On another note, the latest nightmare weekly story mission was a breeze and was able to farm a bunch of legendary gear. And yeah, the bomb build is broken. Hit 293 kills my last Gold survival. Second place had 67 kills.

The game traps you in animations. Jumping circumvents them and gives you precious milli seconds which really save your life. Jumping + ghost weapons, for instance, especially healing gords or smoke bombs.

little tip: you can outjump the brute circle aoe when they slam their staff on the ground. helps to live when there are many enemies around you. Just hop shortly after they put their staff down. definitely better than rolling away backwards into a blind spot

Essentially the same thing I run, but I swapped spirit kunai for the sticky bomb. I can't heal myself, but after the bomb spam you leave a lot of enemies really low. So throwing 5 kunai into the pack usually nets 2-3 kills so that's 30-45 second cooldown on your smoke and vanish.

That is way better than most assassin builds, I dropped 312 on gold with my ronin but have yet to try nightmare with him, bomb packs are amazing and the aoe devastation with his extra ghost dmg and black powder bombs with increased radius, and ammunition being so available makes me an unstoppable napalm bomber

would swap out the legendary sticky bomb for the legendary smoke bomb in nightmare. most archers are using some sort of status arrows (poison/fire) in nightmare so the legendary smoke bomb will not only provide heals and munitions for the group, but will net some free damage for the rest of the group. i actually always have my group run smoke bombs with munitions.

Been running a version very close to this and I can concur it wrecks. One change I made was using forbidden medicine for heals and dirt throw instead of stickies and I like the setup a lot. Back to forbidden medicine though, I have all legendaries and I feel like it might be the best or right up there with skipping stone bow. Being able to use bombs that heal is just so damn good with assassin and on nightmare that extra heal matters a lot.

So your video inspired me to play around with the assassin.. I haven't been able to get a bomb pack yet, so I changed it up a bit. With the gear I got as much extra stealth attack damage and ability cooldown as possible. In total I have about +90% stealth attack damage. When I use the vanish ability I'm now able to assassinate Oni enemies. I also got the chain vanish on one of my gear plus the chain vanish technique, making me able to do 3 stealth attacks. So I basically just run around and vanish as much as possible and just stealth everything haha. It's not as good as your build, but it's still pretty fun! I'm going to keep trying for a bomb pack so I can try your build 😃 thanks for the video!

The difference is I run super massive kuni to finish off multiple kills and I run the healing smoke bomb since it heals more than the healing sticky bomb especially since I'll be in the area of the healing smoke while getting assassin kills rather than a small burst of healing

didnt get the sticky bomb he has but mist of yagata is a pretty good replacement. smoke bomb heals allies, stealth attack 25, cooldown reduction 15, and creates ammo pickups on use. i feel like the extra ammo makes up for no cooldown on kill. it sucks to have to wait a few more seconds on cooldown but you can roll away and use the 5 or 6 bombs you just gained instead.

Have you tried this build with spirit kunai? With double cooldown reduction it resets itself and gives 15 second cooldown on vanish and smoke, you can get your smoke back insanely fast and more munitions drops

The damage the kunai make is pretty bad which often means you have to shoot them at enemies that are *almost* dead. Plus, you lose the ability to self-heal with the sticky bomb, which has saved me on many occasions. I've done a Ronin build that uses the Kunai because they get +50% damage increase for it, so they end up one-shotting all regular enemies.

i have this build but use Spirit Kunai for insane cdr instead of sticky bomb. if you can manage good rolls on an assassin charm, id go for Hysteria instead of chain vanish since you're using bomb pack which cant roll any stealth atk dmg on it, i personally use combat healing. you basically never want flat cooldown reduction, you only care abt cdr on kill. one or two kills with cdrok can outperform flat cdr. go for ghost weapon dmg instead.

I've done runs with legendary kunai and also with Histeria on Nightmare. Gustaría Is absolutely worthless in my opinion. It doesn't last too long and sometimes enemies will attack you anyway under it's effects. Even if they attack other enemies, the attack rate is poor. They mostly just run around doing nothing for a few seconds. Overall it provides nothing of value in my opinion, and nightmare runs I did with it were harder than the ones with chain vanish. The kunai don't do enough damage to be reliable with the Assassin, in my opinion as well. The bomb ghost weapon does provide some assassination opportunities!

Using spirit kunai and focusing on simply assassinating is better imo. Stacking chain vanish twice also means that's a free kill that will reduce your cooldown guaranteed even further if you're using reduce cooldown on kill. I only use the ult to get out of danger, kill the oni archers, or teleport to a zone. The bombs are a must in survival or even aggressive stealth in story. There's no way to heal but if you have a Ronin on your team you should be fine. Even without a heal you can purchase the regenerate health ability in Survival which is enough.

Being able to decimate an army is great; but at the same time, a good build must be able to contribute to bonus objectives as well. Defeating enemies with fire, ranged kills and headshots, and perfect parries are all bonus objectives that I notice being failed more than others. Missing out on shrines for reforging.

The difference being yours is based around finishing the survival as quickly as possible through aggressive tactics, where as others are based on having a wide range of methods for dealing with whatever the game asks of you. Creating a build with a sole intention of max damage output is the other side of the spectrum to creating builds for challenges. I personally find running a mission repeatedly boring compared to changing up play style constantly. I can get 240+ kills with a hunter while also completing bonus objectives. Quality over quantity. If anything, all I ask of an assassin is to be able to complete the assassination objective, 5 kills from above.

I don't think like using them because, given how low the damage from the kunai is, you spend a lot of time whittling down enemies in order to get kills with them. In gold they are alright but for Nightmare, it's way worse. The kunais work best with the Ronin since you get the +50% damage to ghost weapons, and you can further increase that with your charm.

Good question. I'd say make sure you do the daily challenges. Story mode is much, much faster for getting drops and therefore resources than survival (2 to 3x faster). So do quickpay stories in any difficulty you like and then break down any non-unique items you can.

@Bad Bodyguards I don’t believe you can. When you reroll items, you’re given a percentage on the odds of your item leveling up in rarity and purple items don’t have a chance to become legendary. So you can only upgrade blue items into purple items as of right now.

Since teh 1.16 patch nerfed the resolve gains on bombs to balance the Ronin, I'm finding a MUCH harder time with the Assassin as a reprocussion to the bomb pack nerf. Do you have any ideas/updates to this build that you'd recommend now? I love the assassin, legit my fav part of the game, but I cant really get him working the way I used to due to this stupid nerf. Any ideas would be appreciated. I loved this game and now I'm kinda out of sorts with it from this one nerf that hit assassins super hard :(

You just need to time your bomb use better. Try to hit as many enemies as possible with it, and use it on smaller groups to interrupt enemies and get free hits in with your sword. Don't just use everything at once. Once you get your resolve up to around 2, use your smoke bomb to get 4-5 assassinations (ideally) or critical strikes and to replenish your concussion bombs. Follow up with your invisibility to get 2 more hits. By then you should have your ult charged. Use your ult. If anyone is at low health, kill them off with Way of the Flame on your sword. Then, sticky bomb if needed. By now, you should have gotten around 8 kills at least, which means 40s off your smoke bomb. If you took around 50s to do all this you should have your smoke bomb available again and start it all over. It helps a lot to have other players running munitions on their smoke as well.

@@monoespacial unlike other kunai, the sprit kunia is extermely powerful. For instant, for regular swordsman, you need qbout 2-3 hits to kill them with sword, spirit kunia can almost 1 shot those guys. It still not as strong as sticky bombs, but its dqmage is no joke.

This is a decent but average build, it won’t get you through nightmare without depending on ronins (two should be enough). A simple improvement is to switch the legendary sticky bomb for the legendary bomb pack (medicine pack I think it was called). That way you’ll MAYBE get through nightmare with one or no ronins, also combat regeneration is still very important, so unless you’re super confident about not taking a lot of damage, don’t switch for the extra assassination.

Bruh i made this build yesterday and it recks. Instead of the legendary sticky i use the forbidden medicine legendary bombs and the fact that it heals everyone is so clutch. Definitely worth a try if you have it.

For the sticky bombs u might need to play as a ronin to get them...... each class has a high chance of different legendary gear Samurai have a high chance in swords and hunter has a higher chance in getting bows

@@JohnnyBooze I haven’t had any legendary katana’s with assassin but I’ve had a lot of legendary sticky bombs, kunai, the benkei charm, the fan and other stuff. I think it’s just luck. Just stay grinding quick play or nightmare story and do all objectives

Farm gold story missions. I like Caravan of Thieves but a lot of people like running Sacred Hearts which is faster. I just hate having to deal with the affinity stuff on that mission though.

I just wanted a assassin build that can one shot at lest red onis with super assassination but yet to find a good one. They always have that little bit health left and being extremely annoying....

Tbh, if you spec towards stealth attack and Oni damage with +50% damage to staggered enemies, you might one-shot some oni but your overall dps will suffer greatly since you'll take too long to setup the conditions for that perfect damage scenario.

@@monoespacial I'm more towards trying achieve a super assassination one shot to the red onis since the crit animation takes longer and the wacha will land before it finishes. The build is viable if I can at least one shot the spear oni(seems to be 17 health) but I couldn't for now. With 106 ki gear and a total of +73% stealth atk a regular crit deals ~8.2dmg so it's not possible. But from your videos I realized the way I tested KI was wrong. I tested a 105 ki katana vs the default 5 ki one with total KI being the same and I wrongly concluded weapon KI does nothing. I'll have to farm some honor and see if 110ki gear and +oni dmg will do the trick.

This build will work really well in Nightmare. Try not to take any unnecesarry risks and don't get stuck in long animations when too many enemies are around.

Play Ronin for.bomb pack. Touch of heaven is a legendary so it's just luck. Grind Caravan of Thieves

This is an amazing build and I’ve had so much fun with it. I’ve focused more for a straight ult/ resolve gain and not focusing as much on the stealth attack. I want to make it more suitable for nightmare, can someone help me with it. I’m focusing on pure ult damage

You can use the build as it is for nightmare mode. It works really well and after having experimented with it for some time, I wouldn't know what to change to make it better.

The amount of damage you do depends heavily on the gear level. If your gear isn't all max level which I believe is 120 (haven't played in a while) then you won't be doing as much damage as you could.

The status effect doesnt work align with the smoke bombs, simce is a state of animation and not really a status effect placed on a enemy

It works on knockdown though. They stay down longer and give you more time to get the critical (if you have Impactful Throws perk).
