I have one of these. It does everything well. Love the attachments. Great little unit. Too bad the company's gone.

Thanks for reviewing this. I have this model and it performs well and I find it very well built. Glad to see someone also discovered this model and it’s existence.

Thank you for this excellent review. I purchased this vacuum over 20 years ago and we still use it. About 7 years ago I purchased a Miele Dynamic U1 Vacuum to replace it, but something happened with it within the first week. It no longer stands up by itself and it seems to have really affected the vacuums performance. Now we keep the Miele in the basement and use it infrequently, but we use the Royal Protégé 7300 almost daily. Thanks for the tip on the bag! I will switch to the Hoover HEPA Y bags going forward. BTW... Do you know of a place I could try and get my Miele vacuum fixed? Thanks again!!

These are cool Vacs. I love that the design has been around for so long. I have one of the riccar 8000 units as well. Has a ton of power

The video shows a sticker about thermal reset... Where is the Thermal Reset for this machine?

Back when these came out I actually used one at a vacuum store and I really loved it. It's such a shame that these didn't caught on and saved Royal. I like to get one in my collection.

Can I put the hover type y bag that you used in the royal in my dirt devil swivel glide? Because the royal used the dirtdevil u bags

The Vacuum Cleaner Hospital here in Greenville NC was a Royal and Riccar dealer. He used to sell these Royal Prestege vacuums along with the traditional metal ones.Of course mine and Bills opinions differ-the metal ones were BETTER-less strokes to clean the same area.BUT-since you are using different and better bags this could make the difference. The direct was better in the airflow was balanced-suction same on either side of the nozzle. And the bell nozzle could fit into corners and such better.BUT the Prestege could do better with the hose and tools.Another Royal dealer I knew was Manassas Vacuums in of course Manassas Va-just West of DC.Lou carried the metal uprights and metal canisters. His main vacuum to sell was Sharp-he was a Sharp dealer.Lou used an old Royal metal tank as his bench vacuum.I helpted him many times--assembled a Royal metal upright for one of his wealthier customers. She bought a Royal tank, too.Unpacked it for her.I am glad you did have one of those Royal clean air machines. They just weren't really heavily pushed by dealers.

In the video you said TTI bought Royal in around 2010. Royal and Dirt Devil were both purchased together in 2002.

It looks a lot like a Panasonic or an early Riccar to me.

This looks like Mieles first uprights for the US made by Panasonic.
