Their catalogue is second to none. The variety, the record progressions, the influences, the close to zero skip-songs, the live shows, the whole clergy, papa, ghouls stuff, the makeup, the instrumental pieces... haven't been this obsessed by a band since I discovered 'the Great ones' in my youth like 35 years ago...

Every album sounds different. Every song is catchy. And the albums travel in and out of rock genres/eras whenever Tobias feels like it. People like to put them in an easily definable box like "ABBA metal" or "Scooby Doo metal" and that's cute for the masses but that represents maybe 20% of their music.

This is the best song and era of Ghost. A catchy fun song about rituals and sacrifices. LOL They are a great band with many great songs, Fun and with a show!

Ghost has a ton of variety - Year Zero, From the Pinnacle to the Pit, Miasma, Kaisarion are each from different album, but still keep that blend of pop hooks with a metal style and satanic shtick, a kinda Abba-Sabbath sound but done like Alice Cooper on stage (check out the keytar solo on Mummy Dust live)

What's happening here is the beginning of Ghost's "Antichrist Saga" that spanned their first 4 albums or so (3 LPs 2 EPs). In this song here, 'Ritual', the narrator comes across a grisly scene of black magic symbols and dead bodies- the human sacrifices -which reveals to the narrator that the Antichrist has finally been conceived. There's no turning back now. On the last two tracks of this album, 'Prime Mover' and 'Genesis', he is finally birthed into the world. 'Prime Mover' is the ritualistic song that must be played to bring him into the world, and he's ultimately arrived into the world on the last track called 'Genesis'. Think about that for a second... The very last track is titled 'Genesis'. It's an inverse of the Bible. It's also titled 'Genesis' to announce the Antichrist is officially alive on Earth. He's here, and fate will determine everyone's destinies. On the second album titled *Infestessimum,* it's revealed he was born somewhere beneath or within the Vatican in Rome. In the track 'Year Zero', time has officially run out for humanity and the Antichrist takes control of Earth. On Ghost's 3rd major release LP, *Meliora,* the Antichrist has basically established a dystopian police state crushing everyone's free will. As he celebrates his conquest of humanity, he makes a mistake and assumes he has now surpassed his father's (Satan) achievements on Earth and stops giving his glory to his father. Satan feels insulted and betrayed, and glowers at his son from a distance vowing to make him suffer the same torment he's known since his exile from Heaven. On the EP, *Popestar,* events finally come to a head in the song 'Bible' as God returns to stop the Antichrist. He easily destroys him, obviously, but afterwards God also determines he made a mistake in creating Earth in the first place. The saga finally concludes in 'Bible' with God destroying the Antichrist and Satan both, but also humanity, and every living thing on the planet. Nothing passes the test in God's final judgement. Which is why Ghost hasn't continued with anymore strictly Satanic music. There are still allusions, allegories, metaphors, and symbolism here and there, but that's about it. Their Antichrist Saga is officially completed so they have more freedom to cover a variety of different topics now.
