Square hammer Live is a WHOLE different experience than watching and listening to the video. The pyrotecnics and the energy of the band/crowd is a different world!! The intro to Square hammer, the crowd goes wild and its just a marvel!!!

All guitar is played by Tobias himself. He also wrote the song. He wanted a big opening song for the live shows and had inspiration from Ozzy Osbourne: s Bark at the moon which Ozzy always open with. Being on the square and being on the level comes from the Freemasons. Tobias is rumoured to have been a member there but i don't know if it ever has been official. Square Hammer was Ghost first Billboard number one and in the music video you get a clue to whoever was gonna replace Papa Emeritus lll as a red Cardinal is shown in the end of the video. When Prequelle was launched Cardinal Copia was the new frontman and he appears in Ghost Chapter 1 in a red dress.

Actually, Cardinal Copia appears in chapter 1 in black Cardinal vestments. He's never seen in red in any other chapters.

Tobias pretty much composes everything, even the guitar solos (he is a guitarist). He records demos and gets the studio bands to record them. The touring band is entirely different. It's all from his head. He's quite something.

You should definitely watch one of the live performances of this song. There is a third guitar played by one of the backing vocal ghouls. 🖤

Nice reaction. The Bell first comes in when Tobias/Papa sings "When bells begin to chime" at the end of the first verse - classic, cheeky Ghost. Also, the second guitar solo is doubled with a synth, so you hear the mod wheel at the end. Ghost write some of the best smart, fun, catchy rock songs this decade.

One of my favorite live performances of "Square Hammer" is the San Bernardino video from 7/1/17. Ben Christo was the lead guitarist on this tour (had only a brief stint with the band) and is so awesome with regard to his energy, showmanship and interactions with the crowd. The energy of the band overall is outstanding in this live version.

When live Ghost has a musican or "Ghoul" that will pull out either an acoustic guitar, a 4th guitar, shaker or even a saxophone this versitility has him nucknamed "Swiss" for Swiss army knife. This ability to have this flexibility makes Ghost so fun. You get songs Like "Year Zero" thats heavy then others like "If you have Ghosts" & "Darkness at the heart of my love" that are softer and slow.

Hey I'm new to the channel! :) That's exactly the type of reaction I like, thank you so much for paying so much attention to all the little details, I felt like discovering the song again with you that was really awesome. It was great to see how much fun you had during the reaction, I enjoyed it very much! As a musician myself, more precisely a guitar player, I have a similar approach to new songs. Hope to see more Ghost in the future on the channel and I highly recommend to see them live if you get the chance, I saw them live in June and I can't even put into words how incredible the experience was! Anyways, looking forward to more vids man! :)

Loving the way you pause & go back to talk about and take apart the sections of music. I love to listen to your expertise on how the song is built. This makes you one of the more interesting and fun reaction channels, imo. I'm enjoying good music and learning something in the process! This song is fun too, it always has me bouncing in my seat. You're right: Ghost is catchy, they have a lot of earworms that get stuck in my head, keeping me coming back to them! Another awesome video 🤘

When they play it live, the main lead guitar player (white guitar) plays both of those solo parts. But I also thought it would be a switch between them.

For your next Ghost song, I would highly suggest "Faith from a Pale Tour Named Death" it is the studio recording put over the best live footage from their tour! This song is one of my all time favs from Ghost! Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6e9fKqspbZ0i8U

A common suggestion I'm seeing is "rats" which is off Prequelle which is probably one of their softest records, but it has tons of instrumental sections which are sick. The other day I went to a music shop and on an acoustic I played their song "darkness at the heart of my love" which undoubtedly is one of my favorite songs as well as one of the first songs of theirs I heard. It's not a particularly heavy song but I think you would get a kick out of the harmony and melody of it. There were two others that knew the lyrics to the chorus with me so we actually got to do almost a full "arrangement" which was sick lol. The lyrics are great too. Always enjoy your videos and thoughts on the music 😊 was fun as always to see your comments about this song 😊

@@oldstonerun I don't get to go very often but when I do I get dropped off by a friend usually and I play their keyboards and guitars for an amount of time that I'm sure they question lol. But I always tune every guitar I play which they appreciate 😂 I've really only been a follower of ghost in general for a few months. Their newest album offering is an EP called Phantomime which on it they did their version of "the phantom of the opera" by iron maiden. Which I have to say is super sick lol. From what I've seen you're stellar on the guitar and it's always fun to see whatever you post. I've suggested way too many songs over the course of my comments to keep your headphones blasting for a while anyways lol 😂

He is a awesome musician too and had a project since 2019 when every end of year he mashup the most viral songs of the year and turn into a metal version. You will not be disapointed, I promisse.
