@@JBSpookyReview yes! The first was so uniquely “early 80’s” and that style and mood is gonna be impossible to replicate; I’m a few of the ones who likes the 2nd one more (the humor was more fitting to what I was used to at the time it came out), but still a late 80’s movie… they were FUN, you actually laughed through the whole movie, who wants to see Venkman in a “Lost in Tokyo” mood all the time? What’s comedy for the producers and directors of this movie? Seems they fell in love with the costumes and nothing else… so sad and what a lost opportunity, they’re not getting younger.

This movie was like walking through ankle high mud for 115 minutes. You're right on the nose. 10/10 review. You hit everything. This movie was exhausting to watch. The cuts were weird. Overlapping story lines. Kept waiting for something to happen but nothing ever really happened.. it was long and it felt long. I don't know why they make these movies so busy. Could have cut the cast in half and some still might have trouble. If this movie had nothing to do with the ghostbusters it would be the same. But it is Ghostbusters so it just makes it sting. From beginning to end excellent work. Best review I've seen easily.

I wonder if our parents went through the same thing? I wondering if these studios are just incapable of making a movie with a beginning, middle, and an end? I liked Frozen Empire more than Afterlife but that's not saying a whole. Still, FE feels less like a retread and tries to have its own identity besides the member berries that could have easily been plucked out with no one being any wiser to the edits. My biggest question is where is Oscar in all of this? Why isn't he carrying the franchise? Seems like a missed opportunity, and now that we know for sure Part 2 is canon, his omission makes no sense. Cool video. We agree on many points. I wonder if they'll make another one? To be frank I'm surprised Frozen Empire exists at all given Afterlife's box office and lukewarm reaction. What a shame because the premise is simple but has endless potential that has yet to be fully realized after the original. Oh well, they'll try again eventually. And bring Oscar into the mix!

"Frozen Empire" demonstrates that Hollywood success is accidental. Hollywood does not know how to make good movies. "Frozen Empire" isn't a terrible movie--but was indeed made by a committee who can't do improve, can't tell a coherent story, can't even entertain Kitty with a laser pointer! I'll compare "Frozen Empire" to having a buffet dinner that has only desserts. "Where's the meat?" The success of the original "Ghost Busters" was an accident. Movie business is making money, and even box office flops make people rich. Organized crime took over the movie industry in the Thirties and made money at every step in the process--while fronting money in a vast money-laundering conspiracy. The producers had to pay off the Mob and the Unions, the Unions had to pay off the Mob, suppliers got paid by the producers and paid off the Mob, actors were owned and exploited by the Mob--and as long as the money kept flowing during production, who cared if the movie stank? Due to bloated budgets, committees have to be involved in movie financing. RICO clipped the wings of organized crime's domination of the movie industry, but then there's the legal crime called Banking and Insurance. Both create money out of thin air. Their imaginary money has real consequences--back in the day, imaginary money build movie studios and sets, hired cast and crew, bought film... Let's start by slapping labels on the accidental masterpiece, the original "Ghostbusters." Horror movie? SciFi? Comedy? Buddy movie? Crime? Action adventure? Romance--there was a whole lot of lovin' implied in the firehouse with Janine and with Dana and her neighbor and a coworker and Peter. I think I can rule out "western," but a movie critic can present "Ghostbusters" as a western set in modern day New York City with a little imagination. "Ghostbusters" was fun! The labels didn't tell the story--the story told the story. Worse--one of many things that broke my "willing suspension of disbelief" was a high-speed car chase through New York City daytime traffic. Smaller cities gridlock--and where were the street repair crews tearing up the streets in decades-long renovation projects? Frozen Empire had too many cooks stirring the pot and throwing in everything including the kitchen sink. The committee failed to tell a coherent story because they put in too many things and left out the end product.

I haven't seen this movie. I haven't seen the previous one either. I have seen GB2 and I am more than familiar with Goatburgers. On the intro, if I were going to put a member berry track over the intro, it'd be Mick Smiley's Magic. You know the one, you might just not know what tune it is. S'the one that plays when hell opens with the lyric 'I believe it's magic' it's here… kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJzTp6d-mpeAf5Y and the bit you remember starts at 2.20 If I were going to try and sell the moving motion cinescopic film I'd probably poke someone like Bill Eyelash to do a wee cover, but, for me that's always been the heart and soul music of the busters of goat. YMMV. The actual main theme I see kinda as the Jimothy Bond fanfare - it's a victory tune. Can't start with the victory tune - haven't victored yet. On the goat sequels in general, I think they suffer a great deal from people not really understanding what made them funny, which was the everyman dialog contrasted with the fantastical setting. It wasn't the ghosts. It's the same thing that made the first two seasons of Red Dwarf work so well. You may also enjoy other seasons. And the American version of Red Dwarf failed for precisely the same reason I'm not interested in the Antman era of goose-bumblers. But, hey hey we're the monkees and all that. Walter Peck died in GB1. That's canon. * Bringing him back but alive is just a flat out slap in the face, it says someone might have read the comic adaption of the original but didn't see the need to spend two hours watching it. *You can drop that much shaving foam on a chap and expect him to live, but it's not shaving foam, it's meant to be boiling marshmallow. He'd be flattened and roasted. He'd be a human those things the colonials put in fires. One Gram Crackers and goop. Schmeiers. Whatever. We don't have them here because we don't like diabetes. We put sausages in fires because we do like botulism. Botulism sounds like we're learned students of some poet somewhere. Johannes Agnes Rudlophio Botullo. "Oh now, really, Crispian, I'll not hear a word against Ode To Blue Ham, it is a superb example of post-hovian Botulism." I've got lost again. I think these sequels ought to be subtitled Gloveboosters: Kids. I mean that's what it is. Greaseblaster: The Teenage Years. I am noting that at no point so far (13:06) have you mentioned anything being funny. Which is very telling, isn't it? I think I'd be up for an amusing comedy instead of teenage lesbian necrophillic angst. What percentage of their viewing audience they think falls into those venn dots is beyond me. Teenagers don't watch movies, so they're weighing the movie on necrophiliacs and/or lesbians. I certainly don't begrudge people making movies for lesbians. Go nuts. or rather, don't go nuts. Keep nuts out of it. What are nuts anyway? Whatever, it's fine, you can do that. You can even make an entire grousebumblers film with only lesbians if you like. I mean, you could make another one, but, you don't get to complain that no one watched it if you do. It's a niche subset of society to start with. Perfectly good one, just not especially large. My sister's in that club. So's her wife. Just sayin'. Can you imagine, can you IMAGINE, that they had Rick Moranis and / or Signourney Weaver return? I've not heard anyone contemplate those guys and they brought an awful lot to the real real ghostbusters. I didn't care much for GB2 on the grounds it's just a sequel, nothing is added, it's just more of the same. That should never be a thing that happens. I think the only thing I took from it was "Thanks Louis, that was short but pointless." Which is a nice line. Lot of money got spent to create a single line. I quite liked the Titanic turning up. One line, one shot. Meh. But at least it didn't reek like a week old herring sandwich, and I know people who mostly think of Vigo the Vigonnian when they picture villains. Odd to me, since picturing Gozer the Gozarian is a much more appealing process. I may have mentioned before, if not, stop me, but one of my fond trivia questions is to name the two terror dogs. For some reason most people are blocked that one of them is named Zuul. The other is Vinz Klortho. Why one dog has one name and the other two? I do not know. Worth a fair bit in scrabble, but you're not allowed proper names. Another favourite trivia question is to ask what colours David Bowie's eyes are? People always seem shocked when I tell them they're both blue. Yeah. I have got to the end of the video, and have almost two hundred words left. I can only think to ramble on about how you've done twenty five minutes or so on a ghostbusters film and still haven't mentioned that any of it is funny. Don't you just hate the world post 90's? Things worked in the 90s. We had a good Jimmie Bond, Doctor Who was a fond memory, there were three Star Wars films, Star Trek was still made for grown ups, Pearl Jam were touring, most people were still alive, everyone had money and lots of things in pastel colours. The cast of friends were all still alive, and filming Friends. You didn't have to watch friends. Buffy was that cult movie you saw with Peewee Herman as a vampire. Good times. Good god the cast of Buffy look old. How come people younger than me look old?! Time, you bastard, you've been moving on the whole, um, you. Then October 1997 happened. It all went wrong after that. As a fan it pains me to say this but I have to be honest - Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is a bad movie. The film is total a mess. It's an overstuffed, poorly paced, confusing, convoluted movie with an unnecessarily complicated plot. There are far too many characters, some of which have been needlessly shoehorned into the story. Many if the characters are also very bland, with very little personality, charisma, likability, humor or chemistry. It's overstuffed with unnecessary dialogue, dull subplots, pointless characters and scenes which go on for far too long. It's not funny either. I didn't laugh once during the movie, and neither did the audience I was watching it with. It's not frightening either. There are no scares in the film. Laughs and scares are two things you expect from a Ghostbusters film, but this latest entry in the series is completely devoid of any. Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan may be talented directors, but they're the wrong people to be writing Ghostbusters films. Afterlife was mediocre at best, but Frozen Empire is just plain bad. With a heavy heart, I rate this film 3 out of 10. I feel a lot of fans are in denial about just how bad this film is.

The convoluted reasons for everyone being in NYC was farcical The forced lesbian ghost love interest was weird and out of place. They even wasted genuine opportunities to add throwbacks and references. A prime example being when the containment unit explodes. The ghosts are freed and we get a mass of generic looking ghosts, instead of using this opportunity to add cameos from past ghosts like the librarian, the jogger or the Scallary brothers etc. The whole film was just arduous to sit through.
