The introduction with the librarian, is the PERFECT way to build up creepy tension. The fact that they never let you actually see the Librarian Ghost, and instead show you objects moving and the clerk's reaction, lets your imagination create what the monster looked like, which is always scarier than anything hollywood can make. The eerie quiet, the creepy music, just objects levitating past her at first, and then things going crazy, her panic running at what was chasing her, that's all far scarier than anything else in the movie.

Well, this movie was targeted from young to adult audience so they could not go Aliens with it. I remember watching it at 8 in a small village cinema here in Czech republic and then we had to walk like 3-4 kilometers to our cottage, in the warm summer superdark night. :-) I'm telling you I wasn't scared at all :-)))

After he freaked out about being tired of it, I would have instead continued until it would have done where it would have been all 80, but would have refused to receive shocks anymore so I would have unhooked myself from that thing, and then required that I see the cards of both me and her, and asked Peter if she really got any right or if he was lying, and also asked Peter if I got any right but where he was lying just to be a jerk towards me, and yeah, I would have kept the $5. I would have also required that both Peter, and the woman, receive one shock just so they would know how I felt when it happened to me. Would you have done the same?

In the scene where Venkman's testing the college kids, the fact that the dude actually does have some ESP abilities and Venkman doesn't care because he's focused on hooking up with the college babe... fucking brilliant writing. Just shows what a poor scientist he actually is hahaha, willing to throw away the chance at discovering a guy with ESP abilities over a girl, that is gold standard writing.

For all the kids out there, this is what us old people refer to as a "movie". It shares similarities with modern visual media, but the biggest difference is this has something called "characters" and "good writing". Today, those have been replaced by CGI and slowed down piano renditions of old pop songs.

7:01 I cannot stop laughing at the way Bill Murray did that to Harold. I feel like that was not in the script and he did that on his own. Bill is definitely a funny guy😂

It's kinda funny how not a single moment in the 2016 movie is as good as this, in any area, from the writing and acting to even the special effects when the first ghost eventually appears.

One of the best movies ever. I was just on Netflix watching this movie Ghost Stories and the opening song sounded just like this one. If anyone sees it. Let me know if I'm going crazy or does it sound really similar.

In three successive attempts, the test-taker saw his future card and got electrocuted, then saw her card and got electrocuted, then got his card correct. I think Venkman's theory was correct.

Best movie ever made. We need more Ghostbusters sequels after the incredible Afterlife. Definately need some adults like Paul catching ghosts in the next one though. Don't wait 30 plus years for the next one Sony, Ghostbusters has so much potential.
