Out of all Willie Rushton's narrations this has got to be his greatest of all. Everything he did in this one came out perfect, and the the howling noises are awesome. Best audio railway series narrator ever. You rule Willie!

This is one of my favourite Thomas stories EVER and to hear a different, brilliant narrator telling the tale is wonderful. Although Ringo Starr is my favourite Thomas storyteller, Rushton is still fantastic here. Thank you for sharing.

I remember this so fondly from when I was a kid getting the audio cassette out of the library. Rushton's fantastic narrations and the rare use of sound effects made this such a favourite of mine.

My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🛤🚋🚞🚝🚊🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃🚂 especially the ones in these stories and he is glad that Reverend Wilbert Awdry wrote them. My son also says that from 01:43 - 2:44 that he can hear the hoot of a Tawny Owl 🦉, he really likes owls 🦉 too!

I swear I can't get enough of how much invigorating piece of artistry Willie Rushton's narration and Gunvor and Peter Edwards' illustrative portraiture is together. It's such captivating world-building the Railway Series has ever deserved for the love and inspiration of railroading Wilbert Awdry wanted to create in these everlasting stories of his. Literature can be quite a discovery, and there ain't nothin' wrong with digging as deep as you can to find the hearth and lore of what it resembles in fine entertainment.

Having grown up watching the live-action Thomas episodes (before ever reading the stories on which they were based), I remember the episode "Ghost Train", or "Percy's Ghostly Trick" here in the US, giving me nightmares when I was younger, especially with the music and the image of the ghost train going across the viaduct at the beginning. These days, it doesn't scare me that much, and I've even written a few ghost stories myself. Moreover, while I'm aware that others have already made their own versions of or additions to this "Ghost Train" story, I one day want to create my own narrative that ends with what Percy said.

Awdry had wanted Duke's book to be the last but just think, if he hadn't been pressured to do one more book, we wouldn't have gotten this story and wouldn't have gotten the iconic Ghost train theme from the TVS

And Mavis probably would not have been introduced. Besides, Thomas, Percy and Toby had not appeared since Stepney The Bluebell Engine, not counting when Thomas had a very brief non-speaking role in Main Line Engines.

I was on a ski-course and it was 23:00 in the night. My two friends wanted me to tell them a story. And I of course chose Ghost train. And as I was in the middle of Thomas's scream our teacher ran into our room and started to shout what are we doing that we are shouting like crazy. The part from,, let me in'' to I must find Annie and Clarabel'' became a meme for us and we now reference it daily. I think that the perfect timing of our teacher entering the room and spooking us being so perfectly sinchronised with percy breakimg in and spooking Thomas is stupidly funny. One of my best memories from those days ( right behind my friend flooding the bathroom, me dancing with our girls or me falling on my head in full speed. Good times😊)
"Tramway Engines" is last album writen by Wilberd Awdry. And also the last one, all chapters of which were adapted into episodes.

Thomas has been pestering me to write about his Branch line. "After all", he said, "we are the importantest part of the whole railway". "What can I write about?" I asked. "Oh, lots of things - Percy's Woolly Bear, Toby's Tightrope and..." "...your Ghost," I added. "Don't put that silly story in," said Thomas crossly. I will, all the same. Thomas has been too much cocky lately. It will serve him right! The Author

I just love moments of Toby being the chaotic neutral that he is. Such a relatable characteristic even I want to attain. It's even in this story when he joins Percy in playing a ghostly trick into frightening Thomas, and in the next story where he joins Thomas at laughing at Percy when he gets all covered in a bail of hay. It's really comprehending that Toby doesn't take sides to anyone's opinion or dilemma. He is truly a funny neutral agent of chaos.
At the beginning of the video, where did you get the sound effects? It is sooooooooo good.
@carribob19923 жыл бұрын
I don't think the uploader added the sounds. The company that published these recordings originally also published Railway Records (Look up Argo Transcord when you have time, the records are essentially sound recordings). The story Thomas Comes To Breakfast from the Branch Line Engines audio book has a sound recording from the Argo Transcord record "D For Diesels" (The part recorded at Princes Risbrough station)

Saying this Ghost Story on TV actually was something that actually happened and wasn’t Timothy, what if the ghost story Percy’s driver saw was based off the Lindal Railway Incident (as D1 #115 did plunge into a gap) with some people making a ghost film about it? Whatever Percy’s driver saw and if it was real, either he could’ve either not known the accident was real or did know and just pretended the film he watched on TV was fake so he wouldn’t scare him.
