I worked for an archaeologist in Hawaii for years. It's always hard to keep in mind that the things you are handling were once handled by people who lived, laughed and loved just like you. Their possessions, that you now hold, once meant a lot to them. Your story of JOY is a great example.

I just stumbled onto this vlog. Love it! I love the history of the old towns in the west. I grew up in SoCal, moved to Utah in the early 1970's and later bought small ranch in Utah near the Outlaw Trail in the eastern desert. I used to love driving, or riding horses to find and see old ghost towns. I used to drag my family along, and they'd moan and groan taking them over dirt roads along precarious cliffs, but once we got there they were just as excited to be there as I was. (I used to call those old trails and roads, "the Scenic Route".) LOL. Thank you for doing the history.

Hello What a fabulous report about this ghost town and what a tragic story about Joy who died in 1907 that year my grandfather to the world. It's amazing how fast Goldfield has grown and survived so many disasters. Thanks for taking me to the past. Greetings from Freiburg Germany Christian🤠

It's pretty incredible how big Goldfield used to be. I drove through recently and never would have guessed if I didn't previously it and other towns, such as Austin.

I got married in Goldfield right in front of the old boarded up Goldfield Hotel... The Mayor and several elderly ladies were all witnesses... That was in 1982... I doubt I'll ever go through that area again. Too old for travel.. My wild west adventure will not be repeated.... The whole area is so radioactive that it glows in the dark.. It's been well cooked by the military...

That train is awesome and it should be restored big time!!! They should at least keep it from rusting anymore!!! They should start a go fund me or something to do it!!! It's to amazing to just rust away!

There's a great book by C.B.Glasscock about Goldfield, he was there, saw it all, wrote the book "There's Gold in Them Hills" in 1932. Books don't get any better.

Sight of the 1906 Joe Gans vs Battling Nelson Lightweight Championship fight, the first superfight promotion by Tex Rickard. Won by the great Joe Gans on a 42nd round disqualification. A very good sports read about the fight itself is: "The Longest Fight: In the Ring with Joe Gans, Boxing's First African American Champion" by William Gildea

Man someone ought to go grab one of them old cars and rebuild it it's got a little bit of rest but it's just sitting there doing nothing make a hot rod out of one of them things if you got the money unless somebody owns it doesn't want you to I doubt anybody owns those things. Also there's probably more gold around there somewhere they never found maybe a half a mile out of town I'm going to have to go check that place out.

What we are TODAY .....is owed to all those '' WHO HAVE GONE ON BEFORE US ''. Our parents....all the way.....back......'' to the beginning ''. In the beginning....GOD .....( over seven billions of years ago - when HE began forming , this Universe = ...and, ALL FOR HUMAN BEINGS, IN HIS IMAGE, and LIKENESS. Physically, with a ' human ' spirit ...which separates, us from all other ' living life - forms ''. Be it animals, or trees / plants, bugs/ microbes / larvae / sea creatures....and all plankton. Everything.......'' and it was all very good ''. WE have corrupted, HIS creation. With gold, comes curses. Every situation, over our nearly 6,000 years of warring / killing history - there are Disasters....After Blessings, of physical things. Every time. Never Fails. God, the same yesterday, today and fore ever. HIS weather, continues marching on....the richer we become....the more our CURSES.
