covers "Alone" and does a wonderful job of it. The members of the band are working hard also. The drummer kills it. Don't be afraid. They just charged up before the next section. Floor really sings her tail off in this portion. It gets better and better.. This is my favorite part of the song. She makes the difficult look easy. Bravo! I saw an interview with Floor and she said there was 80,000 fans at this show. She said she got energy from them. And it shows. So very special! I would like to thank you for your insights. Take care.

I have heard that around 80,000 people attended this event. They are pumped. And then we have Floor - a rock goddess. Such a voice. Plus she is hot, cape and hair flips. Engages the audience involves them in the show. I am a bit smitten by this lady. She is well trained and great at her craft. She just builds it to a climax. Plus the band is working their butts off. You can see the crowd surrendering to the sound. This video and their skill brings me to tears. What skill.!!!! I would love to see this. Money, who cares. Worth it! Masters at work here.

Well... as you've come to know by now, you've appeared on the Nightwish army's radar. Expect a lot more visits. And since it's impossible to leave it simply at Ghost Love Score and you are bound to take the incredible Nightwish journey, i have just one request - please pay proper respect to The Poet and The Pendulum since it's probably the most sacred song to any Nightwish fan. The story behind it is really deep and don't be ashamed if you're about to cry. IT's the greatest respect you can pay and we all appreciate it. Tbh i kinda envy everyone who is just now about to embark on a Nightwish journey - i really wish i could experience all of it for the first time again.
