This is pretty accurate to being a volunteer firefighter. Especially if you're not a busy station. Everyone's grabbing their shit and getting on the truck just like this lol. Especially when it's a fire.

I work casually at a rural EMS station that can have a long break between calls, and yeah, there's been times when everyone is chilling on the couch eating popcorn in their pajamas and then *tones* oh crap oh crap oh crap put the dog away find your socks.

This is such a great scene that is pretty representative of actual emergency responders. Ray is the eager rookie. Egon is the smart guy who is kind of awkward at everything. Peter is the salty veteran. Janine is the dispatcher who has been waiting all night for something to happen.

Its so funny you say that. I've worked in emergency services for years, and have gravitated to smaller, slower rural stations, and I've said that the cartoon version of Ghostbusters intro, where Peter has his feet up on the desk reading a newspaper when the call comes in his very reminiscent of what my day at work is like.

This is exactly where they got the idea for the opening sequence from 1986/87 The Real Ghostbusters. Janine gets a call, she slams down the alarm to notify the Ghostbusters upstairs of the emergency, they slide down the pole, put on the jumpsuits, hop in Ecto-1 and take off to the Hotel.

Not entirely. I've been a volunteer firefighter for quite some time, and the reaction is not how you depict it. One thing I've learned during training is to remain relaxed and pay attention. The excitement you get to feel during your first call, you have to contain it and stay focused

Just got back from NY and I went to see the fire station, at no 4 N Moore street Manhattan , the producers only used the front of the station , where ecto 1 drives out . The office upstairs was recorded in Los Angeles . Amazing stuff , if you get the chance it’s a must see .

This is something that the original had that the remake didn't and that's the personalities of the characters shown in many scenes, especially in this one. Ray was always the passionate and dedicated leader so he was the first to run to the pole after hearing the bell ring for the first time. Peter, being the sarcastic and the "I don't give a shit" type of guy, he's calm and relaxed while coming down the pole while bringing his food with him. Finally, Egon who's the nerd of the group, went down last. Judging by the look on his face while sliding down the pole, he's nervous about his job and doesn't feel safe when he's not in his lab.

Reitman knew how to frame shots something spectacular. To this day, there is not a better reveal of a movie car on screen period. The Delores in BTTF is second best in part 1 when Doc backs it out of the truck, but it had obvious non-subtleties like the dry ice fog and an orchestra riffs being played upon its showing. Reitman knew this car was going to be memorable and made its introduction such a wonderful thing to watch. 40 years later it still gives me chills.

I wonder if reitman knew how iconic this scene and the introduction to ecto-1 would be one day. Between the song the hilarious downplay of the whole situation by venkman compared to Ray freaking out and rushing to the initial reveal of the cars face right before it pulls out of the garage
