This was the most incredible movie i ever watched as a kid in the 80's. I watched it over and over until my parents went nuts and the video literally wore out. It's amazing to see how it was made 30 years down the track...nostalgic asf!

I understand there are some things you can only do with CGI, but I like it when the actors are actually interacting with the creators because a lot of the times the actor will have their hand in the air doing nothing.
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90173 ай бұрын
Well even with CGI they have the actors reacting to some stand-in for whatever it is they will be seeing.

When I start making movies I will want to use practical effects like these most of the time. not that CGI is bad (heck it can make really gigantic and awesome scenes and effects come to life) but i think practical effects look better because it actually feels like they're physically in the scene.
@bra61758 жыл бұрын
Look at how they did gollum in LoTR. He is probably the best use of CGI because they got a real person to act it out, then they had someone who does makeup do the CG gollum that is how you make something realistic. You can't expect anything to look real if it is computer generated unless you have a really big budget, and even they there might be flaws if you use it too much because technology isn't at that level to make a perfect CG movie unless it is animated.
@hankhill22542 жыл бұрын
@@bra6175 a part of the problem is some big budget movies seem to rush it’s cgi effects and in the final cut is unfinished effects

Look up Douglas Trumbull, he's the man responsible for the special effects in 2001: A Space Odyssey, Silent Running, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Blade Runner. He's in his 70's now and still going strong, his visual effects are some of the greatest ever conjured for physical in-camera effects or "Real effects" as he refers to them. In terms of CGI, Jurassic Park was its finest hour, yet the physical dinosaurs created by Stan Winston studios gave a scary realism that CGI just can't compete with. One of the reasons that made the Pumpkinhead monster so scary was because it was physical and in camera, it also added to the actors performances. A bunch of guys jumping around in motion capture suits just doesn't cut the mustard! However, if its old school special visual effects you want to look up, then Doug Trumbull and even John Dykstra are two you'd want to read up on!! If you do end up making your own movies, good luck and more importantly, have fun!!😊😊😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

My girlfriend is a HUGE 80's fan as am I. She loves 80's movies and music. But surprisingly, until she started dating me, she had never seen "Ghostbusters" or heard of it! I told her, "You're an 80's fan and you've never seen Ghostbusters?! That movie is one of the biggest highlights of the 80's." So I had her watch the dvd with me and now it's one of her favorite 80's movies, she always enjoys seeing it! In 2014, we even went to theater to see it when it returned for 1 week in theaters for it's 30th anniversary. I can't believe this movie is over 30 years old! I was only 3 when it came out but I remember the older kids always talking about it.

Don't mind the "edgy 12 yr olds" probably jealous you can even talk to a girl. But seeing you like the original have you seen the new one? Was thinking about watching it because I get humor out of shitty movies, but I want to know if it is even good enough to shit watch.
@alexanderpytko53948 жыл бұрын
***** I'm not sure about the shit watch thing for the new one. It could be a big disappointment because it doesn't seem anything like the first 2 but it's got Melissa McCartney in it and it seems today that anything with Melissa McCartney sells. My girlfriend is anxious to see it but my brother said it's going to be crap. I'm not sure what to think. I'll go see it and if I don't like it, I won't buy the dvd.
@bra61758 жыл бұрын
Alexander Edward Pytko Well the ghosts are pure CGI in the old one they used props ect. ect. and in the new one all the humor looks like dry slapstick.
@alexanderpytko53948 жыл бұрын
***** I hate them using so much cgi. A lot of the best movies were made before cgi effects were even invented. Besides there's nothing wrong with making effects the way they did in the first 2 movies. People enjoy getting their hands dirty, it gives satisfaction. So many people want to use cgi because it's cheaper and quicker. Cheap effects make the movie look cheap. I hate that they use so many green screens instead of actual sets and on location shots.

The stop motion demon dog thing was an excellent piece of special effects wizardry, it may look dated by today's standards but back in the day that special effect looked excellent, it did to me any way. The effect was achieved by using conventional stop motion animation but with an added motion blur effect to give the impression of faster, smoother and more realistic looking movement.

high end CGI fails when it comes to realistic motion and often looks too saturated in color - at least with puppeteering in Alien and Ghostbusters etc what you saw often truly existed where animation wasnt involved. With puppeteers and those creating the mechanics for everything to work you had artists with so many differing skills involved. 3d animation in my opinion can't beat traditional either - nothing beats roger rabbit lol
