I'm surprised that the ladies haven't got custom made corsets by this point. It's not practical for a whole cast in a one off film to get them, but 2 characters who are in every episode of a fairly long running drama can surely get hold of some. I'd imagine they'd use them again for other productions as well and given that Martha at least is part of the production company it actually makes sense to invest in one good quality garment that can be reused over and over again.

If they don't meet your dimensions, lace it thight enough, or don't have the proper "undergarments" (i.e. socks), you will have a pain walking the whole day. I wear since 2020 vintage made fashion (accurately 1910s working class) daily, and I can ensure you that if it wasn't by corsets, my back would be gone by now. People nowadays mostly don't even know or bother about it, so it's VERY likely they just gave her a generic one who obviously would be a completely understandable lame to use

Muscles and tendons get lazy and weak if they get constant support. That has been proven with people who only wore Birkenstock shoes for hears and years. The body is made to support itself and if you get problems with that a corset isn’t what is needed, training those muscles is.

As a costumer I’m cringing at the corset thing. If they were like historical corsets then they would fit them and not hurt. Loli shouldn’t even been wearing a corset but she should be wearing stays which are a completely diffferent shape.

​@@aliceramdom.s okay but why would Lolly (or anyone) actively choose to wear an uncomfortable garment when she could use a much more comfortable one to achieve the same effect, if not better? If you've got the budget, I don't see why they couldn't spend like £100 for proper shaping garments. Not only would it have been more comfortable for Lolly and Martha, but it would have been more economical plus more historically accu-rat (accurate). It would look literally the same, it wouldn't at all affect their personal style nor the characters' style.
