Taka was definitely brave! You can clearly see how scared he was when the Khan gave him the sword, Taka knew he would be lucky to even strike 1 blow against him, let alone defeating him, Jin was even telling him to run but he didn’t. It takes a lot of bravery to stand up to a man you’ve got no chance against, Taka knew his fate was sealed then and there, still he chose to stand with Jin till the end even if it would cost him his life.

I think Taka thought he had a chance at saving Jin by killing or hurting the khan. I think that he thought it would be far more unexpected for him to do that to attack the khan than it was. The Kahn was a step ahead of Taka, but Taka just didn’t realize that, or if he did he was sure brave to try anyways. Can’t even really blame Jin he told him to go back to Yuna, but he’s his own man at the end of the day responsible for his own decisions. His idea to cause a diversion was actually pretty smart, he wasn’t taking too much risk and he succeeded with the whole plan but he shouldn’t have gone back for Jin alone, he should have went and got reinforcements. He was just loyal to Jin and didn’t want to risk him getting killed if he wasted any time going back for reinforcements. He was inspired to be brave and stealthy, he believed he could sneak in there like the ghost and save the homie and return the favor like when Jin first saved him. Gotta respect Takas heart man, he had balls of steel to come so far from his former harmless, non-brave, cowardly self. At least he found his courage and died fighting like a man. RIP to the kind soul Taka he will be remembered… and avenged🙏🫡🥷🔥

I think the one thing you guys missed is Jin saying you did nothing to protect our people, it connects back to his flashback when his uncle asked him what honour means to Jin and Jin said protecting those who cannot protect themselves. He cares about his people more than the code and politics, whereas his uncle reprimands/reminds him that honour and loyalty to the shogun is paramount compared to the protection of the people.

36:49 To be fair, it’s not just Shimura. All Samurai are like this. It’s their code. If Shimura changed his tactics, he would be arrested and probably executed.

To be honest, taka wasn't getting out of there alive. Because the khan was already prepared by the way he was standing. Also, you can never trust the word of the enemy just like Jin and his uncle didn't believe a word the khan said. I say taka was brave enough to swing the sword at the khan even though he couldn't win or land a hit on him. (P.s. correct me if I'm spelling the khan's title name wrong.)

Shimura is a strict conservative character, doesn't want change, believes in his ancestors' knowledge no matter what. This was great until they only had to fight each other over some rice fields, but obviously didn't work against the mongols. Jin, as the progressive thinker realizes he needs to evolve, so he becomes a hybrid style warrior as the new challenges demand. This polarization is a great part of the game's storytelling.

This is an easy choice when warfare is samurai against samurai, where you have assurance that even defeat will warrant honor and respect. In real life, it is intensely unlikely samurai would have been this stupid against foreign invaders.

The khan wasn’t gonna kill Jin right after capture. If Taka didn’t try and return to rescue Jin himself he could’ve regrouped with Yuna and the others to save him. I think he did this because not only did he look up to Jin, he was sick of feeling helpless and always needing his sister. Feelings of helplessness with a combination of Yuna never letting him stand on his own two feet. Takas a grown man not a baby, instead of trying to toughen him up Yuna sheltered him his whole life. I think after seeing a man he respects fight so hard and make sacrifices he decided, it’s time I man up myself for once, even if it kills me. At least that’s how I see it. Rip Taka

"Terror is not the weapon of a samurai!" That's why samurai wore massive armor with horns and demon faces, right? Because they didn't want to frighten the superstitious illiterate masses, right?!

Yes, unfortunately KZbin refuses to push our play through videos so they get low views this making it pointless to make them. We seem to get more views when we react to the games vs actually playing them.

Did the person who posted the video skip Norio's introduction and missions or did i miss an episode?
@Menno0183

As far as I know I have seen his introduction somewhere in the last videos, but the person playing doesn’t do any side missions sadly. It’s a shame, not only for Norio’s side missions but also for the ones from Lady Masako, Sensei Ishikawa, Kenji, Yuriko and even Yuna, those missions provide a lot of context and explain the characters really well!

Why the eyeroll at Jin paying respects to Taka’s body, telling him to find peace? Lol did I miss something? Also Taka was dead either way, he was only gonna get out of there alive by killing Jin. I’m glad he died standing up for Jin and not running.

It didn’t have to go this way. As my wife said, he could’ve used the sword to attempt to free Jin.

@@TNTGamingonline ah okay, I thought the problem was specifically the act of Jin paying his respects so I was confused lol, but I see it’s more that you think it could’ve gone another way which is totally fair, it’s a frustrating situation. Personally, I think that while the idea of setting Jin free instead is nice, that plan is really underestimating how calculating the Khan is. To set him free, Taka would have needed to cut the rope from either the side or back, so he would’ve needed to move to the side at least a little bit to not hurt Jin. The Khan would’ve absolutely seen this coming and cut him down before he took 2 steps. You don’t need to move sideways to kill someone right in front of you who can’t even fight back, it’s just one quick swipe or one direct stab. Maybe a really skilled swordsman would’ve been able to free Jin from the front without hurting him, which Taka was not. Basically, I think in that moment the Khan was ready for anything.

Maybe y’all don’t understand what a samurai is. They have their own way. Shimura is just doing what he’s supposed to be doing as a samurai. Jin can walk this “ghost” path . But just not as a samurai is all. Because samurai don’t poison. They die if they have to die . But no matter what they do they’re honorable. I think that’s the point . Look into history at what really happened in this war
@TNTGamingonline

I heard the stuff about honor was made up by some western guy romanticized Japanese culture in books. In reality the Samurai were just as self serving and opportunistic as anyone else. It’s a misconception that they lived by such strict standards.
