Hello Jess [Soprano Notes] ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra, London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. You really understood what Floor Jansen did there, and thank you for explaining it to us all! Instant subscribe for that. You appreciate all the key elements of a Nightwish show: the intricate classical-structured "cinematic score" composition, the high level of musicianship of all band members, the stellar vocals and charisma of Floor Jansen, our Dutch metal queen. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory): "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKvCaIJ5eLafjtU "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqfOiqqFf7-ChLc "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLYZoSgnsl7jck "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmbImqeaYqp0bKs "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haeydWmumsijnpY "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ_UlnxuZZyNors "Sleeping Sun" live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTSpZ-wp56qhNk "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXKXZaeglrVopJI "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOylZqun8djoa8 "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VZGyGl9aVoNE "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqfWl6p3hceKjsU And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqbaimSaYrB8qdU Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg You can also react to Floor Jansen "tapping" other musical genres in Beste Zangers 2019 (TV show from Netherlands) here is a playlist made by Floor herself (start listen it in reverse order..): kzbin.info/aero/PL8iSYWeQhlimgUnWw1FDdiJN0msPzqpLo To understand better the context of this show you should visit also Jenniezelf's YT channel (En subtitled materials): kzbin.info For entire episodes of the show with En translation, you should check Denise Hofs's DM channel: www.dailymotion.com/xpinkeu/videos In these pandemic times, Floor Jansen has decided to make covers for us, which you can find on her YT channel kzbin.info/door/xy4Ijz2QKXXJaREs-isxwA - there are already 2 covers there, the first is "Let It Go" from "Frozen" (2 weeks ago, already over 1M views) and the second - "Alone" from "Heart" (released just a few hours ago) .. The Drummer on this is Jukka Nevalainen. He's a human metronome. Floor is a vocal teacher herself and has exquisite understanding and control of those gold plated pipes of hers. It also helps that she's 6 feet tall or so. She has a large chest cavity for resonance and air storage. Throw in the insane amount of work she's put into her craft, and I bet she could take in enough air to swim to the bottom of the ocean if she holds her breath. They are all amazing musicians. By the time this song turned up in the set, they had been going for a while already and they still make a live performance sound like it was done in studio.

I've been listening to Nightwish since I was 14, I'm almost 30 now.. and saw the them for the first time 3 years ago. And I legit couldn't contain myself- I cried so much. I was shook to the core. My dad and I discovered them when I was a teen and its our one band we connect with together the most. I'm so thankful for them, they got me through some of the darkest moments in my life and I still listen to them now. I'm so happy I ran into your reaction video, it brought me back to how I first felt about them and I'm tearing up even as I write this comment. LOL I also love all your commentary and appreciation for them. They really are life changing.

This was everything I ever wanted in a Nightwish vocal reaction! Thank you! You picked up on so much. Floor Jansen is otherworldly. She has classical training, and can also growl (see Yours is an Empty Hope). I recommend checking out Storytime, and Song of Myself - each Nightwish song you listen to will surprise you! Hope to see more NW reactions from you :)

Jess: takes 2 minutes out to analyse the first pretty bit in Ghost Love Score Nightwish Army: "this is going to be a LOOOONG video..." Nice one Jess: it's always a pleasure to see somebody who knows what they're talking about confirm what the rest of us feel, but can't express so well. Also, your voice is gorgeous! GLS is about 60%ish of what Floor and Nightwish can do. It's a deep rabbit hole to go down, but I've yet to see a single person regret it. The Nightwish Army will be along shortly with all the recommendations you could want. My vote? For a pro singer to react to? How's The Heart (Live Accoustic Session). Other opinions are available...

Please continue the Nightwish journey. It’s a life changing experience! Floor can sing anything from opera to death growls. She is super versatile! About a year ago she was on a Dutch Tv show called Beste Zangers and she did 6 solo songs and 2 duets. She sang in 4 different languages. She did a German opera song called Vilja Lied and she did Phantom of the Opera with the original Dutch Phantom Henk Poort. It recently hit 10 million views. The night it was aired it broke the internet. Also check out her personal YT channel. She has been releasing covers cause she misses singing so much. 1st cover was Let it Go (Frozen) and today she released Alone (Heart). And yes her breath control is ridiculous. According to Floor she has the lungs of a diver. Looking at your reaction you just experienced your first Floorgasm 🤘🏻❤️

I'm so glad you enjoyed that moment of calm in the music. A lot of people who react to this song tend to get confused by it like ''is the song over?'' lol. But it's a beautiful part of the music that was composed for an effect!! I really hope you continue diving into nightwish! This is just the tip of the iceberg of what this band has to offer. I recommend two Nightwish/Floor Jansen songs that I think will appeal to you. "Shoemaker" is a song about the NASA scientist Eugene Shoemaker, whose ashes are scattered on the moon. In this song, Floor moves through some very technically difficult singing and finishes with a display of her opera capabilities: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJvTkHecq6-co8k The second song, "Yours Is An Empty Hope" puts the opposite end of the Floor vocal spectrum on display as she goes into death metal mode. Pay close attention to Floor in the chorus as most reactors completely miss it as they don't think that a woman can sound like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqbaimSaYrB8qdU Here are their tour dates with three shows in the U.S. nightwish.com/#tour
@billattercliffe86554 жыл бұрын
OK, let's make it three songs as Floor just dropped a cover of Heart's "Alone" which she recorded at home. If you like insanely high mixed belts, buckle up: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5fYXqyGa9Zpfc0
@adecentdelinquent89864 жыл бұрын
I think in "Yours is An Empty Hope" the problem is the sound mixing, her growls are so low in the mix both studio version and live version. The bassist's vocals is overshowding her because his voice is more high pitched in this case and so is louder than her lower pitched growls.
@billattercliffe86554 жыл бұрын
@@adecentdelinquent8986 Another explanation is that she is simply holding back and letting Marko's voice lead. We hear her crank up the volume at the end of the song. It's really noticeable in the Rock in Rio concert how loud her growl can actually be.
@Temujim4 жыл бұрын
@@billattercliffe8655 I think youre right there (I didnt even know she was the one growling, never had seen the live version). She lets Marko take the lead intentionelly using the growl to give power to the chorus. I'm 100% not a pro dont even know how to sing, is just my feeling there.
