So, basically, Japanese protection of the Ainu under imperial law, was like native protection in the Americas under Spanish royal law. Emishi means Barbarians Ainu means last people of the sun. Japanese are mix of Yayoi from Korea and Jomon tribes, which became Yamato. After late 1690 Jomon tribes are called Ainu as they still follow the old ways unlike Yamato. Also Hokkaido has been part of Japan since early 1600, But people think Hokkaido became part of Japan during Meiji era.
@Perceval77723 күн бұрын
The Yayoi people most probably have no serious relation to Korea. There are way too many similarities with cultures from Southeast Asia. Whatever the influence from Korea, it came after the Yayoi had settled the Japanese archipelago. Concerning Hokkaido - it was considered a part of Japan during the Edo period but only formally. The Matsumae clan didn't control the Ainu, they were free to do as they wish as long as they weren't aggressive. The island was practically colonized during the Meiji period and thus it effectively became part of the Japanese state then.

@@Perceval777 there's literally no similarities with Southeast Asia. Only speculation, Sami people have some similarities with languages and Shamanism of northern Japan that doesn't mean both are related. Also it's few samurai driven out went to Hokkaido with help from French declared themselves independent from Japan they got defeated and Hokkaido became Japan again. And people took it as Hokkaido became part of Japan at that time
@Perceval77722 күн бұрын
@@Duluuuuuuuuuhbul I am talking about the Yayoi people, not the Jomon and Ainu people - the Yayoi people's religion is similar to religions in Southeast Asia, where the Sun deity is primary and the ruler is considered a descendant of that deity. On the continent, you see the deity of the sky as primary - Tien, Tengri, etc. In China, Korea and Mongolia the sky deity is the most important and you see the rulers associating with it. Also, the Japanese longbow itself is one of the best examples you have of Southeastern origins - the bows in Korea, China, Mongolia, Manchuria, etc. are short composite bows while the ones in Southeast Asia are longbows made from supple branches. The Jomon people (including the Emishi and Ainu), on the other hand, no doubt have Siberian/Northeast Asian origins.

@KingsandGenerals Difference is that the 1st Mongol Invasion is a "monolothic" event, for lack of a better word. Its a massive issue for Tsushima during the time, but its also a very simple one. *Invaders wage total war on your home island and you must defend it by any means necessary.* You meet new allies and flare up old rivalries along the way, _but that's about it._ Meanwhile, the *_leadup alone_* to what happened until 1603 Southern Hokkaido is a complex web of events involving a maze of politics and social issues involving several morally grey factions. Matsumae influence in Wajinchi, Ainu oppression at the hands of the Yamato and the insurgencies triggered by it, Tokugawa being titled Shogun and the onset of a new period in Japan, etc. I feel like such a setting is a waste for the kind of game they're going to make. A pretty looking cinematic Action Adventure game. Imagine if Fallout New Vegas, with all of its RPG mechanics, its vast writing and dialogue tackling the issues brought on by the NCR-Legion war, and its exploration of the politics and ideologies of all of its factions was just *_thrown away_* and was made into a linear FPS where we just kill the big bad mutant final boss and do odd jobs for random NPCs along the way instead. That's what I feel is going to happen with Ghost of Yotei.

I can't begrudge creatives taking liberties with history. I know that some history fans might find it in poor taste, but, anecdotally, each popular media set in history, whatever it is and no matter how historically flawed, still popularizes history and creates not only new history fans, but actual historians. I get that you are seeing Ancient Rome through their eyes but nevertheless their involvement in the events depicted in the series is fictional. From what I can gather the historical consultant on the show stated the aim was to be historically authentic rather than accurate. Also it seems the historical Titus Pollo ended up switching sides and joining Pompey. In summary, Rome is not completely historically accurate.

See that's funny cuz every woman in the first game was stated and shown to be superior than him, him having to beg them for help on multiple occasions
@RedBoko201722 күн бұрын
@@Peasham they weren't shown as superior to him (he still beats lady masako in a duel and survives tomoe) but they were all portrayed as strong women. To pretend Ghost of Yotei is changing anything, like the OP, is to be a fool

@@Tom-i8q5yWould be a shame if any woman who happened to be a samurai (they were a social class) had to know how to fight, or something, to say nothing of the ones that went out and fought.
